Chapter 1289: Chapter 1288: The Swarm Descends

Los Angeles.

For this once-thriving city, it has now become the last refugee camp.

The mechanical army’s relentless pressure has left them with nowhere to retreat. Some have tried to escape by air or sea, but the Decepticons are no fools; they’ve completely cut off all of North America’s traffic and communications, turning it into an isolated island.

Now, the only thing they can do is a desperate resistance.

”Team B, follow me! Cover the others as they retreat to safety!!”

Waving his hand forcefully, the young soldier ran with a gun through the ruins of buildings. Not far in front of them, dozens of Decepticons were recklessly pouring firepower onto the streets. The few remaining tanks had already been blasted into scrap metal, lying immobile in the middle of the road.

”Prepare grenades!! Take cover, fire!!”

With the command, the soldiers quickly launched an attack on the Decepticons. Surprised by the sudden assault, the Decepticons quickly used the surrounding buildings as cover and launched a counterattack on the soldiers.

However, this did nothing to change the situation.

”What do we have left?!”

In the makeshift command post, the President frowned, glaring at the map while looking at his Minister of Defense. But under the President’s gaze, the Minister of Defense could only shake his head.

”I’m sorry, Mr. President, we can’t answer that definitively right now. As you can see, those damned alien robots have almost cut off all our communications, but I believe some overseas troops remain... I suggest we relocate immediately...”

”Relocate? To where?”

The President interrupted the Minister of Defense impatiently.

”We have no way out now, so where can we go? Washington, New York, they’ve already fallen, and Los Angeles is not far from falling. This is our country, our land, where can we go if we leave here? To Hawaii? Or Okinawa? Can we really go to sea?”

Saying this, the President slammed the table with anger. The air is impossible; those alien robots have taken over the entire sky. The sea is the same; not long ago, they witnessed the destruction of the Seventh Fleet. Now, what do they have to fight these alien robots?

”Report!!”

At this moment, a soldier rushed in, breaking the tense situation.

”Mr. President, we have just detected a very large unknown object!”

”Is it those alien robots?”

Hearing this, the President also became tense, and the other shook his head.

”No, these... seem to be some kind of life form, they’re coming from outside the atmosphere, we detected life reactions! Calculating from the corner, they will land here!”

”What? A large number of life reactions from outside the atmosphere?”

Hearing this, the President was still in a daze, but the Minister of Defense seemed to understand something. It must be noted, those alien robots can’t detect life reactions. This has always been a troublesome issue for humans, often they have to rely on radiation and energy reactions for detection.

But life reactions are another matter!

Let alone, these life reactions come from outside the atmosphere... meaning they’re not human!

If they’re not human, then what are they?

”Mr. President! Mr. Minister!!”

Just then, someone rushed in urgently again.

”You should come out and see this!!”

The group hurried out of the command post to the square outside. They looked up at the sky, and the next moment, everyone widened their eyes in shock.

Amid the rolling clouds parting, an enormous creature appeared from within. It was far taller than those robots, and even those robots seemed as insignificant as mosquitoes in front of this gigantic creature.

What on earth is this? Is it the latest weapon of those alien robots?

As everyone was horrified by the scene before them, not knowing what to do, they suddenly noticed the situation seemed different from what they imagined.

With the appearance of this bizarre giant creature, those robots that had been rampaging in Los Angeles City immediately changed direction. The aerial robotic army instantly swooped toward the descending giant creature, launching an attack against it. A storm of gunfire erupted, bombarding the dreadful giant creature.

What is happening?

Seeing this, the humans on the ground were bewildered. They initially thought this terrifying creature was the leader of the alien robots or their ally. But it now seemed not to be the case. Could it be... this terrifying creature is also an enemy of these alien robots?

Soon, their assumption was confirmed. For as the gigantic creature was attacked, countless shadows descended from the sky, rushing toward the Decepticon legion in the sky. They had massive bodies, enormous wings, and long tails, and when they opened their mouths, they spewed hot and high-temperature flames!

”Is this... a dragon?”

Seeing this, the people on the ground were almost shocked out of their minds. For a moment, they even wondered if they were dreaming. Aliens, robots, and now even dragons have appeared?

At the same time, under the people’s gaze, the battle between the Swarm and the Decepticons began.

Flying Dragons flapped their wings, roaring as they rushed toward the Decepticons in jet form. Their speed was no less than those of the robots; both sides rushed at each other with a shriek, colliding heavily. The Flying Dragon’s claws firmly gripped the mechanical jet’s body, tearing at it with force. However, the Decepticon was not willing to be defeated and fired its machine gun directly at the Flying Dragon’s carapace, sweeping it mercilessly.

The Decepticons indeed had some skills; being a cosmic race, their combat power was naturally formidable. The Flying Dragon’s carapace could not withstand such attacks and was quickly torn open with severe wounds. However, the Flying Dragon was clearly not going to give up the attack because of this. It roared, opened its mouth, and shot a fireball directly at the Decepticon’s body. With the sound of blistering bursts, the jet-form Decepticon was instantly torn to pieces, and with a powerful swipe of its claws, the Flying Dragon tore it completely in half. It then tossed the Decepticon’s wreckage aside and began searching for the next target.

Meanwhile, spore-like objects began to fall rapidly from the massive horrific creature, crashing heavily onto the ground, creating huge holes in the once-flat concrete surface. Swarms of various kinds emerged from the holes, forming a tide of flesh and blood rushing toward the enemy ahead.

Flesh and steel.

All the essential elements of warfare commenced their battle against each other once again at this moment.
