Super Gene Hunting Ground

In the dead of night, starlight fell like snow.

In that deep pond, a girl’s head slowly emerged from the water.

She was the overlord of this pond, a thirty-meter-long fish similar to the silver carp found on Earth.

Thanks to the special environment of this planet, she had reached the intermediate level of King Level Realm. A few days ago, among the fish that died in the pond, besides a portion that were Primary King Level Realm mutated fish, the majority were Enhanced Level mutated fish.

The flesh and blood of each mutated fish contained powerful Evolution Energy.

This fish, which had evolved into a fish-person, relied on consuming some of her own kind each day to continue her path of Genetic Evolution.

However, the blood battle in the pond a few days ago had dealt a devastating blow to the food chain. At the time, this fish-person was at the deepest part of the pond, unable to emerge in time to investigate the situation as she was breaking through to the intermediate King Level Realm in her cultivation.

By the time she completed her evolution and surfaced, she discovered many dead fish floating in the pond, and the majority of the fish at King Level Realm and Enhanced Realm had disappeared.

Several of her clan members had also gone missing, not a small number.

With great difficulty, she found a few surviving clan members and upon questioning, learned that an inexplicable melee had broken out within the pond, turning the entire pond bloody, leading the entire clan to madly partake in an incomprehensible massacre.

These past few days, she had been searching for this potential murderer, investigating the causes of the pond’s calamity, but to no avail.

Now, with the significant disappearance of fish in the pond, her evolutionary path was seriously affected, leaving her furious and frustrated.

”Master, we’ve discovered a strange hole at the bottom of the pond, something that wasn’t there before. This incident might be related to that hole.”

A golden eel surfaced and reported the latest developments to her.

The blood-red color of the pond had only gradually begun to fade today, turning the previously clear pond water murky, and with the significant reduction in fish, the underground hole had gone unnoticed.

”Let’s go take a look.”

The fish-person dived into the water with her few attendants, swimming toward the hole.

Moments later, she arrived at the hole, but it was too small; her fish-form body was too large, and so she transformed into a half-human, half-fish figure, with a woman’s upper body and a fish tail below. She squeezed through the hole.

The other fish that followed her, being of a relatively larger size, couldn’t enter the cave and had to stay outside. Only the eel that brought the news could follow her in.

Through the hole, they came to a mining pit.

In the mining pit, the fish-person saw hundreds of golden eels excitedly swimming back and forth.

”What are you doing here?”

In the past few days, she rarely encountered so many golden eels at once, and their presence struck her as odd.

As the overlord of the pond, the golden eels trembled in fear upon seeing the fish-person.

One of the bolder golden eels nervously said,

”Master, we discovered this hole a few days ago. The water from the pond kept flowing in, and out of curiosity, we came through it. We found that there were about a dozen humans inside, and they killed many of our kind.”

”Humans?”

”Yes, probably the Miners from the nearby mines, and this, is their usual mining pit. Look here, there are Purple Source Crystal Stones.”

One of the eels led the fish-person to the end of the mining pit, where they saw Crystal Stones embedded in the purple rock on the wall.

Purple Origin Crystal Stones were a favorite among all creatures. Their special bodily structures allowed them to directly absorb the Energy that leaked from Resource Crystal Stones.

Because the Crystal Stones were soaked in water, the nearby water bodies were all enriched with a great amount of Evolution Energy.

The fish-people suddenly got excited, took a deep breath, opened their mouths wide, and the surrounding water flowed into their mouths and out through their gills.

Just this simple filtering allowed them to absorb the water’s Evolution Energy into their bodies.

This feeling was like smoking for humans on Earth, making the fish-people excited.

The fish-people took several more breaths, filtering the surrounding water three times, significantly reducing the Evolution Energy in the water.

Still not satisfied, the fish-people said to the golden eels around:

”What are you waiting for? Hurry up and mine for me, dig out all the Crystal Stones inside.”

The golden eels hesitated for a moment and said:

”Master, the rock here is very hard, it’s difficult to mine.”

”Difficult? How hard can it be? If I were to eat you now, would you still find it difficult?”

”Master, please calm down, we’ll mine, we’ll mine.”

And so, a hundred or so golden eels, glowing with golden light and revealing sharp teeth, began to nibble on the hard purple rocks surrounding the Crystal Stones.

Though these golden eels were also creatures at the Enhanced Gene Realm, compared to Yang Xiao and others, they lacked a special tool, the shovel.

Moreover, it was no ordinary shovel.

The shovel Yang Xiao and others normally used was a magical tool specially crafted for mining, made from a rare alloy from Witch Star that was harder than the purple rock.

In addition, the shovel was imbued with powerful Magic, and when Yang Xiao and the others channeled their Genetic Evolution energy into it, it could exert greater strength, which allowed them to move the hard purple rocks.

Even so, Du Tianxing and others, with their King Level Evolver strength, could only work continuously for about half an hour before needing to rest and recover their internal Genetic Energy.

The golden eels showed their mutated sharp teeth, gnawing bit by bit at the purple rocks, and after about half an hour, they managed to dig out a thumb-sized Purple Origin Crystal Stone.

The fish-people, seeing this, excitedly opened their mouth and sucked the Crystal Stone over.

She didn’t swallow the Crystal Stone, but held it in her mouth, so that the water entering her mouth would slowly absorb some of the Crystal Stone’s energy.

Feeling the benefits the Purple Origin Crystal Stone brought to her, the fish-people chuckled strangely and said to the surrounding golden eels:

The Crystal Stones were very hard, harder than those purple rocks, and insoluble in water, but the energy of the Crystal Stones could slowly be released, similar to radioactive substances on Earth, although the direct radiation of energy was very little.

The practice of Ah Bao’s wild tribe, grinding golden ore into powder, was actually to increase the radiation energy of the Crystal Stones.

After a Crystal Stone was ground into powder, having a lot of contact with water sources and the bodies of Mutated Creatures, the energy released was naturally much stronger.

Feeling the benefits the Purple Origin Crystal Stone brought her, the fish-people were overjoyed, chuckled strangely, and said:

”Keep digging, dig for your life, place the dug-out Crystal Stones into this mining pit. The water here will be enriched with Evolution Energy. Hehe, I’ve finally found a shortcut for my Genetic Evolution.”

Seeing some pained expressions on the surrounding golden eels.

The mermaid shouted:

”What are you suffering for? Mining here also allows you to enjoy the Evolution Energy from the Crystal Stones dissolving in the water, accelerating your Evolution. Such a great job opportunity, you should be happy!

Hurry up and mine, or else, I’ll eat you!”
