Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1259: Chapter 1258: Deity of the Naga Tribe

Among the dark elves, there is a very strict hierarchy system, and if you must speak of it, it is actually quite simple.

Dark elves rank higher than non-dark elves, female dark elves rank higher than male dark elves, and priests among the dark elves hold the pinnacle position at the top of the pyramid.

This hierarchy is also clearly reflected in battle.

Slaves composed of simple-minded, physically strong trolls and orcs shouted as they brandished their weapons, charging at the forefront. Their appearance quickly caught the attention of the Nagas. Soon, the Nagas standing on the ruins of the city began to shout loudly and then raised their long spears, throwing them at the slave soldiers before them.

The Naga tribe lives in the water and hasn’t had much contact with other civilized races. After all, humans, dwarves, and elves don’t live in the deep sea. Therefore, people don’t know much about this race. Even in the White Tower, there are only sparse records about the Nagas, mainly noting that they occasionally attack passing merchant and fishing boats in the sea, possess tremendous strength, and are adept at manipulating water currents, making them quite troublesome enemies in the sea.

However, on land, these Nagas are equally fierce.

The spears they throw easily penetrate the robust trolls through and through, but for the simple-minded, physically strong trolls, such injuries do not make them retreat. Instead, they become even more furious from their instincts, recklessly charging at the Naga Guardians once again.

The Naga Guardians are certainly brave, as they swing their long spears, quickly engaging in battle with the group of slaves. Behind them, the female Nagas also waved their arms, casting their unique spells to assist the front-line guards. Meanwhile, ear-piercing screams echoed, indicating that the Nagas were sounding an alarm for an invasion.

Clearly, this was not the first confrontation between the dark elves and the Nagas. The dark elves employed their specialty, dark arts, to obscure the vision of the Nagas, but the Naga priests quickly used divine arts to dispel the dark elves’ spells, creating a back-and-forth exchange between the two sides.

Overall, however, the dark elves had the upper hand.

Male or female, all dark elves were formidable warriors, though their combat style differed completely from humans and dwarves. You won’t see dark elves raising their swords and charging in with slogans to kill enemies. Instead, they always take the opportunity when enemies are distracted by slaves, emerging silently from the shadows like ghosts to deliver fatal blows.

In the sea, these dark elves would be unable to inflict any damage on the Nagas, but on land, the situation was entirely different. Dark elves’ weapons were all smeared with poison, and even if they didn’t hit vital spots, just scratching a bit of skin would immediately be lethal.

The Nagas clearly lacked the despicable and shameless guile of the dark elves, and for a moment, they were being beaten back in retreat, with even the slave forces gleefully pushing the battle line forward. Everything seemed to be going smoothly.

Fang Zheng did not participate in the battle; the number of dark elves and slaves dying had nothing to do with him. He was also curious about why he was summoned here. Judging by the situation, the dark elves and their slave forces alone were more than enough to deal with the Nagas, leaving no part for him to intervene.

Could it be that they intended to lure him away and then do something to Little Hei and the others?

Fang Zheng wasn’t without suspicion, but after just contacting Little Hei, she insisted that everything was normal, with no issues whatsoever.

Of course, Little Hei also assured him that if any problems arose, she would immediately signal Fang Zheng. As Fang Zheng’s servant, as long as Fang Zheng used the Command Seal, he could instantly transfer himself to Little Hei’s side, just in case.

Yet... what was going on with these Nagas?

Watching the Nagas resisting desperately, Fang Zheng was puzzled. If he remembered correctly, the records in the White Tower had written about the Nagas. They were considered deep-sea civilization, their main nests were underwater, and resting on land occasionally wouldn’t be farfetched. But such desperate resistance seemed peculiar.

This city wasn’t built by the Nagas and didn’t look like their nest. Facing the dark elves’ invasion, these Nagas were reacting as fiercely as if their homeland was being torched. So, what was hidden here?

