System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Emergency department, inside the doctor’s office, Lu Cheng was on duty as usual, meticulously writing the medical records of the hospitalized patients.

Outside the office, four people entered one after another: Yao Xin, Huang Haibo, Tian Zhiliang, and Zhu Yuanzhou.

Seeing them, Lu Cheng stood up and greeted each of them. Zhu Yuanzhou, who was last, closed the office door.

”Xiao Lu, have a seat.”

”Today, we are here specifically to see you.” Yao Xin led with a hand gesture and sat down first.

Noticing Lu Cheng’s gaze moving toward the tea station, Zhu Yuanzhou leaned forward proactively, ”Lu Cheng, sit... I’ll make tea.”

Lu Cheng clicked the save button for the unfinished medical record, turned around with a smile and asked, ”Dean Yao, am I not being ineffectively reported again?”

Huang Haibo shook his head and replied, ”Ineffective reporting should be handled by the medical department; Dean Yao wouldn’t come for that.”

”Dean Yao is here to discuss with our emergency department regarding the establishment of the trauma center.”

”Hospital leadership plans for our trauma center to officially launch and open on April 1st.”

”Originally, I recommended Zhu Yuanzhou, the deputy chief physician, as the head to Dean Yao, but Dr. Zhu himself approached the leadership and declined the position.”

From afar, Zhu Yuanzhou delivers his earnest voice, ”Director Huang, Dean Yao, I’m incapable; my abilities are truly limited and I can’t handle this.”

The trauma center of the emergency department, independent from the internal medicine, surgery, and rescue room, holds real power and counts as a promotion!

Yet Zhu Yuanzhou truly lacks the ability to seize this opportunity.

While Xiao Zhaoxi was around, nobody dared to bring up the trauma center, because establishing it means taking on significant pressure.

Yao Xin’s tone was calm, ”Actually, how to configure the trauma center should be an internal issue for your emergency department to handle and solve.”

”If it weren’t for considering Director Huang being newly appointed to the emergency department, I wouldn’t have come.”

”Let’s determine now whether anyone will volunteer themselves.”

Yao Xin’s gaze pressured Tian Zhiliang and Zhu Yuanzhou.

If there has to be a main person responsible for the trauma center, these two should be duty-bound.

Tian Zhiliang had a valid reason, ”Dean Yao, I am currently in charge of the surgical team and the surgical emergency room, and truly have no capacity to spare.”

”The establishment of the trauma center is a major affair, affecting the quality of service in emergency rescue across our State, so it must be done with full force.”

”I don’t have the energy for it, and hope the leadership will consider this accordingly.”

Yao Xin said, ”That can be arranged, with your position going to Zhu Yuanzhou, and you heading the trauma center.”

Tian Zhiliang trembled immediately, raising his hand away from the official cliche, ”Dean Yao... I won’t do well, and if I must do it, my suggestion is not to open the trauma center.”

Huang Haibo comes from an internal medicine background; both Zhu Yuanzhou and Tian Zhiliang have declined, leaving only Lu Cheng among the five in the office.

”Then will you?” Yao Xin asked.

Lu Cheng’s eyes subtly flickered, ”Dean Yao, I am not of associate senior status. Besides...”

Yao Xin decisively concluded, ”Not being one can be one. Besides can be no besides!”

Laughing inwardly, joking aside, Huang Haibo wants to give you a push despite your rejection and reluctance?

Yao Xin is not very familiar with Huang Haibo, but Huang Haibo brought out an official document from years ago for Lu Cheng, his methods are truly aggressive.

In reality, Lu Cheng overseeing a business as an attending physician would be unheard of at State People’s Hospital.

Yet the trauma center is a mess, even unwelcome to mention. Otherwise, higher leadership wouldn’t issue official documents and embarrassingly shelve them.

Now, if Huang Haibo brings it back up, Lu Cheng’s associate degree status can be prepared in advance.

Previous leaders who mentioned the trauma center will step forward to build teams for this matter.

”Dean Yao, the establishment of the trauma center is a big deal, but our surgical team currently lacks personnel as well?” Lu Cheng straightforwardly said.

How could one person manage an entire trauma center?

”Now it’s about whether someone wants to lead the team, not about lacking personnel.”

”Personnel can be recruited, can be appointed!”

”The key is whether this matter can be made official; hospital leadership and the State Health and Health Commission leaders are especially concerned.”

”Representative hospitals in every prefecture-level city in our Xiang Province have already begun the construction of trauma centers; starting now is already a step behind.”

”It absolutely must be done,” Yao Xin stated.

Tian Zhiliang and Zhu Yuanzhou, who returned to sit down after serving tea, both silently lowered their heads.

Lu Cheng asked, ”Dean Yao, what is the initial setup of the trauma center, roughly how many people?”

Yao Xin replied, ”An initial setup can have four in-staff, two employed by the hospital, and one labor-dispatched.”

”Further discussions will follow.”

”So you can take one with you, then recruit two more, hospital-employed and labor-dispatched, can come at any time!”

”Who do you want?” Lu Cheng did not clearly refuse, so Yao Xin simply moved the discussion forward.

Of course, Lu Cheng did not dare to name names. After careful thought, this setup was barely sufficient, so he said, ”Dean Yao, I follow hospital leadership’s arrangement.”

”But if personnel is insufficient, it definitely cannot be established.”

Yao Xin then looked at Tian Zhiliang and Zhu Yuanzhou, saying, ”Director Tian, Director Zhu, I still want to reiterate to you, after establishing the trauma center, at the beginning we will invite experts from the provincial hospital to stay and provide guidance. This will not be a short period.”
