Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1275: Chapter 1274: When in Doubt, Initialize

Indeed, what Fang Zheng was thinking of was precisely the current Clan Leader of the World Tree of a Thousand Realms in the Type Moon World—Fiore Forveig Yggdmirel. Just like Yagami Hayate, her condition of semi-paralysis forced her to rely on a wheelchair for mobility. However, unlike Yagami Hayate, whose condition resulted from the later draining of magic power by the Book of Night Sky, Fiore’s condition was innate.

Her magic circuits were largely concentrated in her legs, resulting in suppression of normal physiological functions there. Of course, in essence, the situation for both of them is not much different.

However, the current examination of Yagami Hayate gave Fang Zheng a very good idea for how to treat Fiore’s legs.

But for now... let’s focus on Yagami Hayate first.

”Hmm... Based on what we have now, the problem can be pinpointed. Next is how to treat it...”

”Teacher, didn’t you say there’s a problem with the magitech device’s internals? Can it be repaired?”

Upon hearing this, Shisei curiously opened her mouth to ask, but Fang Zheng shook his head.

”Impossible. The internal errors of the Book of Night Sky have accumulated too extensively, exceeding the limits of repair. Moreover, the messy code doesn’t even have comments... If I find out who wrote this, I’ll definitely fire them!”

”So there’s really no solution?”

Nanoha couldn’t help but feel worried. In response, Fang Zheng shrugged his shoulders.

”If a solution exists... Of course, the best way is to initialize and reinstall the system.”

Indeed, the saying holds, ”If unsure, initialize.” If your operating system encounters errors or bugs, one common answer you’ll find online is... ”Initialize and reinstall the system.”

From a certain perspective, indeed this is the best method to solve all problems.

However, the Book of Night Sky itself does not have a one-click restore system. Yet, who is Fang Zheng? He is the Time Dragon! Manipulating time is Fang Zheng’s forte. As long as Fang Zheng reverts the Book of Night Sky’s time to before its core program was modified or directly to when it was first created, he can naturally solve this problem completely.

Yet, another issue arises.

”Then... what will happen to Vita?”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Hayate nervously grasped Vita’s hand and then asked, while Fang Zheng thought for a moment.

”These Guardian Knights are derived from the Book of Night Sky’s self-protection program. Logically speaking, they would not undergo any change. However... their memories might be reset.”

”Huh?”

Upon hearing this, the expressions on Hayate and the others immediately stiffened, and she instinctively clutched Vita’s hand, looking anxiously at Fang Zheng.

”So... Vita, Hegnam, Shamar, and Zafira... they might forget the days we spent together?”

”Yes, theoretically that’s true.”

This time, Fang Zheng answered without the slightest hesitation.

”This...””

”No, Hayate, you don’t need to say more.”

Just as Hayate wanted to speak further, Hegnam first stood up, stopping her from continuing. Then, Hegnam glanced at Vita, Shamar, and Zafira. They seemed to understand Hegnam’s intention and nodded in unison.

Hegnam then turned back to Hayate.

”Lord Hayate, we are the guardians of the Book of Night Sky. We have witnessed the destruction of holder after holder, yet we were powerless. Now, it’s a chance to correct our mistakes. This book shall no longer be seen as a nightmare and a curse, and our master shall escape the tragic fate. For that, even sacrificing our lives is worth it.”

”But... you will forget me, we won’t be friends anymore... I don’t want that...”

”Teacher, is there really no other way?”

Watching both sides in this scene of painful separation, Little Sakura couldn’t help but hold Fang Zheng’s clothes, gently shaking and asking. It wasn’t just her; even Nanoha and Fate looked at Fang Zheng with pleading eyes.

”Yes, teacher, their bond is so strong, to just forget would be too cruel...”

”I can try, but no guarantees of success.”

Of course, Fang Zheng wasn’t entirely devoid of solutions; he could separate the ”Guardian System” module from the Book of Night Sky, revert the remaining parts using time retrospection to the initial stage, and then reconnect this module back.

Yet, as Fang Zheng mentioned, there’s no certainty of success, and it depends on whether these errors have affected the Guardian System of the Book of Night Sky. It’s like cancer; if it’s an unaffected part, it can naturally be retained, but if the affected part, it can only be removed.

”Are you ready?”

Fang Zheng took a deep breath, ensured clarity in his mind, and then looked at Hegnam and the others, who exchanged glances, and nodding in agreement.

”Of course, we are ready.”

”Hegnam...”

Watching Hegnam and the others, Hayate, teary-eyed and with a separation-like demeanor... Heh, indeed this appearance isn’t quite decent; it feels like one has become the executioner.

”Well then, let’s begin.”

Concentrating deeply, Fang Zheng waved his hand, and soon, with his movement, Hegnam, Vita, and the others transformed into light orbs, returning to the Book of Night Sky. Then one by one, magic circles unfolded, and Fang Zheng began to search and analyze the system modules of the entire Book of Night Sky.

”Here’s the core, this one collects, here’s... heck, which fool wrote this damnable program? Can you even code? If you can’t, stop scribbling nonsense!”

While searching the program, Fang Zheng cursed aloud; he now felt like he was examining the bug of a program group... No, it was akin to an amateur programmer recklessly altering a game engine, pretentiously assuming greatness, yet being clueless!

”If this guy were before me, I’d definitely slash him with a sword.”

Fang Zheng grumbled angrily and then waved his hand, subsequently severing some of the program parts.

”Alright, let’s start.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng reached out his hand, placing it on the core program of the Book of Night Sky.

Next moment, the Power of Time began its operation.

Runes and programs were separated and dissolved, gradually reverting to their original appearance. The entire Book of Night Sky’s program also began restoring at this moment.

This is quite simple.

Watching this scene, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but lament inwardly. He recalled in the anime, in the final confrontation with the Book of Night Sky, there seemed to be no effective strategy, necessitating the combined efforts of Nanoha, Fate, and Hayate to break the collapsing core, and then teleporting it to outer orbit to be annihilated by the Rainbow Cannon.

Yet here, merely using the Power of Time for reversal was sufficient.

Indeed, power is the real assurance for a HAPPY END.

While Fang Zheng mused distractedly, the core of the Book of Night Sky was already successfully retrospected to its original state. Then Fang Zheng clasped his hands together, and with his movement, the previously scattered system modules of the Book of Night Sky reassembled, while Fang Zheng continued to observe the previously separated Guardian System until the module successfully fused into one, sighing in some relief.

Then, Fang Zheng released his hands, giving a slight wave, as the Book of Night Sky flew in front of Hayate.

”Grab it, activate it, become its master.”

Locking eyes with Hayate, Fang Zheng spoke.

”Can it be completed... depends on you now.”

”...Alright, I understand.”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Hayate nodded vigorously, fixating on the Book of Night Sky before her. After a moment, she extended her hand, placing it on this book.

Subsequently, radiant magic luminescence abruptly erupted.
