Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1273: Chapter 1272: People Who Mess With Code Are the Worst

In the Game World, Fang Zheng had everything under control. However, in the world of the Magical Girl, Fang Zheng encountered some issues.

”Are these the Knights you detained?”

Looking at Hegnam, Vita, and the others on the screen, Fang Zheng curiously asked, and Nanoha nodded.

”Yes, teacher, I’ve already heard about them...”

Whether it was some kind of coincidence or not, in any case, after Nanoha blasted them away with a shot, these Knights obediently chose to cooperate. They confessed to Little Sakura and Nanoha about their origins and the reasons they attacked other Magitech Mages. These four Knights are part of a Guardian Knight system from a Magitech Device known as the ”Book of Darkness.” They could be considered similar to Heroic Spirits or Guardian Beasts.

Currently, the master of this ”Book of Darkness” is a little girl named Hayate Yagami. Due to her binding with the Book of Darkness, Hayate Yagami’s health is very poor, and her vitality is weak. To protect their master, these Guardian Knights attempted to attack other Magitech Mages, using the Book of Darkness to absorb their Magic Power to extend their master’s life.

To be honest, Nanoha and Little Sakura didn’t really know what to do about it. Although Nanoha and Fate considered contributing their Magic Power, Shisei stopped them. In Shisei’s view, although she wasn’t completely clear about what the Book of Darkness was, if their master was losing vitality because of the binding with the Book, then it would be better not to act hastily before understanding everything.

”Hmm... Shisei handled it well.”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng nodded in satisfaction. This was why he entrusted the matters of this world to Shisei. Although Shisei herself wasn’t a Mage and wasn’t very familiar with Magitech Devices, she could carefully make decisions, instead of acting impulsively like the other girls.

”Has Precia’s side reported any findings?”

”They won’t hand over the Book of Darkness to us.”

Little Sakura shook her head helplessly. It had been already several days since they defeated these mysterious attackers, and while the opponents hadn’t tried to escape, they refused to cooperate. Other than reluctantly explaining their reasons for attacking, they completely refused to cooperate with anything else.

”You’ve done well. Leave the rest to me.”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng quickly provided an answer.

At this moment, inside the bedroom, Vita was holding the Book of Darkness tightly, silently crouched in the corner.

Three days had already passed. By rights, they should have returned to their master, but now, they were confined here...

”Tap... tap...”

Just then, Vita’s ears twitched, sharply catching footsteps from outside the door.

The footsteps were exceptionally steady, unlike those of the little girls before. Could it be... the person behind them had finally appeared?

”Creak...”

As Vita thought this, the door opened, and she saw a young man standing at the door, looking at her.

”Who are you?!”

For some reason, the moment Vita saw this young man, she felt like her hair was standing on end, like she was being watched by some unknown terrifying beast. She instinctively jumped up, reaching out to grab her Magitech Device, but her hand came up empty. Only then did Vita remember that her Magitech Device had been confiscated.

”All of you, come to the hall.”

Fang Zheng glanced at Vita, then directly issued the command. Turning away, he left. Watching Fang Zheng’s retreating figure, Vita was momentarily stunned before hurrying out of the bedroom.

When the four Knights gathered in the hall again, Fang Zheng was already seated there, waiting for them.

”I’ve already heard about your situation from Little Sakura and Nanoha.”

Looking at the four Knights before him, Fang Zheng first spoke.

”But let me make it clear first, no matter what your grievances are, attacking other Magitech Mages and taking their Magic Power is absolutely unacceptable.”

”Then what do you want us to do!”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Vita clenched her fists and shouted angrily.

”Do you want us to just watch our master die?”

”Your master’s plight is sympathetic, but it doesn’t justify attacking others.”

”We just want to borrow some of their Magic Power, that’s all, sir.”

At this, Shamar also spoke up.

”It won’t harm them...”

However, faced with Shamar’s rebuttal, Fang Zheng shot her a look.

”If I stole your money and told you that you’ll earn more by working anyway, so it’s no big deal, would you accept it?”

”This...”

Hearing this, Shamar was left speechless.

”So, what do you want us to do?”

This time, Hegnam spoke up, staring at Fang Zheng seriously and asked.

”Before that, I need to introduce myself.”

While speaking, Fang Zheng stood up.

”My name is Fang Zheng, the supreme ruler of the Heavenly Dao Palace. The Heavenly Dao Palace’s purpose is to protect Earth and human civilization. For us, maintaining the safety and existence of Earth in any dimension is most important. This area falls outside the jurisdiction of the Space-Time Bureau, so you don’t need to worry about being taken back by them. Moreover, although your attacks are not commendable, considering you were defeated and blasted by Nanoha, I might be able to help you.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng reached out a hand to Vita.

