System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Zhu Guanghong knew about Min Rui’s father being hospitalized. At Min Rui’s age, coming up with three hundred thousand all at once was indeed challenging.

Zhu Guanghong sighed lightly: ”Since you’ve made up your mind and talked to Professor Huang, then you should go ahead.”

Min Rui was startled: ”Director Zhu? What’s going on with you?”

”You’d rather have us all leave than talk to the hospital leaders? You’re the ward director! You can refuse!”

Zhu Guanghong replied, ”I am indeed the ward director, but I want to accomplish something as well. I can’t dedicate myself like Director Wu, so I can only strive not to hold anyone back.”

”Min Rui, I understand your current difficulties.”

”But we are both associate chief physicians now, and in a regional hospital, life demands are substantially less of a concern.”

”A person should ideally leave something behind in their life, even if it’s not much... If that’s just not possible, at least do what you want to do...”

”We cannot participate in careers that benefit human health, but we also need to think about advancing hospital and regional medical development.”

Min Rui was at a loss for words and turned to leave.

He kept muttering things like: You’re so noble, you’re amazing, you eat and lie down, damn it.

Zhu Guanghong sat in the office, squinting for a moment, but he didn’t call Min Rui back.

One can only talk about ideals after having enough to eat. Having passed the hardest phase, he couldn’t morally bind everyone else.

How could Min Rui, not being in his position, know that the trauma center was not just a personal scar in Wu Xiang’s career, but also a scar for trauma surgery?!

...

Emergency department, in the operating theatre.

Lu Cheng stood at the main surgeon’s position, Professor Qu Daowen stood at the first assistant’s spot, and Dai Linfang, his every shift partner, was at the second assistant’s place.

Lu Cheng worked attentively, while Qu Daowen and Dai Linfang kept their gaze constantly on the surgical field.

This was an emergency patient with splenic contusion and splenic rupture, proposed surgical method being Spleen Preservation Surgery (backup Splenectomy)!

Spleen Preservation Surgery, in Xiang Province, is routinely a topic of team discussions at Xiangya Hospital and the Second Hospital; it is the surgical technique that the trauma center and general surgery at the Provincial People’s Hospital strive to explore.

In ordinary regional hospitals, only a few chief physicians have this capability.

Yet such a scene didn’t only appear at Xiangzhou People’s Hospital, moreover, the person in charge now was a seemingly young doctor, making the picture somewhat spectacular.

Dong Liumeng, observing the surgery’s operations from the audience, glanced back at the film viewer to carefully examine the patient’s CT scan result. His eyes gradually widened.

Dong Liumeng didn’t utter a sound to disturb Lu Cheng’s operation, continually holding in his emotions.

Until he discerned that Lu Cheng’s operation was nearing completion, he couldn’t help but applaud duly, with a rigorous tone:

”Professor Dong, this is simply unbelievable!”

”May I offer this perspective: Compared to Lu Cheng’s operation of Spleen Preservation Surgery, our past clinical operations were essentially traditional Spleen Preservation Surgery.”

Traditional Spleen Preservation Surgery relies on Wound Cleaning Skill and removal techniques, partially removing the damaged spleen to retain the remaining splenic function.

But Lu Cheng’s Spleen Preservation Surgery relies on superb Suturing Technique, repairing and sewing the damaged spleen to retain more spleen function.

It’s akin to lower limb injury; for life-saving, traditional surgical technique is amputation, while Lu Cheng performs Limb Preservation Surgery, missing nothing.

Qu Daowen clearly perceives the post-surgical result manifestation more precisely, pressing his lips and deeply inhaling: ”That’s a reasonable assumption!~”

”After seeing it, I felt very complex!~” Qu Daowen’s tone was profound, momentarily unsure of what to say.

If Spleen Preservation Surgery can be done this way, then what does that make of the partial spleen removal surgeries done previously?

Insufficient technique? Negligence leading to fatality?

How should his many years of surgical career and experience be appraised?

Dai Linfang lowered his head, saying: ”Professors, actually, Lu Cheng and I have basic operations that still fall short compared to yours.”

”Completing this surgery purely comes from the Suturing Technique shortcut.”

Qu Daowen knew Dai Linfang was trying to comfort him: ”But the shortcut is something that you all have pioneered!~”

”One must concede to age, as technology updates, younger generations, older generations…”

”I’ve only gradually begun to understand the mindset of those older directors, the minimally invasive, the open, younger, older generations…”

I exhausted my mind and lifetime efforts to attain the National Army official staff, and now you’re telling me it’s 1949?

Dai Linfang lifted his head: ”But Teacher Qu, we’ve at least seen new things, starting now, everything becomes less ignorant, right?”

”Compared to those predecessors who never knew, we are at least fortunate.”

Dai Linfang is a child who can console others.

Qu Daowen nodded gently, shaking his head nostalgically: ”Indeed… At least we know there’s such a thing.”

”It’s a pity, only a pity I’m old, likely unable to learn it.”

Qu Daowen simply lamented.

His technique, compared to Lu Cheng, was relatively insufficient, termed ’era limitation,’ termed ’cognitive limitation’!

Previously, the global mainstream was partial spleen removal preservation surgeries; all surgeries worldwide were conducted like this, and even to perform Spleen Preservation Surgery took highly skilled surgeons.

Being able to break through was inherently challenging, a cut above others, and compared to complete spleen removal, it was already a blessing for the patient.

But even then, it’s difficult to endure the dimensional downshift attack brought about by scientific innovation!
