Super Gene Hunting Ground

David’s heart skipped a beat upon hearing this, and he looked at Yang Xiao.

Despite his admiration for Yang Xiao’s chess skills, David still harbored some wariness towards Yang Xiao’s identity.

In David’s mind, Yang Xiao was not the type of person to live humbly and degradingly; instead, Yang Xiao had a sense of pride in his heart.

Of course, no matter how proud Yang Xiao was, he had to succumb to the harsh reality and the overwhelming power of Witch Star. It was the reality and a rational choice for Yang Xiao.

David looked at Yang Xiao, smiled slightly, and said:

”I don’t know what’s happening on Earth. As for the savages on Purple Origin Planet, in fact, we also had similar suggestions. We do have the Strength to wipe out all Monsters and savages on Purple Origin Planet overnight, but if we do that, this Purple Origin would become a dead planet.”

”Dead planet?”

Yang Xiao was startled.

”Yes, a dead planet. A dead planet without its original species is not a good thing. Our Witch Star has always been at the forefront of Genetic Evolution, and in the vast universe, as far as we know, although we are not the strongest in Genetic Evolution, we are still a first-rate power.”

Yang Xiao was shocked inside,

”Are there forces more powerful than Witch Star?”

David smiled faintly, not answering directly, but continuing:

”Every species has its unique genes. To preserve a species is to preserve a gene. If utilized well, this gene might become a beneficial weapon for us. What we seek is only to control other planets, not to exterminate; if we exterminate all life on a planet, what’s the value of obtaining it afterward? It’s just a rock.”

Saying this, David looked at Yang Xiao with a profound meaning and said:

”Master Yang, you don’t have to worry about us exterminating the human race on Earth.”

This was a dialogue between a powerful and a weaker party, a struggle of consciousness between the controller and the controlled.

What could Yang Xiao do?

He could only show weakness.

Yang Xiao said with a wry smile:

”Station Chief Dai, I no longer consider myself an Earthling, didn’t you help me apply for a temporary Witch Star ID card? Haha...”

”Ah? Haha...”

Both men laughed, and Luo Meng and the others joined in the laughter.

Yang Xiao continued:

”If Station Chief Dai trusts me, I’d like to temporarily reside in the Miner camp. If the savages attack the camp again, I’d like to see if there’s a chance for me to interact with those escaped Miners. After all, I’m from Earth and can communicate with them, then through their help, communicate with the savages, and strive to reach a peace agreement for Station Chief Dai to coexist peacefully with the savages, which also serves as my report back to Station Chief Dai, Captain Luo, and others for their care for me. I wonder if Station Chief Dai would allow this?”

David was stunned, watching Yang Xiao with some surprise and hesitation.

In his mind, Yang Xiao’s greatest value lay in learning his chess skills and serving as his sparring partner to improve his spiritual power. If Yang Xiao went to the Miner camp, David wouldn’t be able to play chess with him every day. What’s worse if Yang Xiao was killed by savages, especially after he had just invested eighty million Crystal Coins on him - wouldn’t that be a total loss?

After thinking it over, David said:

”Master Yang, the Miner camp is too dangerous. Let’s first follow your suggestion: collect Crystal Stones twice in the morning and twice in the afternoon to reduce the stockpile at the Miner camp to the minimum. At the same time, send two Spaceships to patrol back and forth and see what effect this has.”

Naturally, Yang Xiao did not feel it appropriate to insist, and he also had no certainty that he could safely communicate and reach a peace agreement with the savages.

”Sure, that works. I can play chess with Station Chief Dai with peace of mind. If the base or the Miner camp needs me, please don’t hesitate to ask.”

David chuckled:

”Not only is Master Yang’s chess skill superb, but your thoughts are also quite ingenious. If there’s a problem, I definitely can’t avoid consulting you.”

Yang Xiao’s days went on as usual, playing chess, chatting, cultivating the Genetic Transformation Technique, with Leia’s company; he did not feel lonely at all. The two were like a loving couple, making Lucy absolutely envious.

Lucy once said to Leia:

”Leia, all of us sisters are so envious of you now, among so many people, only you are living the good life.”

Leia smiled faintly, feeling very fortunate inside.

Half a month later, the wild people once again robbed a mine. This time, they did not steal much Crystal Stone, and as they were about to retreat, a patrolling Spaceship timely arrived, joining the battle to block the wild people, killing five or six of them.

The wild people fled in panic into the forest.

The forest surrounding the mine was extremely dense. Once the wild people entered the forest, it was like fish entering the sea, incredibly difficult to find.

David, with dozens of guards, did not dare to venture too deep into the forest.

A few days later, there was another incident of robbing a mine. This time, the wild people were intercepted by a patrolling Spaceship again, leaving behind a dozen or so bodies as they escaped.

The wild people had paid a heavy price in casualties twice in a row, but the amount of Crystal Stone they robbed was very little.

David and others were very relieved that Yang Xiao’s two suggestions had taken effect.

Upon hearing this, Yang Xiao felt an indistinct unease.

Yang Xiao approached David,

”Station Chief Dai, I have an uneasy premonition.”

”Oh? What’s troubling Master Yang?”

”About the wild people.”

David chuckled and said:

”After being driven away by us twice in a row, losing more than a dozen people each time, I reckon the wild people won’t dare to come rob us again. What’s your concern?”

”I am worried that the wild people will seek revenge.”

”Revenge?”

”Yes, didn’t you tell me that the wild people once killed Miners to seek revenge? The wild people have failed to obtain the Crystal Stones they wanted in two consecutive robberies and have instead lost dozens of their own. Knowing that we are prepared during the day, they might attack the mine at night to take revenge on us, perhaps by outright killing the Miners.”

Yang Xiao shuddered at the thought of Du Tianxing and others at the mine. No matter what, he did not want to see Du Tianxing, Gu Beifeng, and others dying miserably at the mine; he did not want to lose these compatriots.

Psychologically, if Gu Beifeng, and others were all to die, he would feel like an orphan without companions, even if David, Luo Meng, and others were genuinely good to him. They were, after all, not his kind.

Yang Xiao felt like a dog being raised by David and others. No matter how well-treated he was, deep down, he identified more with being with his compatriots, such as Zhao Benling, Chi Lin, Du Tianxing, and others.

Therefore, when he felt unease, he promptly came to warn David.

Upon hearing this, David fell silent for a moment, then said:

”Your concern is not without reason, but we are unable to bring so many Miners back to the base every night.”

”Can we not send more Spaceships?”

”We only have two Spaceships at the base right now, but there are thousands of Miners. In addition to those who came from Earth last time, there are Miners from other places. With so many Miners, it would take a lot of time for two Spaceships to ferry them every morning and evening. Besides,”

David hesitated, looking at Yang Xiao,

”Master Yang, to be honest with you, it’s very difficult to manage when thousands of Miners are gathered at the base.”

Yang Xiao instantly understood that gathering thousands of Miners together, should they stage a mass riot, would indeed be difficult to manage. David had spread them out across various mines, and the mines were surrounded by forests, home to a multitude of Fierce Beasts. This was actually the safest method.

Even if the Miners might face the danger of being killed, David would not recall them back to the base.

In David’s eyes, the life of a Miner was worthless; they were merely slaves.
