Chapter 567: Chapter 55: Fangs of Dawn

”Trouble, just had a falling out with that guy.”

At this point, finding Orochimaru was clearly impossible, having just raided his laboratory.

Since Orochimaru was not an option, he could only turn to Brother Danzo, who failed to run for village leader. That guy’s sense of good and evil is ambiguous, but cooperation is possible.

But before that, Su Xiao had other matters to attend to, like going with Itachi’s team to capture the Four-Tails.

Just as Su Xiao was about to get up and leave, a fluctuation came from the Ring of Space; it was Nagato summoning him.

Finding a hidden location, Su Xiao took out the Eye of the Apostle to activate the Air Guard ability.

The Eye of the Apostle floated into the air, changing shape from a mechanical eye to a disc, releasing dozens of wavelengths to scan the surroundings.

[The Air Guard has been deployed, lasting 12 hours.]

Not only was there the Air Guard monitoring the surroundings, but Bubu Wang was also patrolling nearby.

”Phantom Lantern Body Jutsu.”

Consuming Mana Value to use the Phantom Lantern Body Jutsu, light flickered before Su Xiao’s eyes. When he opened them again, he was in a sealed cavern. The Gedo Statue was already there, and he was standing on its finger.

An Akatsuki member had captured a Jinchuriki, and the process of sealing a Tailed Beast was about to begin.

”Everyone’s here.”

Heavenly Dao formed a seal with his hands; below, the body of a female Jinchuriki floated up.

”Which tailed beast is this?”

Su Xiao felt quite helpless; joining the Akatsuki had this downside — wasting time on sealing Jinchuriki.

”Two-Tails. I caught it. Is your dog with you?”

Hidan spoke, touching his cheek. He actually brought up Bubu Wang proactively; at this time, both he and Kakuza were present in body.

”Phantom Lantern Body, it can’t come.”

”Is that so, what a pity. I wanted to ’get revenge’ on it.”

Hidan sighed, and Kakuza, standing beside him, turned his head as if finding Hidan disgraceful. But when Su Xiao saw Kakuza, he wanted to laugh. It’s said this guy had clashed with Hashirama, though their powers were worlds apart.

This fellow didn’t really, as rumors had it, throw a shuriken at Hashirama from ’eight hundred miles’ away, did he...

”Silence, the sealing has begun. This sealing will last about two days.”

”Two days? Seems like the sealing speed has increased.”

Hidan chuckled.

”Yes, three Tailed Beasts have already been sealed, and as the statue awakens a bit, the speed will naturally increase.”

The One Tail wasn’t the first Tailed Beast to be sealed; there were two others before it. Su Xiao had just joined the Akatsuki Organization, so Nagato hadn’t mentioned it to him prior.

Looking at the eyes of the Gedo Statue, indeed three of its nine eyes were open.

The first two Tailed Beasts were captured by Nagato and Obito personally and then sealed. Afterward, they felt the progress was too slow and began recruiting members to speed up the process.

The tedious and lengthy sealing began.

Two days later, Heavenly Dao, who had been keeping still, opened his eyes.

”Good, the sealing is complete.”

The corpse of the Two-Tail Jinchuriki dropped to the ground. Just as everyone was about to leave, Heavenly Dao spoke up.

”We need to speed up capturing the Tailed Beasts. The Five Great Shinobi Villages have noticed our activities and will soon send people to stop us.”

After a moment of contemplation, Heavenly Dao looked towards Itachi.

”Itachi, you, Bai Ye, and Kisame should capture the Four-Tails as originally planned, but be quick.”

”No problem.”

Itachi nodded, and Heavenly Dao then looked at Deidara.

”Deidara, you’re responsible for capturing the Three-Tails. Konan will tell you its exact location.”

”No problem, yeah.”

Deidara’s limbs had been stitched, his combat strength had been restored, and he had a new teammate, Ah Fei, who was Obito.

”I’ll personally handle the Six-Tails. As for the remaining Eight-Tails and Nine-Tails... ”

Heavenly Dao glanced at Hidan and Kakuza.

”The Eight-Tails is yours. We’ll consider the Nine-Tails later. That’s all.”

Heavenly Dao’s phantom disappeared, and Su Xiao also deactivated the Phantom Lantern Body Jutsu, returning his consciousness to his own body.

Opening his eyes, Su Xiao lit a cigarette and took a deep inhale.

”It seems the One Tail incident really angered Nagato, mobilizing the entire Akatsuki.”

If everything went smoothly, all of these Tailed Beasts would be sealed within ten days — that is, if everything went smoothly.

