Pokemon: My Trainer Simulator

Chapter 1080: Chapter 650: A Mission from God?

Night falls.

Torrential rain pours down, the sound of it never ceasing in the ears.

Dark clouds blanket the entire Nibel Plateau, casting a suffocating dark tone over it.

On the deep, dark cliffs.

An orange warm light shines like a lighthouse on the coast, drawing the curious eyes of many Wild Pokémon who huddle in their nests in that direction.

Nights on the Nibel Plateau rarely have such bright lights.

Especially on the misty, bleak cliffs.

All Pokémon know that the guardian of the plateau resides there, a powerful presence like an eternal mountain, rarely getting close to them, silently guarding everything on this land.

How could there be light from there?

Brought by humans?

That human...

The Wild Pokémon inevitably think of the novel food they tasted during the day, instinctively beginning to swallow.

Unfortunately, the storm deters their curiosity to explore, as in such weather, even the water-loving Pokémon choose to curl up in their nests.

Sleepiness emerges.

Countless Pokémon sink into dreams.

And at the source of the light, inside a not-so-narrow rock cave.

The rain only wets a small area of the cliff’s outer wall, the inside remains very dry and comfortable.

Baimu, wrapped in a soft blanket, gazes at the serene natural wilderness and tranquil lake below, surrounded by Pokémon of various colors sleeping sprawled out under the orange camping light.

”Hiss... exhale...”

He exhales a breath of white air.

The Nibel Plateau is located in Carlos East.

Here, the temperature difference between day and night is quite high in spring, and with the presence of the storm, it has currently dropped below five degrees Celsius.

Baimu feels a bit disappointed.

He’s not in a bad mood, nor is the environment so cold that it’s hard to sleep.

The Pokémon surrounding him as he sleeps provide warmth, enough to resist the biting cold wind, their breaths large and small, even and strong, making one feel extraordinarily calm and not at all lonely.

Ultimately.

Insomnia arises because he has truly confirmed who is guiding his own journey through time and the source of this Simulator golden finger—

Why?

Is there a mission for his existence?

His hand hidden under the blanket clenches the Thousand Cosmos Bracelet on his chest.

Used to setting a clear goal for himself and striving forward, Baimu is not used to this sword-drawn, perplexed feeling.

Answer me.

Then.

Give me an answer.

He lowers his gaze, silently praying to the Thousand Cosmos Bracelet in his arms, longing for a voice to sound from within.

”Can’t sleep?”

Baimu is startled, then turns his head to the source of the voice.

What enters his eyes are a pair of azure blue eyes, like the calm surface of a lake.

The owner of the eyes, Volcanion, is lying on a raised patch of ground, beside it leaning Magearna, with its pink eyes flashing as if charging.

”Mm.”

After a brief hesitation, he says, ”I’m waiting for an answer to a question.”

”A question?”

Volcanion’s voice is deep.

It clearly doesn’t want to wake the sleeping Magearna, as its fiery temper always calms down in front of the latter, even though it has often had pollen that it is allergic to smeared on its face, nonetheless only complaining calmly about it twice.

Baimu softly says:

”A question that can decide the future.”

”...Hmph, I don’t understand you humans. But if it’s that important, why not talk it over with them.”

Volcanion gestures with its head toward Aggron and other Pokémon, its voice muffled: ”Those guys trust you and rely on you so much, your futures should be tied together, right?”

He nods slightly, saying:

”You’re right, actually I’ve already discussed it with them. Unfortunately, discussion alone can’t provide the answer I’m seeking.”

Volcanion listens, confused, as such complex syntax has already exceeded its understanding for a Pokémon not adept at thinking.

Baimu, holding the Thousand Cosmos Bracelet, asks: ”Volcanion, what do you think your mission is?”

”Mission?”

”It’s what you must do.”

”If you put it that way...”

The large yellow eyebrows raise, then settle down, looking at the snuggling Magearna, ”To protect the Nibel Plateau and Magearna should be my mission.”

Baimu continues: ”Then one day, if a presence suddenly entrusts another mission to you?”

Volcanion responds decisively, ”Of course I’d blow it away, such a question doesn’t even need to be considered, so you humans...”

Indeed, this seems like something this guy would do.

”Stop, stop, let me finish.”

He helplessly stops this human-prejudiced guy from continuing to complain, ”If this presence provided you with great help, for instance, when Ash Ketchum and I weren’t around...

”Magearna was taken by those villains and its Soul Heart was stolen, almost costing its life, and this presence saved Magearna, would you accept the mission it gives you?”

Volcanion shakes its head, ”Such a thing could never happen.”

Baimu says, ”Then assume it happened.”

”So troublesome!”

Volcanion snorts a puff of white smoke from its nose in anger, a short whistle echoes within the cave.

It startles itself first, quickly glances at Magearna to find it still asleep, then relaxes and, a little dissatisfied, says:

”As you say, of course, I would accept it. Pokémon, unlike humans, always repay their debts no matter what.”

”Yeah, I think so too—meaning your first half of the sentence.”

He holds up a finger, replying: ”The issue troubling me now lies in the presence of such a being, it has done me a great favor, and I have to accept the mission it gives me.
