Chapter 584: Chapter 72: Meeting and Potent Medicine

”This is Nagato, the controller of Heavenly Dao.”

Konan briefly introduced Nagato to Su Xiao, omitting some confidential information.

”Oh? Is this the true leader?”

”In a sense, yes. The specifics can be discussed later. Do you have a way to save Nagato?”

Just as Konan was speaking, Nagato slowly awoke, pausing upon seeing Su Xiao in the room, then contemplating something.

”Bai Ye, you’ve come. Are you disappointed to see me so pitifully?”

Nagato let out a long sigh.

”Quite the opposite. I don’t need to know your secrets. You just need to promise me one thing, and I will do my utmost to heal your injuries afterward.”

”What is it?”

”Destroy Konoha.”

Nagato seemed taken aback but then smiled faintly.

”If I weren’t injured, I would have gone to Konoha immediately after Itachi Uchiha’s death to capture the Nine-tails, and in the process, destroy that seemingly peaceful village, which builds its happiness on others’ suffering. Let them experience the pain, the loss of loved ones, and the agony of being displaced.”

”Then I absolutely cannot let you die. Leader, are you called Nagato?”

”Cough, cough, cough.”

Nagato suddenly began coughing, appearing ready to faint again.

Su Xiao quickly approached, checking Nagato’s aura, which was very feeble, like that of a dying old man.

”Let him lie flat.”

Su Xiao attempted to release Nagato from the control platform, but he was firmly anchored there.

Konan stepped forward and skillfully freed Nagato from the platform.

”Nagato should not lie flat...”

At Nagato’s back, dozens of black metal thorns were embedded, a latent risk from forbidden techniques used in his youth.

”Is there a surgery room here?”

”There is, but...”

Konan was somewhat worried; it was obvious that saving Nagato would require extreme measures.

”Take him to the surgery room, now.”

Su Xiao’s tone was firm. He wasn’t sure if he could save Nagato, but he had to try; the penalty of an all-attributes reduction of -8 for mission failure was too severe.

Konan helped Nagato into the Hidden Rain Village’s best surgical room, while Su Xiao wrote down a list of materials on paper.

”Find materials of these properties, you must.”

”It will be difficult...”

”You must find them within ten hours, or I can’t save Nagato’s life.”

”Understood.”

Konan hurried away, while Su Xiao reluctantly took out a potion - the No.1 Elixir.

After diluting the No.1 Elixir into a large glass bottle, Su Xiao prepared an IV line for Nagato.

The No.1 Elixir slowly merged into Nagato’s bloodstream, his pale face gaining some color before he awoke a moment later.

”It looks like you saved me this time.”

Nagato had hovered on the brink of suffocation.

”Whether I can truly save you is uncertain, but I’ll try my best. Don’t forget about Konoha.”

”As long as I live, I will go to Konoha, for those who’ve passed away. It is imperative.”

Su Xiao tapped on the metal rods behind Nagato.

”Can these be removed?”

”Impossible. These are signal receivers, tied to my ability.”

”Do all these rods have to stay?”

”No, three would suffice, but they’re stuck in my organs and spine, and can’t be removed.”

”So only the quantity of three is necessary? They can be anywhere on your body? These rods seriously interfere with surgery.”

”Indeed, but removing them abruptly would result in my death.”

”Understood. If Konan finds those materials, I have a thirty percent chance of saving you.”

Nagato stopped talking, closing his eyes to sleep. He hadn’t rested in days, and unlike fainting, sleeping carried the risk of death for him if he relaxed too much.

As Nagato slept, Su Xiao examined the decayed area on his chest, noticing something moving inside.

”Parasites? No, more like a specially bred insect designed to destroy human body functions.”

Su Xiao speculated that a Contractor was responsible, since Jiraiya lacked such a vicious capability.

Konan didn’t keep Su Xiao waiting for ten hours; she returned after four, blood-stained and with a bandaged white neck.

”Will these materials do?”

Konan was extremely weak, blood seeping through the neck bandage as she spoke.

Su Xiao analyzed the material characteristics, nodding after a while.

”Yes.”

He took the materials and entered the surgery room, while Konan exhaled a sigh of relief.

”If you can still manage, be my assistant.”

”Alright.”

Konan also entered the surgery room, leaving some paper pieces at the door for vigilance.

Inside the surgery room.

Su Xiao retrieved various items from storage space, arranging numerous test tubes, beakers, and the like on a wooden table.

He crushed and processed the plants and materials Konan had brought, and an hour later, dozens of solutions lined up before him.

Mixing the various materials, Su Xiao also purified Shinfuru’s blood, hesitating briefly before adding a diluted Hashirama Cells solution.

Pouring the solutions into a thick test tube, Su Xiao held it with one hand as mana drained rapidly, stabilizing the solution’s changes.

Gulu-gulu~

Bubbles streamed out from the test tube. Feeling insufficient, Su Xiao added a single drop of original Hashirama Cell.

”Nagato belongs to the Uzumaki Clan and has the Rinnegan, possibly able to withstand this. Let’s hope.”

Su Xiao concocted the strongest healing potion he had ever seen, though its danger was immense.

...

Su Xiao held the thick test tube, containing about 700 ml of potion—a considerable amount. If not for Nagato’s Uzumaki bloodline and Rinnegan, injecting this would kill him within ten seconds.

”Put it into the IV bottle.”

Su Xiao handed the test tube to Konan, who didn’t know what it was but complied.

Taking a syringe, Su Xiao flicked it to release the air bubbles upward then expelled them from the syringe.

He administrated it to Nagato’s spinal cord, causing him to wince.

After a long while, Su Xiao patted Nagato’s arm.

”Any feeling?”

”Yes.”

Su Xiao made a shallow cut on Nagato’s arm with a scalpel.

”What sensation?”

”Something pricked me. Did you inject me with anesthesia?”

”Of course, although the dosage isn’t enough yet.”

Su Xiao continued injecting anesthesia into Nagato, whose eyes began to droop, as if to fall back into sleep.

Konan filled the IV bottle with that potent potion and prepared an infusion set, which Su Xiao connected to Nagato’s vein, securing it with tape. As the drug entered Nagato, the cut on his arm healed instantly.

”Then, let’s begin. Nagato has fallen asleep, so he won’t mind if I’m a bit rough.”

Su Xiao donned disposable latex gloves, flexing his fingers with a smile.

Grabbing one of the metal rods from Nagato’s back, he pulled it out directly—simple and crude.

With a splat, blood spurted, splashing onto Konan’s face.

Konan’s mouth opened and shut, but she could only watch.

Konan’s bust wasn’t small; conservatively, a D, though she was hardly a woman of brawn without brain. She knew Nagato didn’t have long to live; it was better to gamble than to wait for death.
