System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”Well, what can we do? Our technology is lagging behind. Even though they said a domestically produced MRI has been developed recently, how effective is it?”

”Also, Professor Tong, this is the time when you should be comforting me.” Lu Cheng joked, trying to break off the conversation.

”True.” Tong Yuan’an sighed again.

”You’re still young, I should say more to support you.”

”Oh, Xiao Lu... if possible, Director Tan said he wants to talk to you.” Tong Yuan’an proactively changed the subject.

Lu Cheng said, ”Professor Tong, please tell Teacher Tan that right now, my reach is as high as my feet take me. There’s no platform or shoulder to rely on.”

”I can’t see far or wide.”

”I don’t know how high the sky is or how thick the earth is, how can I talk about pointing at anything? I haven’t even stepped out of Xiangzhou, so I don’t think Teacher Tan needs to chat with me.”

”I’m not worthy, nor is it the time to discuss this.”

Tong Yuan’an thought for a moment, nodded: ”True, I’ll report this back to Director Tan.”

”Director Tan was also shocked, actually, every time we go abroad, there are quite a few discoveries, though the technology in our country is also catching up.”

”But the focus and direction of concentrated advancement are different...”

”Thank you for understanding, Professor Tong.” Lu Cheng exchanged pleasantries with Tong Yuan’an for a while before voluntarily hanging up the phone.

Tong Yuan’an’s words did not cause much ripple in Lu Cheng’s mind, just as the current international conflicts and wars are beyond Lu Cheng’s focus.

If you’re not in that position, don’t worry about those affairs.

Without the ability to save the world, why have a saintly heart?

Is it deserving?

Nevertheless, Lu Cheng calmly shared the words from Tong Yuan’an with Mu Nanshu.

Mu Nanshu, being wise, comforted: ”Lu Cheng, the world won’t stop for one person, nor will it wait for anyone intentionally.”

”Besides, different teams and individuals start from different points.”

”Life isn’t absolutely fair, let alone different development stages of countries.”

Lu Cheng smiled: ”Of course, people wouldn’t even wait for Director Tan, how could they possibly wait for me?”

”Moreover, the quality of these suturing instruments is only ninety to ninety-five percent of that of experts; it hasn’t reached one hundred percent yet.”

”If you’re seeking the best treatment effect, it’s not enough. Our tendon suturing technique still stands out.”

”Of course, if you want to improve the average level and general quality, our suturing technique lags behind others, mainly because our suturing technique requires a long learning period.”

”So perhaps this is what you mean, our country’s top medical level isn’t inferior to foreign countries, but our general medical level is catching up.”

”Tendon suturing instruments are just a small aspect of hand surgery tendon rupture, just having suturing instruments makes you wonder how advanced the equipment in their hospitals must be.”

Glancing at a spot to see the entire leopard.

Foreign professors themselves don’t have the quality of succubi!

They’re human too; many can’t surpass many domestic professors, but their treatment quality can be excellent.

It’s because besides their operation, the quality and average level of many other aspects is higher than domestic.

According to Mu Nanshu, foreign orthopedics are equipped with professional rehabilitation therapists, only focused on orthopedic surgery post-rehabilitation research.

Domestically, clinical doctors casually provide post-operative rehabilitation guidance according to personal understanding.

Foreign countries also have many auxiliary rehabilitation devices.

But looking at the overall quality of orthopedic treatment, rehabilitation accounts for more than forty percent of the proportion. So, overall, although domestic surgical operation levels are higher, comprehensive treatment effects may not be as good as theirs.

From a simple perspective, the strength from eating vegetables just isn’t as powerful as the strength from eating meat continuously.

Mu Nanshu then said, ”Lu Cheng, you also have to consider that our top-notch technology is not inferior to theirs.”

”And the cost is much lower.”

”This suits our national situation, this is the path we chose, it’s viable and fits us, that’s why we chose to take it.”

