Pokemon: My Trainer Simulator

Chapter 1093: Chapter 656: Desert Elf

Astonishing Reversal!

The Shelgon, caught in a state of confusion, not only held on through Hold On but retaliated against Hydreigon with Meteor Shower.

The sudden turn of events left countless onlooking Meteor People in awe.

They couldn’t help but feel admiration for Genji.

Truly the Four Heavenly Kings of Hoenn!

Executing Hold On and Meteor Shower in a state of confusion with such rapid transition that the opponent couldn’t react — how strong must one’s will be to achieve such a feat?

Despite their praise, they couldn’t help but worry as they turned their gaze to Baimu, for a Trainer, nothing is more painful than being one step away from victory only to face a crushing counterattack.

Unexpectedly, Baimu’s face did not show much dejection.

He glanced at the Shelgon, which had not been able to stand up for a long time, and his gaze fell on the Hydreigon nearby, lying with its belly up and smoke rising from its surface.

”...Ah!”

Zheng Fang, serving as the Referee, snapped out of his trance and quickly approached Hydreigon, raising his left hand slightly and shouting, ”Hydrei—”

”Wait!”

A deep, aged voice sounded, coming from the cold and stern-faced Genji.

The Meteor People and Zheng Fang were puzzled, and then another voice suddenly sounded:

”Feather Rest.”

In an instant.

Countless pure white feathers appeared out of thin air in the void, gently drifting down onto Hydreigon. Each feather they touched transformed into green light, spreading to every wound and healing them.

Another reversal!

Zheng Fang was dumbfounded, and the Meteor People were in an uproar.

They quickly turned to look at Shelgon, but it remained in a difficult state, unable to rise — evidently, it had little left for a counterattack.

After all, it had held on until now through Hold On and sheer willpower, and its confusion had not dissipated.

On the other hand, on Hydreigon’s side, the succession of descending feathers gradually restored its stamina, allowing it to hover again, its three massive heads filled with menace.

The next moment.

”Roar loudly!”

”Roar—!!”

A deafening roar resounded, and a massive dark violet energy wave spewed from Hydreigon’s central head, striking Shelgon, now a stationary target, with lightning speed.

Boom!

Smoke enveloped it and then quickly dispersed.

The Volleyball Spirit Shelgon lay in a shallow pit amidst the lingering smoke, its eyes marked with black circles replacing its pupils.

”Shelgon... Shelgon has lost its combat ability! Hydreigon wins!”

Zheng Fang, while announcing the result, kept glancing at Genji and Baimu, afraid that they might suddenly say ”Wait” again. Fortunately, no further reversals occurred.

Hydreigon panted heavily, though its character would normally prompt it to raise its head and roar twice.

But having battled Shelgon to this extent, its attribute energy and spirit were thoroughly exhausted, and Feather Rest fell far short of compensating for the actual toll of this battle.

Genji lifted the brim of his hat, revealing clouded eyes full of authority, and retracted Shelgon, saying:

”A commendable decision, the Pokémon’s ability and will were exceptional. Most importantly... Lord Baimu, did you realize my true intent from the start?”

”You can just call me Baimu. I merely followed suit, with full confidence in Hydreigon.”

Baimu shook his head, speaking loudly enough for the other to hear: ”Besides, isn’t that exactly what your strategy was too?”

The Meteor People were perplexed but saw Genji nod in agreement with this statement.

”Believing in the power of Pokémon is the responsibility of a Trainer. I’m very glad you upheld this from beginning to end.”

The final duel between Shelgon and Hydreigon was centered on a contest of willpower, with the side failing to withstand the opponent’s assault destined to lose.

At the critical moment, the confused Shelgon, relying on its will, executed Hold On and Meteor Shower, whereas Hydreigon, relying on its will and relatively better stamina, endured the Meteor Shower and then counterattacked.

From Genji’s perspective.

Even though Defend blocked part of the power, the third wave of Meteor Shower and Dragon Dive still brought Shelgon’s state down to a dangerous level, prompting him to set a trap and believe in Shelgon’s willpower for a reversal at the very end.

And although Baimu didn’t use Future Sight, he previously mentioned he always regarded Genji with the highest standards.

What does the highest standard mean?

Ignoring negative status and remaining stamina, using super-powerful techniques to take down an opponent significantly better off than oneself in one hit —

He was proven correct.

Indeed, Genji’s Shelgon was an extraordinary Pokémon.

Of course, it wasn’t a problem if he guessed wrong, as Dragon’s Pulse could directly take care of the confused Shelgon...

By comparison.

There existed a certain gap between Hydreigon and Shelgon.

After all, when it comes to attacking the latter, it’s a flying unit attacking a ground unit, a long-range high-power mobile unit against one that can only Evasion within a ”confined” space on the ground.

Shelgon couldn’t ascend into the sky like Pikachu treading on Thunder, let alone hover.

Its mobility depended on rolling.

Yet despite this, Hydreigon still had to rely on a close-quarters battle to seize victory, and fortunately, it withstood a round of Meteor Shower at the critical juncture.

Inverted Scale?

At that time, Shelgon’s Inverted Scale was nearing its end, and its rotating stability was much worse than before. It was already quite difficult to break through Defend.

Sending Hydreigon crashing down was accomplished under Baimu’s direct instructions.

This also shows that managing to severely wound Hydreigon with a single Meteor Shower — it’s hard to imagine Shelgon was a still-unfinished evolution Pokémon.
