System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Dai Linfang smiled and said, ”Are you doing logistics for Brother Lu?”

”Cut it out. That’s not a funny joke.” Lu Cheng sternly warned.

Lu Cheng was genuinely a bit angry.

Dai Linfang could be a bit unruly in the research group, and Lu Cheng could turn a blind eye, but if it affected his clinical work, it would touch Lu Cheng’s lifeline, which he would never allow.

”Brother Lu, do you want to hear the truth or lies?” Dai Linfang knew that if he wasn’t honest, Lu Cheng wouldn’t let it go.

”I want to hear both!” Lu Cheng replied.

”The lie is, I’m here to experience the clinical environment. After all, I come from a clinical background, and projects detached from clinical work are just vague, detached from reality, and meaningless to patients.”

”The truth is, I’m here in the emergency department to help you, Brother Lu, deal with unnecessary troubles.” Dai Linfang said.

”Unnecessary troubles?” Lu Cheng asked.

Dai Linfang smirked, showing a bit of mischief on his face, ”Brother Lu, don’t you think that when you are on duty in the emergency surgery, slaying all corners and fully demonstrating your absolute ability, it’s a good thing for everyone?”

Hearing this, Lu Cheng remained silent for a moment, did not reply, but walked from the door towards the lower bunk of the rest room.

Dai Linfang continued to reveal the scar: ”Brother Lu, to put it bluntly, with your ability, you would be the best talent at a higher-level teaching hospital.”

”But this is not the case here.”

”You can send patients to the operating room and let the surgeons take them away. The emergency department takes the credit, but the specialized departments bear the blame.”

”Once or twice is fine, but ten or twenty times might affect others’ reputation.”

”To be more direct, you’ve disrupted the inherent balance of the State People’s Hospital’s emergency system. If one link exceeds the comprehensive ability here, it makes some people look incompetent!”

”The mortality rate for surgeries is getting higher; what do you expect them to do?”

”Can others still get promoted?”

”If they can’t get promoted, can you still operate normally, Brother Lu?”

Whether it’s emergency surgery or other surgeries, the mortality rate should not stand out like a sore thumb!

The State People’s Hospital benchmarks not only against the past and present but also against other regional city hospitals.

The higher-ups look at the final numbers.

How many surgeries were performed, and what was the mortality rate?

If for the same type of case, other regional city hospitals performed twenty surgeries and only five patients died.

But if fifteen patients died here, that’s certainly exaggerated.

But the problem is, with the usual standards, many patients with the same conditions wouldn’t even get into the operating room.

”Brother Dai, what are you trying to say?” Lu Cheng scratched his head.

Although he already knew the answer, he still wanted to hear something different from Dai Linfang.

”What do you mean? Either you get targeted, make a mistake once, and all your privileges are taken away.”

”Or you get transferred to another place; they’re not going to let your influence spread that wide.” Dai Linfang said bluntly.

”Because if I were a surgeon, and I knew some patients were beyond my ability, I wouldn’t like to see them enter my operating room!”

”Something I am powerless over, yet someone insists I must achieve it, I’d go crazy too!”

Lu Cheng understood what Dai Linfang meant and countered, ”Then what’s the point of you being here?”

Dai Linfang said, ”Isn’t it to add an extra pair of hands? By being here, at least I can legitimately know what you’re doing, Brother Lu.”

”If someone tries to trip you up, I can pull you up at the critical moment.”

”Of course, I can deal with some minor stuff in advance for you.”

”You don’t need to thank me; I’m doing this just so you can focus more on your projects.” Dai Linfang lifted his chin with a sense of superiority.

”Brother Dai, if you keep doing this, I suggest you grow a big beard and move to Rongcheng.” Lu Cheng said, annoyed.

Dai Linfang immediately straightened his expression: ”I’m from a surgical background and haven’t been in the surgical system for a long time; I’m really itching.”

”Well, my position is currently being transferred to the State People’s Hospital.”

Lu Cheng was shocked, ”Are you crazy!?”

”Brother Dai, don’t you know I’m leaving?”

Dai Linfang nodded and said, ”I know, go ahead. I’m staying here to develop.”

”Xiangzhou is still a very interesting place.”

Lu Cheng walked straight out and closed the door behind him: ”You’re definitely a bit off; my mom told me not to play with fools.”

Dai Linfang indeed seemed a bit sick, thinking of transferring his file from Zhongnan Hospital to the State People’s Hospital.

Dai Linfang followed him out of the rest room and said, ”Brother Lu, don’t get so worked up.”

Lu Cheng said, ”With thinking like yours, how can I not get worked up? You’re a lunatic.”

Dai Linfang grabbed Lu Cheng and pulled him back into the rest room. This time, it was Dai Linfang who blocked the door.

”Brother Lu, you really don’t know how good you have it!”

”Do you think the place you’re in is just anywhere?”

”It’s a treasure land, an autonomous prefecture, where ethnic minority students even get extra points for exams.”

Dai Linfang told the truth; Lu Cheng’s raw exam score was 666, the total score was 686 after adding 20 extra points, but it seemed meaningless.

”Everyone outside is thinking of coming here to help. Have you ever thought about how, if you could raise the scientific research level here or achieve something, it’s something other places can’t compare to?”