”Hey, you just mentioned, what happened with that student Director Tan took out, why did the operation fail?”

Lu Cheng said, ”Professor Tong said they were too nervous, and the operation completely changed shape.”

Mu Nanshu explained, ”Oh... Public operations and private operations in the operating room have completely different mindsets.”

”I need to wash my face, finish up and rest, you should sleep first too. You have a shift tomorrow.”

”Hmm, okay, you also rest early.”

”The phone numbers I gave you, you can call if you need help, they’re my buddies.” Lu Cheng instructed.

”Don’t worry, I can handle these things myself.”

Mu Nanshu’s voice was warm: ”Here in the hometown, only my uncle and aunt don’t treat our family well; everyone else is very good, okay?”

Lu Cheng then said, ”Now that I have a formal job, I can’t be with you all the time in every detail.”

Mu Nanshu then said, ”So university days were better, carefree. Buying fruit together, buying paper and pens together, buying clothes...”

...

The essence of emergency shifts boils down to just two things.

First is waiting.

Second is emergency response.

Lu Cheng was quite lucky; this set of emergency rescue room shifts went smoothly. In two days, one day shift and one night shift, only three debridement patients.

Severely injured trauma patients all avoided Lu Cheng.

However, the luck only belonged to Lu Cheng; after Lu Cheng’s day shift, two patients died during the night shift, and three people left the rescue room before the night shift.

Colleagues were very understanding; unless it’s something special, aside from the on-duty second-line shift, they wouldn’t rashly disturb Lu Cheng for overtime.

Everyone’s energy is limited. Although Lu Cheng’s personal ability is strong, his shifts and workload far exceed labor laws.

Further making Lu Cheng be on standby for overtime would be too inhumane.

Right after the night shift, it’s followed by a day shift in the ward, marking the time for Lu Cheng to start writing medical records.

February 20th, the 11th day of the first lunar month, Saturday, 10:40 AM, Xiao Zhaoxi brought an unexpected visitor!

Xiao Zhaoxi knocked on the emergency office door and said, ”Xiao Lu, come over for a moment, formally introduce you.”

When Lu Cheng turned, he had already seen Dai Linfang standing next to Xiao Zhaoxi, but it seemed Xiao Zhaoxi didn’t know that Lu Cheng and Dai Linfang were acquainted!

”Dr. Dai Linfang, Attending Physician, sent by the Medical Department to be the Deputy Director of Surgery in our Emergency Department, Emergency Department Scientific Logistics.”

After Xiao Zhaoxi introduced, he added, ”Dr. Dai, this is Dr. Lu Cheng from our Emergency Department, an outstanding talent selected by examination with exceptional performance and personal ability, someone I must highlight to you.”

Lu Cheng wore a mask, his eyes slightly shocked, but his expression remained calm, shaking right hands with Dai Linfang: ”Hello, Dr. Dai.”

”Hello, Brother Lu, I’ve not been in clinical practice for long, I’ve been in the Oncology Department before, I hope you and other teachers can guide me more.” Dai Linfang was also a seasoned performer.

”Dr. Dai, come with me, let me introduce you to others.”

”Once I roughly introduce you, familiarize yourself with the environment. The main responsibilities of our surgical deputy director include these points...” Xiao Zhaoxi led Dai Linfang out of the room, detailing the division of labor in the emergency department.

Lu Cheng instantly felt a headache.

However, he seemed to have no good solution!

Lu Cheng knew, with Dai Linfang’s qualifications and family background, he’s a kingpin at Xiangzhou Renmin Hospital, with almost no one able to affect his decisions.

Even if his family’s connections were mainly out-of-province.

But the face that’s deserved will still be given...

Dai Linfang’s requests weren’t excessive either.

Half an hour later, Dai Linfang was in the lounge.

Lu Cheng was ordering takeout, upon seeing Dai Linfang, got up directly, closed the emergency room door, and leaned against it: ”What are you here for?”
