Chapter 583: Chapter 71: Nagato is Really in Trouble!

Hidden Rain Village.

The constant patter of rain falls down, with occasional pedestrians crossing the streets of the Hidden Rain Village, creating a desolate scene for the entire ninja village.

In the upper floor of a tall metal building at the center, in a slightly dark room.

”Cough, cough, cough.”

The sound of a severe dry cough came from the darkness, waking up a blue-haired beauty who had been sleeping against the cold metal wall, her face full of fatigue.

”Nagato, are you alright?”

”Cough, cough, cough...”

Nagato stood at the makeshift control panel for Pain, racked with coughing, unable to speak.

”Nagato, don’t control the Heavenly Dao for now, your body...”

”It’s fine...”

Blood dripped from the corner of Nagato’s mouth, and there was a terrifying wound on his chest, circular in shape, about twenty centimeters wide. The surface flesh had already decayed, and something seemed to be writhing inside.

This was left by a Fourth-tier Contractor before his death, nearly costing Nagato his life.

Even though Nagato wasn’t dead now, his health was deteriorating by the day; his once dark red hair had started turning white, and he could only control three of the six Pains at a time.

”Is it really... alright?”

Konan’s eyes were full of concern. She had sought out many medical ninjas, but unfortunately, they were all helpless. Only one person could save Nagato, and that was the Fifth Hokage Tsunade.

However, even if Tsunade was willing to save him, whether Nagato would accept it was still a question.

”Konan, how are things with the organization lately?”

The Heavenly Dao controlled by Nagato had not appeared, because Nagato was experiencing intermittent comas. If the Heavenly Dao suddenly collapsed in front of the Akatsuki Organization members, that would be problematic, as the Akatsuki Organization valued strength above all.

”It’s alright.”

Konan sighed and was about to say something when Nagato squinted his eyes.

”There are members entering the Hidden Rain Village, it’s, Bai Ye.”

”Bai Ye?”

Konan frowned; she didn’t have a particularly good impression of Su Xiao.

The image of Su Xiao in Konan’s mind was unclear in terms of morality, full of blood energy, and prone to killing at the slightest provocation.

”What is he doing back here? Could he want to join the plan to capture the Eight Tails? His target is indeed the Tailed Beasts, and the Tailed Beasts he has captured are all abnormal.”

”The matter of the Eight Tails has already been entrusted to Uchiha Madara, we don’t need to intervene.”

”Nagato, this...”;

”No need to say more, go meet Bai Ye. Although his target is the Tailed Beasts, he is trustworthy, at least much more so than Itachi and Deidara.”

”Alright.”

Konan walked to the room.

...

Su Xiao was walking on the streets of the Hidden Mist Village, wearing a raincoat. After searching for a while, he entered a restaurant.

This is the largest restaurant in the Hidden Rain Village. Although the Hidden Rain Village is isolated from the world, tens of thousands of people live here. With the financial support of the Akatsuki Organization, the Hidden Rain Village is not poor; at least everyone can meet their basic needs without worrying about war.

The Hidden Rain Village is actually a paradise in the Naruto World, where people don’t worry about hunger or war. They have ’gods’ for protection. Although they cannot leave freely, no one wants to leave.

Neither poor nor wealthy, it seems heavily guarded but is very peaceful. Even compared to the residents of the Country of Fire, the happiness level here is high, except for the constant rain making everything wet; everything else is fine.

Su Xiao sat inside the restaurant. The residents of the Land of Rain, regardless of age or gender, have a habit of drinking or eating spicy food. With the constant rain, the humidity is too much. Without appropriately drinking or eating spicy food, rheumatism is unavoidable.

Su Xiao was breathing heavily; the food was incredibly spicy, but it tasted excellent.

Bubu Wang beside him was rolling its eyes from the spiciness but couldn’t resist the deliciousness. With tears streaming down, it ate three big bowls.

The door of the restaurant was pushed open, and Konan walked straight to Su Xiao, sitting across from him.

Konan’s clothes were soaked from the rain, droplets running down her blue hair.

Su Xiao only glanced at Konan before continuing to enjoy the delicious food. Although it was making him sizzle from the spice, the taste was irresistible, and the spicy fish of the Land of Rain was famous, even more so than Ichiraku Ramen.

”Do you have important business this time?”

Konan spoke, but Su Xiao kept eating, which made Konan frown.

Su Xiao once thought Konan was ’support,’ until she nearly blew up Obito, and everyone learned that this mature woman was not just ’support.’

”The Leader is injured?”

Su Xiao’s words made Konan tense up inside.

”Minor injury, already recovered.”

”Suddenly collapsing on the ground, unconscious is considered a minor injury?”

Su Xiao picked up the ice water beside him and took a big gulp. Bubu Wang leaned over, indicating to leave some for him.

Konan looked at the ice in the cup suspiciously. How could there be ice in the Hidden Rain Village?

”The Leader... is injured. Is this why you’ve returned?” Konan asked after weighing it in her mind. From Su Xiao’s various behaviors, although he has thoughts about the Tailed Beasts, he is still somewhat trustworthy.

Su Xiao has offended too many forces, which is why he played tricks with the Tailed Beasts, yet Nagato hasn’t turned against him. Such ’loyal’ subordinates are hard to find.

Compared to Itachi, Deidara, and others, Nagato trusts Su Xiao more. Su Xiao never hesitated during missions; his target was always the one he killed.

”Have medical ninjas checked it?”

”Yes, the situation isn’t great, but it’s not too bad either.”

Konan sighed, thought for a moment, and took out a sealed glass tube containing a small yellow insect.

”Have you seen this kind of insect?”

Su Xiao put down his chopsticks, wiped his hands, and took the glass tube.

”This should be a type of parasitic organism’s egg, not an insect. Without a host, this thing has a very short life span. Initially judging, this parasitic organism is female and not hermaphroditic; if it were, the Leader would have been parasitized to death by it, so this egg won’t hatch, it will only absorb the host’s vitality, and after 1 to 2 weeks, the egg will die on its own.”

Alchemical Potion Study involves a lot of biology, and with Level 20 Alchemical Potion Study, Su Xiao can determine most creatures’ characteristics. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ

”This...”

Konan’s heart began to race, the characteristics Su Xiao described were identical to this ’insect.’

”Do you... have a way to remove it?”

It seemed like Konan made up her mind. She had no choice; given Nagato’s current state, he could only hold on for at most half a month.

”Not sure, it depends on the Leader’s physique. If it’s not strong enough, he’s doomed. If I had been notified the moment he was parasitized, extracting the mother organism wouldn’t be too difficult.”

Putting down the glass tube, Su Xiao felt uneasy. Nagato must not die; otherwise, the main line mission might face the possibility of failure. Counting on Obito and others to attack Konoha was not reliable at all, especially since the main line mission marked heading to Konoha with Nagato. Nagato’s death might even cause the mission to fail directly.

”Come with me.”

Konan got up, and Su Xiao said nothing, just following her.

Five minutes later, Konan stood in front of the room where Nagato was. The Heavenly Dao stood still at the door, and Nagato had fallen into a coma again.

”The leader is like this?”

Su Xiao sized up the Heavenly Dao, appropriately feigning ignorance was necessary.

”Come in, and don’t speak of anything you see after this to anyone; this is the trust Nagato and I place in you, though it’s out of necessity.”

Konan didn’t say any flowery words, just opened the door.

A faint stench wafted out, and Su Xiao immediately saw the unconscious Nagato inside the room.

Nagato stood on the equipment for controlling Pain, the wound on his chest severely rotting, with the faint movement of some organism inside.
