Chapter 565: Chapter 53: Fading

Obito stood not far from Su Xiao, grinning, although to be precise, it wasn’t really Obito speaking at that moment.

In his youth, the right side of Obito’s body was crushed by a boulder. To facilitate daily actions, a vortex-shaped hollow shell of Bai Jue enveloped Obito’s body surface, and it was this Bai Jue speaking, not Obito. The voice wasn’t Obito’s.

This identity, Ah Fei, was the vortex-shaped Bai Jue. Obito would usually not speak, only occasionally using spatial abilities to conceal his identity.

”How about this...”

Vortex Bai Jue clearly didn’t know how to continue negotiating. These words were previously instructed by Obito, but now without obtaining the Sharingan, Bai Jue was in a dilemma.

”Otherwise, let’s just...”

”Shut up.”

A slightly hoarse voice came through; it was Obito himself speaking.

”Huh?”

Bai Jue was astonished, not expecting Obito to speak up.

The vortex-shaped Bai Jue didn’t understand the significance of the Sharingan to Obito. With that Sharingan, Obito could use pupil skills like Susanoo.

Of course, the Mangekyo Sharingan’s pupil skills put a heavy burden on the body, but Obito was different. To help him recover his crushed body, Madara injected Hashirama cells into him, restoring his body. Obito’s life energy was extremely strong, greatly reducing the damage the pupil skills inflicted on his body.

If Obito wanted to take Kakashi’s Sharingan, he would have done so long ago. The reason he hadn’t was because that eye had been transplanted to Kakashi by Nohara Rin, signifying her existence in a way.

Besides, Obito had already transplanted another Sharingan, which could be used to perform a nearly invincible technique like Izanagi at a critical moment, thus preserving life.

”Hand over that eye.”

Obito’s voice was deep.

”What are you prepared to give up?”

Su Xiao held the hilt of Dragon Slash.

”Nothing.”

Vortex-shaped distortions appeared in the space around Obito, and in an instant, he vanished.

A sense of crisis came from behind. Su Xiao didn’t need to look to know that Obito was behind him.

As Dragon Slayer Slash was unsheathed, it spun in his hand, and the long knife stabbed backward just under Su Xiao’s arm, aiming at Obito.

The long knife thrust forward, but there was no sensation of hitting a solid body. Obito had already ’faded’, passing directly through Su Xiao’s body to stand before him.

Tzch—

Boundary Line contracted, floating near Obito, forcing him to maintain his fading state.

Su Xiao looked coldly at Obito, Dragon Slayer Slash dancing a flash of blade florescence.

”Spatial series.”

Obito materialized not far from Su Xiao.

”Oh? It seems you know my abilities quite well.”

Red light flickered in the eye hole of Obito’s mask.

”No, I’ve dealt with more troublesome spatial series before.”

Su Xiao recalled a member of the Void Race who could teleport. That guy’s abilities were far more troublesome than Obito’s, with an attack that carried spatial cutting ability, making it utterly indefensible—a punch would make a hole.

”Then, how will you defend against this move.”

”Wood Jutsu: World of Trees!”

Kaka kaka.

Trees crazily grew inside the inn room, but stopped after growing one to two meters high.

”What’s the matter.”

Obito was asking Bai Jue, as Wood Jutsu was Bai Jue’s ability, and coupled with the First Generation cells in Obito’s body, he could use Wood Jutsu.

From the current scale of the Wood Jutsu, those over one-meter-tall small trees were embarrassing him.

”Huh, I don’t know either, hahaha, perhaps it’s a chakra repulsion issue. Although our chakra nature is similar, there’s also a slight repulsion phenomenon.”

”So, you’re saying I can’t use Wood Jutsu?”

”Simple Wood Jutsu, yes, like Thorn Insertion Technique, but forget about Tree Realm Descent.”

Bai Jue’s response left Obito somewhat dissatisfied. He was able to use it before, but not now, which clearly was not convincing.

Obito narrowed his eyes and planned to peel off the Bai Jue that covered his body soon, since his right side had already recovered.

Su Xiao held Dragon Slash horizontally in front, frowning as he looked at those few small trees. Was Obito here to clown around? When he shouted Tree Realm Descent, he genuinely startled him.

”Ring Break.”

Clang!

A circular blade aura expanded around Su Xiao, instantly reaching Obito’s neck, who immediately faded.

While Obito dodged this attack, the surrounding block’s buildings suffered.

Ring Break slashed outward, slicing through some taller buildings halfway up. Screams rang continuously.

Swish—

Obito vanished from his original position, reappearing behind Su Xiao.

Spatial vortex appeared, intending to pull Su Xiao into an anomalous space.

An energy shield appeared, allowing Su Xiao to push off with one foot and leap backward. As the distance exceeded a meter, the energy shield quickly dissipated.

Just as Su Xiao leapt away, Obito appeared before him again, reaching for Su Xiao’s face.

Su Xiao thrust with his knife forward, and Obito immediately faded, the hand passing through Su Xiao’s head effortlessly.

Dragon Slash ’pierced’ into Obito’s throat, with Obito’s hand passing through Su Xiao’s head. Neither moved.

”It’s over.”

Obito quickly sidestepped, the fading hand leaving Su Xiao’s head, reaching for Su Xiao’s throat. At that moment, Obito was materialized.

Being touched by Obito was unacceptable; otherwise, one would be dragged into an anomalous space and face certain death, as being trapped there would be enough to kill Su Xiao.

Just as Obito’s hand reached for Su Xiao’s throat, an energy shield appeared in front of Su Xiao.

Obito’s hand passed through the energy shield, coming within five centimeters of Su Xiao’s neck.

As Obito prepared to activate the space-time power, he halted after fading once more, as energy thorns generated from Dragon Slash had just pierced through his body. If Obito regained solidity now, he would be gravely injured if not dead.

After a brief standoff between Su Xiao and Obito, Obito vanished from his original position reappearing some distance away.

”As expected of someone who can suppress a Jinchuriki in close combat, engaging you in melee is not wise.”

Obito scrutinized Su Xiao, pondering something.

”I investigated you, but found nothing. You seemed to appear out of thin air.”

While Obito spoke, the rooftop of the building they were in began to tilt, gradually collapsing downward.

Crash!

The top half of the inn crashed onto the street, leaving Su Xiao’s room exposed to the sky.

Not just here, but the surrounding two buildings faced a similar fate, with all three buildings’ cut heights aligned, the severed ends smooth like mirrors.

”Investigated me? What’s the point of that? Understand that I’m not a spy from another Ninja Village, and that’s enough.”

Apart from Iwagakure and Cloud Village, Su Xiao had offended the other three major Ninja Villages, and soon, he planned to offend one more.

”You two up there, come down and surrender, or face dire consequences.”

Samurai from the Fire Country’s Daimyo Mansion had arrived. The Daimyo’s force was composed of Samurai, with ninjutsu in the minority since training ninjas was too costly and the techniques were monopolized by each Ninja Village.

Su Xiao ignored the Samurai below and looked at Obito.

”It seems you’re interested in the Sharingan? Ah Fei.”