”But before that, I need to conduct a comprehensive examination of this magitech device.”

”.......”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s words, the four knights exchanged glances, and finally, Hegnam looked at Fang Zheng again and asked.

”You may, but you must guarantee not to damage the Book of Darkness. Otherwise, even if we have to risk our lives, we won’t let you succeed!”

”You should know, you are currently just captives... Alright, for now, I’m just going to take a look.”

”...I understand. Vita, give him the Book of Darkness.”

”Got it.”

Upon hearing Hegnam’s order, Vita reluctantly walked up to Fang Zheng and handed over the Book of Darkness. Fang Zheng reached out to take the Book of Darkness and began to flip through it.

”It’s useless.”

Seeing this, Vita sneered.

”Unless you are the true recognized master of the Book of Darkness, you will never be able to obtain the system management access of the Book of Darkness...”

However, before Vita could finish her sentence, Fang Zheng extended a finger and gently tapped on the cover of the Book of Darkness.

”—————!!”

The next moment, countless magic circles formed by condensed purple light beams scattered and unfolded with the Book of Darkness at the center!

Upon witnessing this scene, the four Guardian Knights widened their eyes simultaneously. As the protective programs of the Book of Darkness, they understood what this meant!

The protection program of the Book of Darkness has been breached!?

”I see.....”

Looking at the displayed magic programs and the runes, Fang Zheng frowned slightly, then turned to Precia.

”Precia, what do you think?”

”Hmm... I think the problem is already quite obvious.”

While analyzing the rune structure before her, Precia nodded. Hearing their conversation, Nanoha couldn’t suppress her curiosity and asked.

”Teacher, is there a problem?”

”Of course.”

Hearing Nanoha’s question, Fang Zheng nodded, then he magnified a part of the Book of Darkness’s program and pointed at it.

”Originally, the Book of Darkness... oh, according to the program’s name it should be called the Book of Night Sky, was created to collect and study magic technologies from various worlds as an absorption program. You can think of it as a portable library to record various magical data and spells. However... due to a certain fool, the core program of this magitech device was damaged.”

”Damaged?”

Hearing this, Vita couldn’t restrain her curiosity and asked, to which Fang Zheng nodded.

”Yes, I don’t know which fool... look, alright, you don’t understand anyway, it’s fine, I’ll say it anyway. According to the program, the original Book of Night Sky relied entirely on manual absorption, which means the magitech mentor who possessed this magitech device had to actively drive the Book of Night Sky to absorb and record magic programs. Of course, originally this was supposed to be harmless...”

”But our master’s body clearly had issues!”

Hearing this, even Hegnam couldn’t hold back, but Fang Zheng waved his hand.

”Let me finish. I’m saying the original Book of Night Sky itself had no design problems. The issue arose later on... I don’t know how many owners this magitech device has gone through, but there was definitely an idiot who found it too troublesome to always manually absorb magic, so he rewrote the program of the Book of Night Sky... He added a self-search and self-maintaining system to it. Of course, judging from the current situation, this magitech mentor’s intention might have been to allow the Book of Night Sky to automatically perform some tasks that were previously done manually. However, there was a bug in his program compiling, causing the system operation of the Book of Night Sky to enter an infinite loop...”

At this point, Fang Zheng once again extended his hand to open the core system.

”This magitech mentor overlooked one issue, which is that if the Book of Night Sky needs to start running by itself, then it requires enough magic power to move on its own, and this idiot obviously didn’t solve this issue. As a result, the Book of Night Sky had to draw magic power from others to maintain command operation. I suppose the subsequent owners didn’t have a good time either... because even if they didn’t use the Book of Night Sky, the Book of Night Sky, in order to carry out self-search and collection commands, would draw their magic power and external magic power...”

”Then, as long as the Book of Night Sky completes its collection...”

”It’s useless.”

However, Fang Zheng once again interrupted Vita’s speech.

”I said before, this idiot didn’t consider the magic power absorption problem of the Book of Night Sky. As a result, the command loop of this program has fallen into an endless loop with no endpoint. Even if all the pages of the book are completely collected, it will still uncontrollably enter into continuous self-search and magic power absorption actions, and in the end... it might just end up in self-detonation.”

”What should we do!”

Hearing this, everyone’s expressions changed drastically, and Vita couldn’t help but exclaim.

”Is there no way for you to solve this problem?”

”Hmm......”

Hearing Vita’s inquiry, Fang Zheng pondered for a moment, then gave his answer.

”I need to see the condition of that master before making any plans.”