Within these teams capturing the Tailed Beasts, the combination of Hidan and Kakuza seemed bleak. The reason was that the Fourth Raikage of the Cloud Village was quite powerful; even Er Zhuzi with the Mangekyo nearly got kicked to death by that brute.

The Raikage’s body is incredibly strong, and whether Hidan can obtain his blood remains unknown.

No point thinking about this. Su Xiao needed to seize the opportunity to capture the Four-Tails, the last Tailed Beast he could potentially capture.

Su Xiao rode Bu Bu Wang, heading straight for the border of the Country of Fire towards the Grass Country, where Itachi and Kisame were nearby.

...

Three days later, on the border of the Country of Fire.

Sitting on the edge of a cliff, Su Xiao played a puzzle game on a tablet, while Bubu Wang stood on a tall rock, howling at the sky as if its royal bloodline had awakened.

”Stop howling, you’ve been at it since morning.”

”Aw~”

Bubu Wang let out a wolf-like howl, feeling invigorated.

”What a fool.”

Ignoring Bubu Wang, Su Xiao continued playing the puzzle game.

A few hours later, footsteps were heard. Su Xiao did not turn around; he already sensed who it was.

”Have you been waiting long?”

The newcomer asked.

”Just a day.”

Su Xiao put away the tablet, stretching. Itachi, Kisame, and Shinfuru had arrived.

Glancing at Shinfuru, this red-haired girl seemed a bit lethargic, occasionally yawning.

”I mean, even if I’m a prisoner, the treatment doesn’t have to be this bad.”

Shinfuru, suffering from severe lack of sleep, protested. Clearly, Su Xiao and the others ignored Shinfuru’s protest.

”Where is the Four-Tail’s approximate location?”

”The Land of Earth, near the Great River Valley.”

The place Itachi mentioned was barely precise. The Great River Valley spanned a large area, making it difficult to locate the Four-Tail Jinchuriki there, hence the need for Shinfuru.

”The Four-Tail Jinchuriki is affiliated with the Iwagakure Ninja Village, named Old Purple. He’s stubborn and had a falling out with the Fourth Tsuchikage, Two Scales of Ohnoki, leaving Iwagakure Ninja Village early but never leaving the Land of Earth.”

Su Xiao was aware of this information but wasn’t sure about one thing.

”If we capture the Four-Tail Jinchuriki, will that old man Ohnoki step in?”

The strength of the Third Tsuchikage was undeniable, famed in major ninja villages for his Dust Shield.

”If we’re quick, it won’t be a problem.”

”Then let’s go.”

Su Xiao stood up, and the four-man team headed straight for the Land of Earth.

The Grass Country was wedged between the Land of Earth and the Country of Fire, which is why Itachi chose to meet there.

The Grass Country was small, and at full speed, they crossed it in less than a day.

The next morning, a tall rock wall appeared ahead; the Land of Earth was just in front.

Most of the Land of Earth consisted of barren rock walls, with varying heights blocking transportation. The shortage of land and inconvenient transportation made the economic situation of the Land of Earth predictable.

However, the Third Tsuchikage of Iwagakure Ninja Village, Da Ye Mu, was very capable. Though his country had no resources, he plundered resources from surrounding small countries.

So, small countries surrounding the Land of Earth suffered, like the Grass Country, Country of Bears, and Country of Ghosts.

These small countries lacked strength and could only grit their teeth despite the oppression. Under such policies, the Land of Earth’s economy was decent. It wasn’t as wealthy as the Country of Fire but far wealthier than the Land of Water and the Land of Wind.

The Land of Water had it tough. Even if they wanted to rob, they had no option as there were no small countries nearby, just fishing opportunities.

...

One day after entering the Land of Earth.

As strong wind blew, Su Xiao shielded his face with his hand. Tiny bits of gravel lifted by the wind stung on impact, a phenomenon known as the Rock Rain climate for which the Land of Earth is famous.

”Ahead is the Great River Valley. Have you sensed any special Chakra?”

Itachi was asking Shinfuru, who shook her head.

”Haven’t sensed it.”

Su Xiao walked over to Shinfuru, placing a hand on her shoulder. Her body was soft and had a faint fragrance. This scent didn’t come from perfume or any supposed body scent but from a subtle energy.

”Seems like your treatment these few days wasn’t that great.”

Shinfuru shrank a bit, whispering, ”It... it’s okay.”

Su Xiao’s sudden friendliness made Shinfuru uneasy.

”Find the Four-Tails in three days, or I’ll kill you.”

Under torture for days, tears welled in Shinfuru’s eyes. She dared not slack off and enhanced the range of her perception.

”I think I’ve found it. I’ve sensed a hot Chakra, and it’s quite large, at Tailed Beast level.”
