Chapter 572: Chapter 60: Why Don’t You Go to Heaven?

”Continue to guard Orochimaru’s base. Later, someone will come looking for you. Go with him and tell him...”

”Uh... wait a moment.” Shinfuru gathered her courage to speak.

”Am I your spy now? You must have some way to control me, right?”

After saying this, Shinfuru intently observed Su Xiao’s facial expression.

Su Xiao looked Shinfuru up and down. He suspected this woman had a persecution complex. Besides shooting her once, he hadn’t really harmed her. Was he really that terrifying?

Although Su Xiao thought this way, the reality was that, in Shinfuru’s mind, he was the Big Demon King.

”A spy? Not at all. Don’t interrupt me when I’m speaking.”

”Mm, mm.”

Shinfuru nodded quickly, like a small chicken pecking at rice.

”As I was saying, continue to guard Orochimaru’s base. If someone comes to find you, go with him. Whether or not you become his subordinate is up to you, but you only need to tell him one thing.”

”What should I say?”

”If he wants revenge on Itachi, he can find me at God Bridge Mountain in the Country of Fire.”

Shinfuru sorted her thoughts and finally nodded.

”You have enough food for five days. As for fresh water, eat snow the first few days, and find a way once you leave Iron Country. If there’s no river, drink dew.”

”Dew...”

Shinfuru really wanted to complain. She’s not a grasshopper, so why should she drink dew?

”Understand?”

”Completely. Not a word missed. I’ll head back to Orochimaru’s base now, wait for someone to find me, and tell him if he wants revenge on Itachi, he can find you at God Bridge Mountain.”

”Your understanding is decent. If you pull this off, I won’t kill you the next time we meet.”

Shinfuru calmed her emotions. Although her mind was full of doubts, she knew she wasn’t in immediate danger.

”You’re still here? Or are you wanting me to ’escort you’?”

”Goodbye!”

Shinfuru lifted her leg and ran, faster than a rabbit. Even Bubu Wang glanced sideways at her speed.

”Isn’t this too troublesome? Wouldn’t it be easier to have your brother come find you directly?”

Su Xiao looked at a crow not far away, which was watching Shinfuru run away.

”Forget it. As a teammate, helping you with this small matter is no problem. Just don’t forget to pay me after you snatch your brother Sasuke’s eyes.”

Su Xiao was riding on Bubu Wang’s back as it ran out of the snowy plains. Moments later, Itachi appeared.

The previous Amaterasu had been triggered because Itachi had already realized Obito’s identity. Although he wasn’t sure of the exact identity, he knew Obito was from the Uchiha Clan.

”This should do. From here, it’s up to you, Sasuke.”

A gentle smile appeared on Itachi’s face. He had waited a long time for this opportunity, doing many things he did not wish to.

...

Three days later, in a mountain range.

This mountain range was located within the Country of Fire. Because a mountain peak’s shape at dawn resembled a seated giant, it was called God Mountain by the locals, who frequently worshiped there. Until after a rain, a rainbow appeared connecting the sky above the ’God Mountain,’ and it became known as God Bridge Mountain.

”996, 997, 998, 999... 1000!”

With a rumble, Su Xiao dropped a large stone he had been lifting over his head, drenched in sweat.

By the river, washing his body, Su Xiao had been waiting here for two days, and by conservative estimation, he expected to wait several more days.

With nothing to do, Su Xiao opened the skill list. He hadn’t yet checked the level-up for Blue Steel Shadow.

[Blue Steel Shadow: Lv.26 (Active Skill)]

Condition of Use: After activating (Blue Steel Shadow), the Hunter consumes 62 mana points per minute (an increase of 12 mana consumption). It turns off automatically once mana falls below 1%.

Skill Effect: Upon activation, every close-combat attack burns 130 mana points (an increase of 30 points) and deals true damage equivalent to the mana burned + 9% (an increase of 1%) of the enemy’s lost mana value. The enemy will endure intense pain from the mana burn.

Lv.20 Additional Ability

Controller: Allows Blue Steel Shadow energy to materialize in high intensity, into one of three forms.

Form One, Demon Hunting: The basic form of Blue Steel Shadow, which burns enemy mana and inflicts true damage.

Form Two, Proud Song: This is the defensive form, generating energy shields of any shape to defend against enemy attacks. The energy shield’s strength correlates with the mana spent, capped at 400 points per use (an increase of 100 points).

Form Three, Green Shadow King (not awakened)

...

The upgrades to Blue Steel Shadow are quite substantial, both with the increased mana burn and the 9% true damage based on the enemy’s lost mana.

While the boosts to these aspects are significant, the greatest increase is in the energy shield of the ’Proud Song’ ability.

Su Xiao is unclear about the concept of a 400-point mana value energy shield, but being idle, he decided to experiment a bit.

Extending his palm, a two-meter wide, three-meter tall energy shield appeared.

This energy shield is light blue, its edges slightly deeper in color, with what seems like an energy line running along the edge. The entire shield was crystal clear, more like it’s carved from light blue crystal rather than energy.

Su Xiao raised his hand and tapped the energy shield, producing a crisp sound.

With his left hand in a fist, wrapped in a scarlet metal armguard, he punched the energy shield.

Bam!

A surge of air blasted outward. Su Xiao grimaced, maintaining the punching pose, unmoved. His hand hurt, even though his fingers were encased in metal.

Nearby, Bubu Wang was startled awake from an early nap, kicking its back legs.

With a look of grievance, Bubu Wang sighed, placing its head back on its fluffy paws to continue sleeping.

When Su Xiao found his fists couldn’t break the shield, he drew the Dragon Slash from his waist.

A clanging noise ensued as Su Xiao swung with all his might for ten minutes, breathing heavily afterward, hands on his knees, with the Dragon Slash stuck by his feet.

Looking up, the energy shield before him was still pristine, only slightly weakened from the ten minutes’ elapsed time. This thing could be sturdy enough to make enemies question their life choices.

Su Xiao withdrew the energy shield. He kept thinking about how to develop the energy shield but was currently at a standstill.

His original idea was to use the energy shield for a double jump, or even multiple jumps, to achieve something akin to flight.

This idea died before even starting; the reason being the energy shield was centered on him. Hence, using the shield to jump was as absurd as trying to hop into the sky by stepping on one’s own foot. Su Xiao and the shield shared the same gravity.

As for other development methods, while there were some ideas, they required extensive experimentation.

His energy shield needed to be developed in both defensive and functional aspects. For offense, the blade in his hand sufficed.

After pondering the energy shield for a while, Su Xiao began practicing sword techniques again. Even though his sword skills had reached the current level, improvement through practice was quite difficult, yet he never stopped training on his own.

He worked until tired, slept, woke up, and practiced sword technique again. Thus, five days passed in a flash.

Although time in the Derivative World was precious, he couldn’t leave just yet.

Until the sixth morning, the Air Guard detected humans approaching.
