Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Upon reaching the highest point of the canyon, everyone also arrived at the heights of Leopold’s Domain.

Looking forward from here, the vast and rather uneven Kimberley Plateau lay ahead.

They observed the vast expanse of shrubby desert in front of them, interspersed with jungles, numerous dried-up riverbeds, deep red sandy canyons, and dark green hills.

Chen Wen felt a surge of excitement.

”This place is kind of like the desert inland in the United States.”

Adam commented on the environment: ”If there were a bit less vegetation, it would be even more similar.”

Dennis nodded, ”Pretty much, but this place is more unbearable than the desert.”

”The humidity on the plain below can reach a terrifying one hundred percent. Once we’re there, we’ll be facing extreme heat and humidity.”

Hearing this, everyone became cautious.

Before coming, they realized that the Kimberley Plateau, as the final leg of this challenge, was extremely difficult!

”Don’t be intimidated!”

Seeing the hesitation on everyone’s faces, Chen Wen immediately boosted morale: ”Just go for it!”

”Yeah! Just go for it!”

Hua Yun tightened her expression, her gaze resolute.

Once she survives this, her pressure will significantly reduce.

Because after returning home, she only needs to complete any one challenge to secure her position as vice president in the association.

And the Desert Extreme Challenge can be said to rank third or fourth in difficulty among the Eight Extremes Challenge.

Upon returning, she just needs to complete one simple challenge.

Therefore, looking at this more vegetated desert, Hua Yun was filled with determination.

Others had their own thoughts too, and after feeling Chen Wen’s resolve, their confidence gradually grew.

”Hehe, this place looks intimidating, but it isn’t too difficult. Folks, let me lead everyone to the finish next!”

Chen Wen said with a cheerful smile.

Dennis interjected, ”Actually, I should be the one leading everyone to the finish, as I am the guide after all!”

”Alright, it doesn’t matter who leads.”

Chen Wen said, ”Then let’s have Mr. Dennis lead the way!”

With Chen Wen’s relaxed tone, everyone was no longer tense.

Under Dennis’s leadership, the group slowly descended toward the plains below.

...

As the Australian Association had already surveyed a fixed route.

At this moment.

Under Dennis’s guidance, the group reached the plain they had just seen.

But as soon as they descended, everyone felt intense discomfort.

It was too hot!

Although it was unbearably hot in the highlands, there was a slight cool breeze that offered some relief.

Moreover, the humidity at the high-altitude wasn’t very high; sweat could evaporate.

But upon reaching the lower ground.

Humidity soared!

”Is this the legendary one hundred percent humidity?”

Wiping the dense sweat off his forehead, Adam couldn’t help but ask.

Dennis nodded.

Glancing around, everyone, like Adam, was drenched in sweat with their clothes soaked through.

Fred, the hottest of them all, had his shirt completely soaked.

However, this wasn’t a place where you could shed clothes.

Not due to modesty, but because the undergrowth hid numerous insects and many sharp shrub branches.

Removing clothes would mean losing the last layer of protection.

The harm from that would be real damage.

”Out of the frying pan into the fire!”

Hua Yun offered a vivid analogy.

”Let’s go first!”

Chen Wen used a spare piece of clothing to wipe the sweat from his forehead.

Here, the effects of the entries ”Resilience” and ”Cactus’s Quality” were diminished.

And the effect of ”Drought Resistance” was cut in half, with the remaining effect being negligible.

Now, Chen Wen was no different from the others.

He also had to endure the harsh environment.

”Wrap a piece of clothing around your hand to wipe off sweat occasionally; it’ll help.”

Chen Wen advised the group.

Upon hearing this, everyone wrapped their spare clothes around their hands.

Chen Wen then glanced at the glaring sun, reminding once more, ”Remember to wear your headscarves, the sun’s radiation here is quite fierce.”

Fred nodded; he had felt it.

At this moment, the skin on his neck felt like it had been whipped with chili-water drenched whips, burning and painful.

The group quickly adjusted their clothing.

Then continued marching forward.

While moving forward, Chen Wen constantly scanned both sides of their path. He noticed that despite the high humidity here, there wasn’t much standing water.

This perplexed Chen Wen, as it was his first time encountering such a terrain.

He couldn’t help but ask Dennis beside him.

But Dennis, clearly a poor student, didn’t know either.

At this moment, scholar Hua Yun kicked at a stone on the ground, then used a wooden spear to dig into the soil a bit.

She then said, ”This is due to the soil composition of this place. Pay attention, the geological base here primarily consists of old, hard, and highly fractured sandstone and basalt. The surface soil is thin, sandy, or gravelly, with very good permeability.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Wen also inspected the ground soil and rocks.

Just as Hua Yun described, the ground rocks mainly consisted of sandstone and basalt.

Chen Wen realized, ”I see, no wonder the underground water in the Great Sand Desert is so abundant. Water here seeps underground, flowing through subterranean rivers into the desert underground. Truly fascinating!”

Having explained the ground conditions, Chen Wen turned to the nearby vegetation: ”The vegetation here must have extensive root systems, thriving and reproducing quickly during the rainy season, being major water absorbers. Got it, I understand.”

Adam added, ”This place is somewhat similar to inland U.S. deserts; the terrain is rough with many canyons. Precipitation flows to the canyons due to terrain, which results in little surface water.”

Fred, who’d been silent, also chimed in, ”And it’s very sunny here with high evaporation. Water evaporates quickly once it lands, which is why the humidity is so high.”

Chen Wen sighed.

He truly didn’t like this kind of terrain.

It’s extremely hot and humid, yet finding a discernible water source is impossible.

Really uncomfortable!

And Dennis felt even worse.

Goodness, am I the only one who knows nothing?

He couldn’t help interrupting everyone, continuing, ”Let’s keep going, make haste, and cut the chatter.”

Everyone chuckled softly and followed Dennis.

...

”When Dennis returns, let’s have him learn some basic knowledge. It’s quite embarrassing to watch.”

The Australian President, observing the real-time footage, couldn’t help but comment.

This footage will be seen by all associations and stored, and some countries will have delayed livestreams online.

Interest in the Eight Extremes Challenge isn’t low worldwide.

Therefore, the association’s reputation should be maintained.

The vice president nodded but didn’t focus on Chen Wen’s group.

Right now, his attention was on another Australian contender, the seed player Elvin.

He, paired with Xu Qiang, formed a duo but still hadn’t made it out of the desert.

With the look of things, it seemed unlikely they would make it out.

Supplies depleted, food exhausted; they had only one camel left.

And at this point, they hadn’t even reached the fourth oasis.

Physically, both were at their limit.

Mentally, they were on the verge of collapse.

”Prepare the rescue team to bring them back. Continuing further might affect their future survival and daily life.”

The vice president commented.

The president glanced at the screen, where Elvin looked like a walking dead, sighing softly, ”Alright.”

The seed players from his team compared to Liu Yu’s were quite inferior!
