System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Few true scholars and researchers who can produce results spend their days promoting and benchmarking themselves; they rely on absolute scientific achievements to make an impact, and Lu Cheng’s reluctance to promote himself aligns with his character.

For someone of Lu Cheng’s age to have such accomplishments, he must certainly be one of those researchers.

Lu Cheng said, ”Dean Huang, I’ve only been here for two and a half months, and the level of access and treatment I currently receive is already more than generous from the hospital leadership.”

”As a clinical doctor, my main focus should naturally be clinical work.”

”With both professors present to guide the trauma center’s establishment this time, I must cherish this opportunity and learn well.”

Research is abstract, and those that cannot be applied to treating disease are exploratory and intangible.

Treating and saving lives is the tangible aspect; the State People’s Hospital does not handle many research tasks, as the nation’s characterization of regional city hospitals is as educational comprehensive hospitals.

Huang Chunhai nodded: ”Yes, clinical work is the primary responsibility of clinical doctors, but if Dr. Lu still has energy, it’s worth considering branching into research.”

”Our hospital also supports internal doctors in pursuing research and innovation.”

”Of course, today’s main task is to welcome Professors Qu and Dong to our hospital to guide the construction of the trauma center.”

”...”

Acquaintances and introductions are just interludes; official work must be launched.

The establishment of a new trauma center, being a revisitation of an old topic, requires careful consideration of documents, equipment reserves, talent reserves, etc.

Professor Qu Daowen has experience in initially building the trauma center at the Provincial People’s Hospital, thus providing substantial guidance during discussions.

Hours passed quickly, and it was soon mealtime.

Huang Chunhai naturally proposed that everyone go together to eat, but was politely refused by Qu Daowen: ”Dean Huang, perhaps we can postpone the meal together to this afternoon?”

”During lunch, Xiao Dong and I want to talk with Dr. Lu Cheng alone, mainly about casual professional matters; can the deans make this convenient for us?”

Inside, Huang Chunhai felt somewhat bitter, understanding that in the minds of Qu Daowen and others at that moment, his impression was that of someone who doesn’t do practical work and fails to recognize real talent!

”That’s fine, let’s follow Professor Qu’s wishes then!”

Huang Chunhai looked at Lu Cheng: ”Dr. Lu, you must ensure the hospitality work is done well.”

Lu Cheng felt a chill internally: ”Dean Huang, I assure you the task will be completed.”

...

After exchanging pleasantries, Lu Cheng and a few others left the room.

The office went silent instantly as Huang Chunhai, Xiang Kun, and the others exchanged glances and placed the pressure on Huang Haibo.

Huang Haibo expressed grievance: ”Dean Huang, Dean Xiang, I just arrived… half a month ago…”

”Weren’t you from Long County People’s Hospital before?” Huang Chunhai’s tone was somber, even somewhat cold.

Though the thoughts of Qu Daowen and others wouldn’t affect Huang Chunhai’s promotion, his ”reputation” was difficult to change.

Huang Haibo replied, ”I was not a director before either!”

Vice Dean Xiang Kun pointed out the crux of the issue: ”Dean Huang, it’s Xiao Zhaoxi; he sealed off many things to stabilize the department situation to jump elsewhere.”

Huang Chunhai, laughing and crying, cursed: ”This old fox.”

Did Xiao Zhaoxi do wrong? Certainly not; when the inspection team was stationed in Xiangzhou, maintaining stability was the best choice.

Emergency departments are the hardest to stabilize, but Xiao Zhaoxi managed it, thus fulfilling the inspection responsibilities perfectly.

”Indeed, research, clinical, and administrative work are separate spheres; this time we appeared quite passive!” Huang Chunhai’s voice was somber.

The fluorescent light in the office remained cold.
