Chapter 553: Chapter 41: Shield

Checking Blue Steel Shadow at Level 20, Su Xiao’s face lit up with joy.

The previous Magical Power Explosion Effect disappeared, replaced by a new ability. While burning the enemy’s Mana Value, it not only causes True Damage equivalent to the burned Mana Value but also adds an additional 8% True Damage of the enemy’s lost Mana Value. This ability is much stronger than the one-time, long-cooldown Magical Power Explosion.

As the level of Blue Steel Shadow increased, the Mana Value consumption became increasingly horrific, reaching 50 Mana Value per minute.

Now, Su Xiao has 1488 Mana Value, allowing him to activate Blue Steel Shadow for 30 minutes.

In comparison, the power of Blue Steel Shadow has increased significantly, unmatched by its previous self.

Moreover, at Level 20, Blue Steel Shadow gains two new abilities. The first is the manifestation of Blue Steel Shadow Energy, forming an Energy Shield. The shape of this Energy Shield is formed based on Su Xiao’s intention and can be round or rectangular.

The strength of the Energy Shield is adjustable. Su Xiao can choose to consume 50 to 300 Mana Value to form an Energy Shield. The higher the Mana Value consumed, the stronger the Energy Shield.

Although Su Xiao has sharp attacks, defense has always been a weak point. Most battles are defended against enemy attacks using ’Shelter’ or ’Secondary Invincible Shield’. If he really can’t defend, he can only rely on his body to withstand it.

Both shields have a long cooldown time and can only be used once during battle.

With the Energy Shield now, it’s different. The Energy Shield has no cooldown time. As long as Su Xiao’s Mana Value is sufficient, the Energy Shield can be used continuously, providing him with a regular means of defense against enemies.

The shape, size, thickness, and even the position of the Energy Shield are all determined by Su Xiao. He can instantly generate an Energy Shield at any position within a meter nearby.

Su Xiao flicked his hand, and a rectangular Energy Shield appeared out of thin air on his hand. Due to deliberate suppression, the Energy Shield’s size is very small, just palm-sized, floating in his palm.

This Energy Shield is light blue, with the edges being a deeper blue. Overall, it is somewhat transparent and does not block the view. The surface of the shield has intricate patterns that are not noticeable unless looked at closely.

The Energy Shield floats immovably mid-air. Su Xiao can manipulate the Energy Shield with intention. Being a manifestation of Blue Steel Shadow Energy, he maneuvers it as if it were an extension of his arm, without any difficulty.

However, Su Xiao can only manipulate the Energy Shield within a distance of one meter. Beyond that range, while it’s not impossible to control, it requires consuming a massive amount of Mana Value. Controlling the Energy Shield two meters away would consume hundreds of Mana Value per second, which is just exaggerated.

In comparison, the Mana Value consumption for Su Xiao to control the Energy Shield within a meter is almost negligible.

He pinched the Energy Shield with his fingers and exerted force.

Crack～

Su Xiao’s lip twitched. It was not the Energy Shield that broke but rather the thing was just too hard, and the sound just now was from his finger joints.

Looking at the Energy Shield in his hand, it was formed by converting 50 Mana Value into Blue Steel Shadow Energy. With such strength, he could break it with his sword.

If he constructs the Energy Shield with 80 Mana Value, breaking it becomes slightly difficult.

At 100 Mana Value, it would take at least 3 to 4 sword strikes given his current sword technique.

At 150 Mana Value, it is not worth considering. If Su Xiao can break it within 10 strikes, it would be impressive.

Starting at 200 Mana Value, breaking it becomes quite challenging, with a conservative estimate requiring slashing for several minutes.

As for the highest strength at 300 Mana Value, Su Xiao cannot break through Energy Shields of that caliber.

Once the Energy Shield is formed, it doesn’t exist indefinitely and has a time limit. If not broken by an enemy, the Energy Shield maintains its highest strength for the first ten minutes. After ten minutes, it starts showing signs of disintegration until it completely disappears after half an hour.

Therefore, the Energy Shield should not be used continuously. It is best to block the enemy’s attack point right after they launch an attack for defense.

As for whether the floating Energy Shield will be struck and fly away, this is not a concern at all. The Energy Shield centers around Su Xiao. As long as the enemy’s attack is insufficient to knock Su Xiao away, the Energy Shield will firmly block in his front. After all, there’s a Spiritual Link between the Energy Shield and Su Xiao.

Even if the enemy’s attack is enough to knock Su Xiao away, as long as the attack doesn’t shatter the Energy Shield, even if he’s pushed far back, the Energy Shield will still block in front of him.

After roughly grasping the role of the Energy Shield, Su Xiao was very satisfied.

Consuming 50 to 300 Mana Value generates an Energy Shield, and the generation speed is extremely fast, not affecting the line of sight, and with astounding defensive power.

However, there is also a problem, which is that Su Xiao doesn’t have enough Mana Value.

If constructing an Energy Shield with 300 Mana Value strength, Su Xiao can only construct four such Energy Shields, with the Mana Value consumption speed being extremely fast.

If that were all, it would be okay, but his use of Blue Steel Shadow Energy attacks also consumes a lot of Mana Value, with a consumption rate of 50 points per minute not to be ignored.

With this and that, Su Xiao feels that his Mana Value of 1488 points is somewhat insufficient. If the battle is intense, he will face a ’lack of blue’ situation.

Su Xiao finally understood why ’Soul Devourer’, this Mage Lord’s talent, inherited the Shadow of Annihilation Law. Because the Mana Value required by Shadow of Annihilation Law is more than that of a Mage, without this kind of Talent Ability, it’s impossible to use Blue Steel Shadow for continuous combat.

Su Xiao has a Talent Ability that allows him to permanently increase Mana Value after killing an enemy, and his Intelligence Attribute is very high. Even so, he still feels a shortage of Mana Value.

”I need to get some equipment to increase Mana Value when I go back this time.”

Su Xiao previously thought his Mana Value was sufficient, but now it seems not the case. If the combat is too intense, he could potentially deplete his Mana Value within ten minutes of battle starting.

Consuming massive amounts of Mana Value is not without benefit; his combat strength has increased significantly, much more than before.

Not to mention the skyrocketing True Damage, the Energy Shield alone compensates for his insufficient defense, unmatched by any ability.

The ’Eggshell Shield’ that covers the entire body, used by a Mage, doesn’t suit Su Xiao. That thing is cumbersome, not as convenient as the Energy Shield that can be generated and retracted at any time.

The Energy Shield might not be limited to defense; other uses are pending his exploration.

Su Xiao looked at the last ’Form Three: Green Shadow King (Unawakened)’, and he was utterly clueless about this. Ignoring the awakening method, he didn’t even know what this thing was.

”Can’t you just let me awaken directly.”

Su Xiao temporarily ignored this ability, even if he wanted to, there was no way to, because before the complete awakening of Shadow of Annihilation Law, Green Shadow King wouldn’t awaken. As for how to awaken the Shadow of Annihilation Law, that’s not something Su Xiao can involve in now. It must be after the fifth tier before it can be done. Simply put, Green Shadow King is the big move of Shadow of Annihilation Law, a really strong big move.

Currently, all Su Xiao has is the ordinary Skills of Shadow of Annihilation Law. Although they are all potent, not one is a significantly powerful finishing move, and Green Shadow King serves as Shadow of Annihilation Law’s finishing move.
