Chapter 588: Chapter 76: Preparation

Hidden Rain Village, inside the hospital.

”This is the map of Konoha.”

Konan spread a map on the table, Su Xiao and Nagato looked at the map.

Attacking Konoha is not a simple task, adequate preparation is required. Even though Nagato is very powerful, a reckless attack on Konoha could fail.

”There are three main attack points: Konoha Hospital, the logistics supply depot, and the gathering point for Konoha Patrol Ninja. Destroying these three places can easily cripple Konoha...”

Konan began to narrate her plan.

”This plan...”

Although Nagato was staring at the map, he seemed to be considering something else.

”What’s wrong, Nagato?”

Konan felt her plan was quite complete.

”It’s nothing, just proceed with your plan, and be ready to adapt if any surprises occur.”

In fact, Nagato already had a plan in his mind. Simply defeating Konoha was not his goal; he wanted to obliterate Konoha completely.

”Our purpose this time is not just to attack Konoha; there is a more important mission.”

”The Nine-Tails, perhaps.”

Su Xiao guessed what Nagato was about to say.

”Yes, the Nine-Tails. Someone is already capturing the Eight-Tails, so the Nine-Tails will be captured during this operation. Bai Ye, be restrained when capturing the Nine-Tails.”

Nagato meant that Su Xiao should not harm the Tailed Beast excessively.

”We’ll see when the time comes, capturing the Jinchuriki alive is no easy task, especially the Nine-Tails.”

The three continued discussing, gradually refining the action plan.

However, before executing the plan, many preparations were necessary, such as entrusting some high-difficulty tasks to Konoha.

The expenditures of large ninja villages are substantial, and relying solely on the support of the Daimyo is clearly insufficient. Critical resources cannot be entirely controlled by others, so major ninja villages accept commissions from other forces. The larger the village, the higher the fee. Though the fees are high, these ninja villages have good credit, with Konoha and Iwagakure leading the way.

After receiving a commission, ninja villages will dispatch ninjas to execute it. Konan submitted a commission to Konoha through special channels, and the difficulty of the commission was not low, with a generous offer.

These channels have been developed over a long period, having collaborated with Konoha several times, so there’s no concern of Konoha growing suspicious.

Weakening the enemy equates to strengthening oneself. Su Xiao and others would use any method that increases the odds of victory against Konoha.

Even so, neither Nagato nor Konan planned to employ ninja from the Hidden Rain Village.

Furthermore, during the battle, Konan would try to avoid appearing in Konoha. Even if she did appear, all eyewitnesses would have to be eliminated.

Matters of the Hidden Rain Village were all handled by Konan. Although the village was secluded from the world, leaking some information about her was inevitable.

If Konan were exposed, the remnants of Konoha after the war would trace back and definitely confront them.

...

Once everything was prepared, on the eve of the battle, Su Xiao, Konan, and Nagato left the Land of Rain, shrouded in the darkness of night. The rains in the Land of Rain unusually halted.

The Land of Rain is located in the seam between the Country of Fire and the Sand Country, not too far from Konoha. Traveling at full speed, it takes just over ten hours to reach there.

Su Xiao rode on Bubu Wang’s back, while Nagato and Konan ran on foot. Nagato’s health had recovered, so this level of journeying was nothing.

Su Xiao lowered his head, light flickering in his hands, seemingly molding something. Seeing this scene, Konan, who was running, instinctively moved away from Su Xiao as if he were holding something dangerous in his hands.

”So that’s how it is.”

Su Xiao seemed to be researching something, neither nodding nor shaking his head.

In his hands was a piece of blue clay, obtained through an exchange with Deidara for the detonation clay technique. He had provided the special-level alchemy bomb formula to acquire this from Deidara.

Of course, acquiring this technique didn’t mean he had the same abilities as Deidara. Detonation clay was just a rudimentary form; its power was not considerable. The key was the post-processing, which was the source of Deidara’s strength, what Deidara termed artistry.

Originally, detonation clay was not created for combat but was a raw material for fireworks. After Deidara’s modifications, it attained its current power.

Su Xiao observed the blue clay in his hand. This stuff was similar in nature to detonation clay. Detonation clay was infused with chakra, while this blue clay was infused with Blue Steel Shadow Energy.

Although special-level alchemy bombs were powerful and convenient to carry, without materials, they could only be manufactured in Reincarnation Paradise, and their cost was high.

Su Xiao had always wanted to improve the alchemy bomb, at least enabling its manufacture anytime, not stored in an inventory manner.

He had been researching the detonation clay technique for over half a month, and today he finally produced a product, although the results were unsatisfactory.

It was proven that special-level alchemy bombs and detonation clay could not be mutually referenced. Although they looked similar, their effects were alike, but the materials and manufacturing techniques were very different.

The blue clay Su Xiao manufactured neither exploded nor could change shape.

Sometimes persistence is necessary, but persisting without hope is foolish.

”As expected, detonation clay and alchemy bombs are fundamentally different, which was to be expected.”

Su Xiao tossed aside the piece of blue clay, which disappeared as Bubu Wang ran along.

The experiment failed, causing him some frustration. Chakra and Blue Steel Shadow are different in nature and function, so failure was not unexpected.

”If I could master chakra, there’s still hope. Chakra...”

Su Xiao suddenly thought of a possibility, one that might be able to improve the special-level alchemy bomb.

An alchemy bomb is produced with several materials plus mana value. What might happen if mana value was replaced with Blue Steel Shadow Energy?

This hypothesis, once it appeared, lingered in his mind, and he was eager to experiment.

Unfortunately, this hypothesis could not be tested until he returned to Reincarnation Paradise. Though it couldn’t be tested yet, he could simulate whether this method was feasible in his mind.

Thoughts occupied his mind, making the journey less monotonous. Before they knew it, the three arrived within Konoha’s borders.

Upon reaching the forest near Konoha, the trio didn’t immediately assault Konoha. First, they had to help Nagato find a hiding place and set up the console for Nagato to control the six Pains.

This task fell to Konan. With a wave of her hand, a large number of papers flew out, converging together, ultimately taking the shape of a tree.

After shaping, the paper-made tree had branches and leaves. Unless observed closely, it was impossible to tell it was a fake tree.

Surrounding Konoha is a vast forest with countless types of trees. Therefore, this peculiar fake tree, nearly ten meters in diameter, though shorter than other trees, wasn’t conspicuous.

Konan entered the fake tree to begin setting up the console for Nagato to control the six Pains, which had a wooden structure and a black metal base, the same material as the metal studs on Nagato’s body.

Three hours later, the console was successfully set up. With this, Nagato could long-range control the six Pains.

The six Pains may be powerful, but controlling them had numerous prerequisites, a ninjutsu developed by Nagato using the Rinnegan.
