Wilderness Survival with Druid System

By the time Chen Wen returned to the camp, the feast was almost ready.

Salted kangaroo meat, corn porridge, and baobab fruit.

Adding the passion fruits and figs that Chen Wen brought back, it could even be considered a four-course meal with soup in some countries.

However, Hua Yun frowned slightly as she looked at the fruits Chen Wen brought back, feeling that these fruits looked extremely sour!

The green color alone made her doubt.

But the others didn’t think much of it, they casually mixed the passion fruits into the figs.

After Chen Wen cleaned his hands, the feast officially began!

Although the boiled kangaroo meat still had a heavy gamey taste, the addition of salt somewhat improved the flavor.

And corn porridge, needless to say, boiled corn kernels paired with white rice.

The sweet aroma was a delicacy in the wilderness!

As for the baobab fruit, this time the picking was just right, it was actually juicy to eat and didn’t choke as much.

But the taste was still a bit sour.

While the figs leaned towards being sweet.

Sweetness is the taste of happiness.

After everyone ate a few figs, their mood instantly improved, and they became more talkative.

Chatting and eating the feast, how pleasant it was!

However, this pleasant feeling quietly changed when Chen Wen picked up a passion fruit.

Seeing that no one else ate the passion fruit, Chen Wen proactively picked it up.

After opening the green fruit, Chen Wen looked inside.

A blank white.

It’s not ripe at all!

Chen Wen mentally braced himself.

He slightly held his breath and decisively put the passion fruit in his mouth.

From the moment Chen Wen took out the fruit, the others had been watching and immediately looked over.

Chen Wen chewed a few times expressionlessly, then slightly frowned and swallowed it.

”How does it taste?”

Dennis asked curiously.

Chen Wen clicked his tongue, his tone indifferent, ”It’s alright, just sour and astringent, not ripe, but still within my tolerance range.”

Saying this, he put the other half of the fruit in his mouth and chewed, looking quite content.

The others, seeing this, curiously picked up the passion fruit.

To be honest, when Chen Wen initially distributed the fruit to everyone, they felt it didn’t seem like something people could eat.

Just looking at the appearance gave the impression of being very sour.

But Chen Wen’s earlier expression didn’t seem fake.

After all, if he were pretending to trick them, there was no need for him to show a displeased expression and inform them about the fruit’s sour taste.

So, mimicking Chen Wen’s action, they opened the passion fruit.

Hua Yun, after opening it, brought the fruit to her nose to sniff.

Relying solely on the sense of smell, it was too difficult to discern this thing’s sourness, besides a faint fruit fragrance, Hua Yun didn’t smell anything else.

Could it really be edible?

Thinking this, Hua Yun hesitated no longer and ate half the passion fruit in one bite.

And just as she ate the passion fruit, her peripheral vision suddenly caught Chen Wen.

At this moment, Chen Wen was no longer hiding, he was swiftly eating figs, using their sweetness to dispel the passion fruit’s acidity.

Oh no!

Hua Yun attempted to stop chewing, but it was too late!

The sour juices burst forth with the chewing, and Hua Yun immediately squinted her eyes, putting on a mask of pain.

Damn!

Did I just swallow a hedgehog raw?

Why does it feel like a thousand silver needles are stabbing my mouth!

It feels awful!

Oh my god!

As the juice flowed down the throat, entering it, an even greater pain came.

Hua Yun felt like she just ate poison!

Meanwhile, after seeing Hua Yun eat the passion fruit, the others weren’t willing to be outdone and started eating too.

At this moment, they felt like dying.

”Chen Wen! Ugh!”

Adam’s eyes widened, and before he could finish speaking, he couldn’t help but start retching.

”Ei~~~~ ah!!!”

Dennis was clutching his throat, as if it had been cut by the sour fruit.

Fred’s mouth was twisted, and saliva flowed out like a flood breaking through a dam.

Hua Yun said hoarsely, ”Hiss! Chen Wen... you, you’re ruthless!”

Chen Wen calmly swallowed the fig flesh and said slowly, ”I really think it’s alright, the taste isn’t particularly sour.”

It might be because of all the random things he had eaten before, Chen Wen felt his taste had somewhat regressed.

Now eating something very strong didn’t seem as powerful as before.

Except for chili!

After taking a sip of tea, Chen Wen calmly chose an entry.

The others also began using the fig’s taste to suppress the taste of the passion fruit.

Finally, when Chen Wen finished choosing an entry, the others came back to life.

The entry brought by the passion fruit to Chen Wen wasn’t bad.

[Calm (Purple): Actively use the entry to stabilize emotions, stay calm, and maintain a clear mind. ps: Active entry, requires six hours of recovery time each time it’s used, and the calming effect depends on the degree of mental stability]

Another active entry, but one that helps calm oneself down.

Overall, it’s still in line with Chen Wen’s intentions.

In the survival days ahead, he would frequently encounter sudden events, and staying calm would increase the success rate of dealing with such sudden events.

After selecting the entry, Chen Wen opened his eyes and was met with several resentful gazes.

He cleared his throat and said, ”Well, this can’t be blamed on me, right? I clearly told you it was a bit sour and astringent, who knew you’d just eat it in one bite.”

Adam sighed softly, ”That’s because we trust you!”

Dennis added, ”We didn’t think your strategy would be so deep.”

Fred bluntly said, ”When we get back, I suggest you see a doctor. Your taste seems much duller than ours.”

Chen Wen nodded slightly, ”I’ve also realized this issue, having eaten so many random things in survival before, now apart from spicy, I find other flavors almost not that intense anymore.”

Upon hearing this, Dennis’s eyes lit up.

He knew Perth had several restaurants specializing in spicy dishes!

Afterwards...

Hehe!

After Chen Wen finished speaking, Hua Yun added, ”It’s best to have a comprehensive check-up, especially focusing on your heart!”

Chen Wen was taken aback, ”Why?”

”Because your heart is black!”

Hua Yun said with a resentful tone.

”Hahahaha!”

Chen Wen was amused.

After this little episode, everyone’s mood rose again.

In the afternoon.

Led by Chen Wen, the group maintained a certain pace and continued on the second plain.

Although there were more trees here, it wasn’t particularly difficult to traverse.

And with Chen Wen leading the way, the group’s pace didn’t slow down at all.

...

As Chen Wen and the group entered this plain, on the other side, another team arrived at the same place.

”Are you sure it’s this plain?”

A burly man with a round face and a bushy beard, wrapped in a Star-Spangled bandana, said.

”It should be, according to my inside contact’s estimation, their route of advance is the original route!”

Beside him, a man with darkened skin said.

He wasn’t a person of color; this skin tone was from sun exposure.

”If we find them, Habakkuk, you’ll get the first credit!”

The man with the beard said.

Habakkuk chuckled, flattering, ”No, no, it’s mainly thanks to you, Mr. Enzo. If it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t be able to make it here, but we must still be cautious of the survival kid, he’s dangerous!”

Enzo nodded expressionlessly, using the barrel of the handgun in his hand to scratch his temple, ”Survival? This sort of stuff I got tired of in the army, what danger can a kid who only knows survival possibly have?”