Moreover, Fang Zheng also noticed that since the battle began, Matriarch Coresa’s daughter had snuck away with a few others. It was obvious that this attack force was merely bait designed to attract the Nagas’ attention, perhaps why they were reassured enough to leave Fang Zheng here.

Nevertheless, Fang Zheng was unfazed. His goal wasn’t to unravel the dark elves’ schemes, but rather, his objectives were simple: to rescue all elves unharmed and to find and repair the Order Guardian Device left behind by the Goddess of Order.

As for what the dark elves were ultimately planning... it would surely mess up, anyway!

Soon enough, with the dark elves advancing once again, the Nagas were forced into a circular plaza that looked like a park previously, with a lake in the center. The remaining Nagas gathered there, resisting fiercely.

Yet at that moment, sensing unfavorable circumstances, Fang Zheng noticed several Naga priests leap into the lake, then emerged at its center, starting to chant mysterious spell texts.

Listening to the spell texts, the Naga Guardians seemed even more frenzied, like adrenaline-charged maniacs, as they resisted vehemently, while on the dark elves’ side, casualties inevitably began to occur.

A dark elf quietly seized the moment when a Naga Guardian was fighting a troll, appearing silently behind him, and pierced his heart with a sword, then swiftly pulled back. Although the Naga Guardian’s body shuddered, it didn’t immediately collapse as previous ones did. Instead, it roared, turned around, and thrust its long spear toward the dark elf standing before it.

Pitifully, the dark elves with their slender arms and legs couldn’t match the Naga Guardians, their exquisitely decorated armor with magic protection serving no defense, as the huge, thick long spear effortlessly skewered through the armor, spearing him like a kebab. With a cry of agony, the dark elf died instantly.

The dark elves’ advance halted amidst the additions of casualties, and while the dark elves and their slave forces kept pressing forward, the Nagas at this moment exhibited a frenzy of resisting.

At the same time, the chant from the Naga priests grew more intense, and Fang Zheng saw the priests in the center of the lake suddenly disperse. Then the lake water started to surge, and soon after, with a splash, a huge creature emerged from it!

Its appearance resembled a giant sea serpent, but it was several times larger than an ordinary sea serpent, almost as big as the Blossom Beasts Fang Zheng encountered in the Creature World. What intrigued Fang Zheng, however, was the familiar power emanating from this sea serpent.

It was the Goddess’s Power of Order!

”———————!!”

Meanwhile, the sea serpent opened its mouth suddenly, emitting a bizarre scream.

Hearing the sound, Fang Zheng raised an eyebrow; he recognized it as a special sound wave frequency that didn’t significantly impact humans or other species but differed for the dark elves. Fang Zheng saw the dark elves battling Naga Guardians retreating as if struck by invisible blows after hearing the sea serpent’s scream, their faces contorted with pain, as if hearing loud noise right in their ears, even the dark elf priests weren’t exempt.

Moreover, what followed piqued Fang Zheng’s interest even more.

Accompanied by the sea serpent’s scream, the water in the lake swiftly solidified into large Naga Guardians. They were significantly larger than the ordinary Naga Guardians, equipped with six arms, looking quite intimidating, then charged at the dark elves with roaring fury.

This time, the dark elves’ attack was finally halted.

Their poison-coated weapons had no effect on these water-consolidated Naga Guardians; after all, strictly speaking, they were elemental entities, and regular poisons naturally bore no effect on elemental creatures. Moreover, blades couldn’t inflict damage on elemental beings.

Soon, the battlefield started to shift, with dark elves suffering casualties, while their slave army was on the verge of total collapse.

”Male! Now is the time for you to serve the First Family!”

Then, another dark elf priest approached, eyeing Fang Zheng, and issued an order. Fang Zheng nodded, realizing that this sea serpent was why the First Family needed him here.

”Leave it to me.”

Speaking, Fang Zheng extended his hand, summoning the pitch-black greatsword.

He was curious about the sea serpent’s Goddess’s Power of Order and where it originated from.
