Wilderness Survival with Druid System

As it turns out, Dennis’s premonitions were quite accurate,

when the emu meat stew was cooked, warm and fragrant aromas washed over them.

Dennis wiped his sweat with a towel as he distributed the emu meat stew along with pieces of meat to the group.

Chen Wen held his can close to his nose, inhaling the scent.

It had a hint of chicken soup aroma, mixed with a faint earthy smell.

The smell wasn’t unpleasant, and it seemed like it would taste good.

Thinking about this, Chen Wen used two sticks to pick up a piece of emu meat and put it in his mouth.

”Is it good?”

Dennis looked at Chen Wen with anticipation, confident in his cooking skills.

Chen Wen chewed the emu meat and nodded slightly, ”It’s okay, though there’s a bit of an earthy taste, it doesn’t affect the overall flavor. Overall, it’s much better than kangaroo meat!”

”That’s good to hear!”

Dennis quickly handed the rest of the can to the group.

It was only then that Chen Wen realized, it seemed like every time he ate, the others would only start after he had tasted it.

What the hell, have I become the poison tester?

Chen Wen shook his head, trying not to think about it.

He swallowed the emu meat and took a sip of the broth.

The soup also had an earthy taste, but it’s definitely tolerable.

Chen Wen nodded contentedly, wiping the sweat off his forehead.

At the same time, the system also activated.

The emu entry wasn’t bad, offering two purple positive entries.

Chen Wen looked at it for a while and chose one of them—[Strong Feet].

[Strong Feet (Purple): Your legs will become stronger, providing slight shock absorption while running, suitable for long distances]

[Note: Choose Emu brand running shoes to run more effortlessly~—Emu]

This entry was decent.

At least for future challenges, it has room to come in handy.

After selecting the entry, Chen Wen focused on dealing with the meat chunks in front of him.

Soon, the pot of meat stew was completely devoured by the group.

And at this time, the emu eggs were also roasted.

Dennis helped the group place the emu eggs on cans, letting everyone use the cans as insulators, and then using sticks to scoop and eat them.

The taste of roasted emu eggs was quite good as well.

Combined with the dark green shell of the emu eggs, everyone found it quite novel.

After a satisfying meal, the group continued their journey.

The afternoon plains felt even more sweltering.

Chen Wen looked at the increasingly stifling weather and sun, feeling helpless.

Exposed for so long, with the temperature so high, the evaporation must be considerable.

The current sky over the Kimberley Plateau was basically a massive humid heat mass filled with water vapor. Once cold air arrived, the rain wouldn’t stop.

Facing the heavy rain without shelter, besides finding a place to hide and delaying their travel, there were no other possibilities.

Traveling through rain was even more ridiculous.

Walking in the rain would definitely cause hypothermia, and hypothermia can be fatal!

With these concerns, the group pressed on swiftly.

They aimed to cross the plain before the rain arrived.

At night, the group still found a big tree to rest under.

And Chen Wen and Dennis still called on the whistle hawk, heading to a nearby Baobab Tree to pick baobab fruit to eat.

...

Five days or so passed like this.

The group was about to cross this vast plain, and the end of the plain appeared before them.

But just as they were about to exit the plain that afternoon, an unexpected event occurred.

Exactly as Chen Wen feared, a large amount of evaporated water vapor accumulated over the Kimberley Plateau, refusing to dissipate.

In such a situation, once cold air arrived, it would lead to precipitation.

So that afternoon, when the group noticed the sky ahead darkening, they realized the cold air had arrived!

”It’s going to rain!”

Chen Wen said, his expression unusually serious: ”We can’t keep getting wet; while it’s still just overcast and the rain hasn’t started, we should quickly find a place to avoid the rain!”

Upon hearing this, everyone nodded.

Suddenly, a flash of white lightning streaked across the sky.

The intense white light tore through the dark clouds, illuminating their faces.

Everyone froze, staring at the lightning.

A moment later, a rumbling thunder rolled in from a distance.

”Lightning! Damn, almost forgot!”

Dennis smacked his forehead, loudly reminding Chen Wen: ”The Kimberley Plateau is also an area prone to thunderstorms; if not for the sparse population, there would probably be deaths annually due to thunderstorms!”

”Especially in the inland areas, the intensity and frequency of thunderstorms in Australia rank high! Especially during the summer heat, which is now, lightning can repeatedly penetrate clouds, creating thunderstorm cloud phenomena lasting several tens of seconds!”

Hearing this, everyone’s faces changed dramatically.

This rugged Kimberley Plateau, dealing with sweltering rain was one thing; we could endure it.

But why does it have to thunder too?

And in Australia’s famous thunderstorm area, with thunderstorm clouds, a phenomena Chen Wen had never even heard of!

”Damn, why didn’t your information mention this?”

Chen Wen couldn’t help but ask, feeling uncharacteristically flustered.

Because when facing lightning, Chen Wen had no surefire way to avoid it.

If struck by lightning, he’d be toast!

Upon hearing this, Dennis scratched his head: ”I think it was mentioned, but not much, since it was open to the public data...”

Chen Wen pointed at Dennis: ”Your association is really something!”

Facing lightning, Chen Wen’s experience was still lacking.

He asked, ”What should we do? I only know that during thunderstorms, you shouldn’t stand under trees or near open water, but that’s about it.”

Hearing this, Dennis was just about to share what he knew with everyone.

Suddenly, another rumble of thunder rolled closer.

Chen Wen’s expression changed again.

For some reason, he felt like the thunder was even nearer this time!

At this moment, Whistle Hawk seemed to have sensed something.

It quickly reminded Chen Wen: ”We shouldn’t stay here any longer; I have a bad feeling!”

Chen Wen took a deep breath and nodded slightly.

Then he turned to Dennis: ”Let’s stop talking and find a place to shelter from the storm and rain; let’s ensure our safety first!”

Hearing this, Dennis nodded.

This was no time to waste.

Dennis looked around, and soon, he spotted a suitable place for sheltering: ”Over there, that area will do!”

Following Dennis’s pointed direction, Fred couldn’t help but interrupt: ”Are you sure about that? Isn’t that a patch of woods? Aren’t we supposed to stay away from trees?”

Dennis motioned for everyone to follow him, then explained, ”Indeed, you shouldn’t stay near solitary trees, but a forest is fine, as long as you steer clear of the tallest trees.”

As Dennis spoke, Chen Wen suddenly noticed Dennis’s hair standing straight up, almost like it was electrified.

Seeing this, Chen Wen felt a chill all over.
