Pokemon: My Trainer Simulator

Chapter 1095: Chapter 657: Turning Their Own Tactics Against Them

Multiple attacks converged from all directions, all aimed straight at the Flygon in the center.

Yet it wasn’t the least bit flustered, even having the leisure to recall back when it went out to sea with Genji and was pincered from front and back by countless wild Gyarados.

Those were the days...

Flygon narrowed its eyes slightly, but its body began to move of its own accord.

”Lai-oh!”

With a sudden buzzing hum, white light flared, sand billowed, and the Dreepy’s vision blurred—Flygon had already vanished without a trace.

”Xiya?” ”Xiya!”

The two crossed paths in flight; after long practice, they no longer crashed into each other just because they lost sight of their target.

At the same time—

The Dragon Flame Dragapult had been charging spewed out as they crossed, the vicious multicolored Energy Dragon Head chasing after Flygon, only to miss as the latter suddenly changed its flight direction.

Boom!

The Dragon Flame slammed into the spinning sandstorm, blasting out countless fine grains of sand.

They all lifted their heads, staring at Flygon, whose double wings were vibrating at such high frequency they blurred as it reached the top of the Sandstorm Tornado in the blink of an eye. In that instant just now, the speed it exploded with even surpassed Dragapult after using Dragon Dance.

What a fast reaction!

And... was that Lightning Flash?

Dragapult also knew this Technique, but it believed its own Lightning Flash’s Acceleration wasn’t that exaggerated—maybe this was the difference in Technique proficiency the Trainer had mentioned.

Different Pokémon using the same Technique could produce completely different effects—

Was its attack intent too obvious,

or was the attack distance stretched too long?

”Waddles!”

It flicked its tail, and once the two Dreepy returned to the launch ports, it immediately lunged at the Flygon in the sky. Empowered by Dragon Dance, its ultra-high speed turned it into a streak of teal light.

Shelgon and Flygon had repeatedly confirmed that long-range attacks were hard to land effectively on them; under such circumstances, mid-to-close range combat might be its only path to victory.

Peril and payoff coexisted!

Even without a Trainer’s command, its opponent was in the same situation!

Dragapult rapidly closed in on Flygon, trying to use pressure to force the opponent to attack first, but to its surprise Flygon gave a flap of its wings and directly retreated into the storm where the sand was so dense it formed a wall!

Bang!

Sand burst upward and whirled with the wind, and Flygon vanished into the Tornadus.

A clear, melodious song rose from all directions.

”Waddles!?”

Dragapult’s eyes widened. The Tornadus before it was a mixture of Sandstorm and Quicksand Hell; even if its Ground Attribute could exempt it from Sandstorm’s assault, Quicksand Hell...

With its shaky grasp of basic Pokémon knowledge, it had no idea there was a Trait in this world called [Levitate].

A Trait that likewise grants immunity to damage from Ground Techniques.

It didn’t dwell on it for long, nor did it dare hover in place, shooting straight up toward higher altitude.

This Tornadus could trap Pokémon without Flying Ability just fine, but to trap something that could move freely in the air like it—what a joke.

Unless there was some limit on flight altitude.

However—

Just as it approached the thinner edge of the Tornadus, Flygon suddenly shot out from one side, its Double Wings nearly turning into afterimages for the sake of Acceleration, its sharp claws glowing indigo as they slashed down hard!

”Waddles!”

Dragapult hurriedly braked, twisting away to dodge the ferocious Dragon Claw.

Flygon missed with its strike and dove back into the Tornadus again, disappearing as if that attack had never existed.

Camping the exit?

After a brief silence, Dragapult slipped into Invisibility and once more charged upward.

Who knew that just as it moved, countless massive boulders glowing with yellow light appeared out of thin air above, plummeting down like meteors and then exploding with a thunderous boom!

Boom!

Even though it retreated quickly enough, it was still struck by some of the scattered, glowing flying stones.

”Waddles!”

Dragapult let out a muffled grunt and reappeared in the air, its narrow triangular eyes filled with disbelief.

The Sandstorm at the eye of the storm wasn’t that intense—how had Flygon located it?

It hesitated for a heartbeat, then began moving irregularly within the eye.

Past battle experience and its Trainer’s teachings told it that standing still while you’ve lost track of the enemy’s position was an extremely stupid move.

Unless you were absolutely certain you could Evasion and counterattack the moment the opponent struck.

Too dangerous!

Dragapult knew its own frame was fragile; Flygon’s reactions were in no way inferior to its own. If it took a direct hit from the opponent, how was it supposed to tank that?

Better to use its fundamental advantage—ultra-high speed—to confuse Flygon’s eyes.

Then seize the opportunity to break through the Tornadus.

It still had plenty of Techniques in reserve it hadn’t used yet.

Even if it ultimately failed to break out, a Sandstorm and Quicksand Hell of this scale shouldn’t last long. Once they dissipated, its Trainer would be able to see it, and then it could launch a counteroffensive!

Besides speed, it had another edge—patience!

”Waddles!”

With that thought, Dragapult’s movement gradually slowed, then suddenly sped up in the next instant.

Its path of motion became ever more elusive.

Within the Sandstorm—

Flygon watched Dragapult turn into a teal blur, its expression involuntarily twisting.

The thing it hated most was a Pokémon faster than itself; just relying on Dynamic Vision to track the opponent’s movement trajectory was headache enough.

Go all-in with something nasty!

Flygon knew full well that the current environment favored it and was a prime chance to defeat the opponent. The combo of Sandstorm and Quicksand Hell would be hard-pressed to trap Dragapult a second time.

Even if Dragapult had no answers, wouldn’t its Trainer choose to switch it out?

There wouldn’t be many more openings!

It thought to itself, channeling Dragon Attribute Energy as it gathered in its slightly parted jaws, a deep violet beam rapidly forming, and the moment it thrust its head out of the Tornadus, it spat the beam forth!
