Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Return to the camp.

While everyone was busy dividing and cooking the Australian Wild Dog, Chen Wen quietly approached his backpack and took out the item at the bottom.

It was the spoils obtained from the Hunting Owl Team— a handgun.

Holding a gun, one’s heart remains unpanicked.

After Chen Wen carried the handgun with him, Hua Yun also approached.

She handed the agreed-upon anti-inflammatory medicine and bandages to Chen Wen.

After a brief rest, Chen Wen looked at the still-alive Australian Wild Dog.

He had originally planned to kill this Australian Wild Dog to obtain food.

But as Dennis approached the Australian Wild Dog with a knife.

This Australian Wild Dog whimpered, and two words suddenly appeared above its head: [Fear].

Good gracious, it’s a special animal shocked into such a state, just like the Golden Eagle.

Chen Wen thought for a moment and stopped Dennis.

Dennis puzzledly glanced at Chen Wen and put down the knife.

Chen Wen calmly said, ”Let me try; this creature is quite spiritual. I’ll see if I can domesticate it. Later, with its help, finding food will be much easier for us.”

Hearing this, Dennis nodded.

The Australian Wild Dog, as a top predator of Australia, carries a lot of advantages.

Moreover, it combines the advantages of domestic dogs and wild dogs.

It has great endurance, strong bite force, speed, and can endure hunger and thirst.

Aside from having low individual combat power, it has almost no weaknesses.

Therefore, before encountering the Hunting Owl Organization.

Chen Wen planned to gain a top-tier perk from the wild dog to alleviate the current pressure.

Carrying the wild dog outside the camp, Chen Wen loosened the rope a bit and said, ”Hey, do you want to live?”

Upon hearing Chen Wen’s voice, the wild dog paused for a moment.

But it quickly reacted, ”Yes!”

The instinct for survival prompted it to make the right choice instantly.

For [Fear] type special animals, Chen Wen’s approach was simple, use a tough attitude to make them temporarily yield, then employ gentle means to gain trust and finally obtain the perk.

Emotional bonding can be cultivated later.

Thus, Chen Wen began executing the first step of his plan, firmness!

He sternly said, ”Listen to me, and I’ll let you live, moreover, if I have food to eat, I won’t let you go hungry. If you don’t listen, you’ll immediately be killed by the person holding the knife!”

The wild dog’s body trembled incessantly, clearly already deeply frightened.

Just as Chen Wen had guessed, facing the pressure Chen Wen brought, along with the knife-wielding Dennis nearby.

It decisively submitted, ”Okay! I’ll listen to you!”

However, despite submitting, this Australian Wild Dog did not accept becoming Chen Wen’s friend.

Therefore, Chen Wen initiated the second step of his plan.

He untied the rope from the Australian Wild Dog, and after it stood up, Chen Wen hesitated for a moment.

But quickly, he directly asked, ”Do you want revenge?”

Revenge?

The Australian Wild Dog was taken aback.

Chen Wen didn’t wait for its reply, sat down cross-legged, and said, ”Earlier, I saw your situation. That dead fellow companion should have been a friend or something, right?”

The Australian Wild Dog hesitated, shook its head, ”Not really a friend, we were from the same group. It... was my last kin.”

Hearing this, Chen Wen leaned forward slightly, ”Has your group’s members all died?”

”Yes, including the leader, all the members have died...”

Saying this, the Australian Wild Dog trembled.

Now, besides fearing humans, it also carried confusion about the future.

With all group members dead, it either had to find a new group to try joining.

Or survive as a lone dog on this dangerous land.

Only these two choices, yet both are extremely risky!

But at this moment, Chen Wen offered it a third choice, ”How about this, just as I said, you follow me, and after surviving this time, well, after a while, I’ll take you away from here to a very safe place with abundant food. How do you feel about that?”

This proposal left the Australian Wild Dog bewildered.

Given its newly acquired intellect, Chen Wen’s actions were utterly baffling to the dog.

First, it got beaten, then offered an irresistible condition.

Then, it was offered a chance to go to an Australian Wild Dog version of paradise.

What on earth was this two-legged creature planning?

The Australian Wild Dog wasn’t clear but felt it could perhaps try to trust this two-legged creature.

Hence, the Australian Wild Dog said, ”It’s doable. I’ve found surviving in this area alone quite tough anyway. But what do you mean by revenge?”

Chen Wen organized his thoughts and said, ”Simply put, it’s about killing those people who killed your fellow kin. They also intend to kill me, so I plan to counterkill them with you. If you want revenge, help me out, how about it?”

Upon hearing Chen Wen’s words, the Australian Wild Dog immediately relaxed.

Turned out the two-legged creatures had struggles similar to those in the wild dog pack.

The Australian Wild Dog nodded, ”Okay! I’ll help you!”

As the system conveyed some activity, Chen Wen’s two-step plan was declared a success!

He closed his eyes, immersed himself into the system, and quickly reviewed the perk offered by the Australian Wild Dog.

The wild dog’s top-tier perk was indeed quite promising.

Chen Wen briefly examined it and swiftly confirmed his choice.

[Perception (Gold): Enhances your perception ability, boosting dynamic vision, hearing, smell, and intuitive judgment of danger. The degree of enhancement depends on the current perception ability and related perks of perception ability]

This perk looked interesting!

Chen Wen contemplated that he had previously obtained similar perks, though the practical effects weren’t particularly impressive.

But the gold-level [Perception] should be quite different, right?

After choosing this perk, Chen Wen’s body immediately reacted.

The first to be affected was his vision.

Since during this survival period Chen Wen had already acquired a vision-enhancing perk—[Far-sighted Vision] provided by the Screaming Kite, upon choosing it, it felt like he suddenly had a telescope in front of him.

At this moment, Chen Wen’s vision completely transcended the human visual limit.

Chen Wen looked straight ahead, where everything became incredibly clear.

Even hundreds of meters away, a bug on a tree trunk flapped its wings and flew up, and Chen Wen could see it all clearly.

Including the wing patterns!

This must be the enhancement described in [Perception], based on the improvement from current perception ability-related perks.

Seeing further away!

Chen Wen thought.

Meanwhile, his sense of smell also got boosted, though compared to the enhancement in vision, this improvement was comparatively weaker.

Hearing was similar to smell, but perhaps due to Chen Wen’s already strong hearing, overall, the enhancement was somewhat greater than for the sense of smell.

The effect of danger perception ability was not yet clear to Chen Wen.

However, as described, this perk seemed akin to Spider-Man’s Spidey sense?

Not clear yet, but Chen Wen felt this perk could be quite useful.

After adapting to the enhanced vision, Chen Wen looked at the Australian Wild Dog that seemed to still be in a dream.

He extended his hand and said, ”Since that’s settled, we’re a family from now on! There are two other family members here, I’ll introduce them to you later, and I’ve also thought of a name for you.”

Name?

The Australian Wild Dog was a bit perplexed, what was this thing?

But Chen Wen cheerfully gazed at the Australian Wild Dog’s appearance: golden dog, white face, speckled tongue, a fine rural dog look.

Thus, he said, ”From now on, you’ll be called Dahuang!”

Dahuang...

The Australian Wild Dog felt an inexplicable sense of closeness to this name— not bad at all!
