Super Gene Hunting Ground

These golden eels were not large, but they were fast, agile, had high defense, and strong attack power.

Luckily, Du Tianxing, Gu Beifeng, and others were no pushovers. Everyone quickly spread out, each occupying a stretch of the cave 2 to 3 meters long. Once a golden eel slid in front of them, it was met with a fierce slashing.

If it slipped past them, they did not need to worry, as the person below would take care of it.

It was difficult for a golden eel to slip past dozens of defense lines.

In a short while, more than a dozen golden eels were hacked to death by everyone.

Feeling hungry, they started eating them raw.

The flesh of these golden eels was delicious and contained powerful Genetic Evolution Energy, the only downside was the raw taste was a bit fishy.

However, at this time, everyone couldn’t care too much. After a busy night, they were all famished.

Yang Xiao ate one golden eel and took the opportunity to put two into the Black Bottle in his Space Ring.

To keep an eye on the monsters flowing into the cave entrance, Du Tianxing handed a flashlight to Yang Xiao to shine at the water entry.

Then, to his dismay, Yang Xiao discovered that a massive swarm of golden eels was heading their way, at least hundreds.

”Shit,”

”Fuck,”

”MMP”

...

Various curses filled the cave.

A plethora of golden eels slid past everyone. Due to insufficient lighting inside the cave, everyone acted on instinct to kill the eels sliding down.

Someone shouted:

”Yang Xiao, quick, turn off the light. You placed it at the water entrance, the fish outside see the light in the water, naturally drawing them here.”

Listening, Yang Xiao hurriedly handed the flashlight to Du Tianxing behind him.

Just as Yang Xiao was moving the light, he suddenly shone it outside the water entrance and saw a huge eye watching inside the cave from the water.

That eye was much larger than the water entrance.

Yang Xiao, frightened, trembled, and the flashlight dropped into the water.

”What happened, Yang Xiao?”

Du Tianxing asked from behind.

Yang Xiao’s heart was pounding non-stop, and he said it was nothing, just a slip as his hand was wet.

He didn’t know if everyone would still have the courage to rush into the water outside to escape had he told them what he saw, believing that the gigantic fish in the water could swallow him whole.

As time passed, the water in the mining pit had already submerged their knees, and they had killed quite a few small Mutated Creatures like golden eels, eels, and crabs that slid in through the entrance.

Yang Xiao stood at the foremost entrance, witnessing several enormous unknown fishes flash by, their massive size making him very nervous.

”When do we rush out?” Gu Beifeng ran up and asked.

”What’s the water level in the mining pit?”

”About half a meter, it’s past our knees.”

”I remember the mining cave is more than 2 meters high; there’s no rush yet, let the water flow for a while.”

Beside him, Du Tianxing was stunned and asked:

”Yang Xiao, we’re not going out now, what are we waiting for?”

Yang Xiao said:

”Think about it, is there a possibility that our cave entrance is right at the bottom of this pond? What are the chances?”

”We’re not that unlucky, are we?” Du Tianxing laughed.

”Hard to say, aren’t we unlucky enough?” Gu Beifeng laughed.

Yang Xiao then said:

”Actually, according to probability, the chances that our cave entrance is right at the bottom of the pond are extremely low, which raises a question. What if our entrance is at the edge of the pond?”

The two were stunned,

”What exactly are you trying to say?” Yang Xiao sighed and said:

”I won’t hide it from you; only small fry slipped in through the entrance. I shone the light for a moment and saw several huge Yu’er swimming by. I’m worried if we run out now, those giant monsters might eat us.

If we let the water flow a bit more, as the water level lowers, those big fish should move to deeper waters, maybe then we can avoid some dangers.”

Both of them listened and felt that there was some truth to it.

”Just how long do we have to wait?”

”Let’s wait. Once the water in the mine surpasses about one and a half meters, we’ll assess the situation again. Perhaps by then, it might truly be possible to drain the pond, who knows?”

”That’s impossible, that pond is vast, the water inside it definitely can’t be drained by this three or four hundred meter long mine shaft, not even ten of these mines could drain it.”

Feng Ming, who was in charge of designing the escape route, suddenly said loudly from behind.

Yang Xiao: ”@#￥%”

Feng Ming continued:

”The area of that pond is vast, also, under normal light conditions, you can see light one meter underwater. Can you see a hazy white light when you look up from that water outlet?”

Feng Ming’s words made Yang Xiao feel a wave of despair, knowing that looking from the water inlet outward, it was pitch black with no light.

”No light, pitch black.”

Du Tianxing said.

”If that’s the case, we are at least five meters underwater, maybe even ten.”

Yang Xiao realized that Feng Ming had cornered him with no way to escape.

”Alright, since it’s like this, we can only take a gamble now. It should be around ten in the morning now, Luo Meng and others might have arrived too, let’s wait until noon. If there’s no digging action from Luo Meng and others, then let’s prepare to escape, everyone take a good rest first.”

Gu Beifeng said:

”I’ll go down into the mine shaft and check.”

After two hours, the water level in the mine shaft had risen quite a bit.

”Yang Xiao, it’s past noon now, don’t hesitate anymore, let’s go.”

”Alright, everyone get ready, I’m using the sword to open the entrance, before everyone enters the water, take a deep breath, and after entering the water swiftly float upward, hoping that all of us will survive.”

After saying that, Yang Xiao pulled out the Bronze Divine Sword and slowly enlarged the opening above.

The opening became bigger and bigger, the water flow faster and faster, and the impact stronger and stronger.

The opening was now about half a meter, the water flow inside the cave was already very strong, making it hard for everyone crouching inside.

Yang Xiao stood at the water inlet, first extending his hand outside the hole, feeling a strong force pressing down on his hand, requiring a lot of strength to break through that downward suction.

Yang Xiao took a deep breath and kicked with his legs, his body radiating light, like an arrow released from its bow, rushing towards the opening.

Boom!

Yang Xiao entering the water felt an extremely strong resistance preventing him from floating up.

He kicked again on the stones of the opening with his legs, only then barely entering the pond.

Yang Xiao knew, at this moment he needed to give himself some power to accelerate upward floating.

With palms open, he ferociously struck the water with one palm, employing the Shaolin Dragon Subduing and Elephant Taming Divine Skill,

Boom!

A strong power burst from his palms, faintly audible were the sounds of dragons soaring and elephants roaring in the water, his body immediately received a rebound force accelerating upward to the water surface.

Moments later, Yang Xiao felt suffocated, desperately needing to breathe.

He kicked again, once more employing the Dragon Subduing and Elephant Taming Divine Skill, his body again gaining accelerating power to float upwards.

In the water, the harder he exerted, the faster the circulation of blood through his body, consuming more oxygen.

Yang Xiao, after these two maneuvers, immediately felt almost suffocated.

Enduring the pain, he used his last strength to float upward.

Finally, Yang Xiao saw light, his heart excited.

He knew, he was only about five meters from the water surface.

He grit his teeth, exerted force again.

”Glub,”

He couldn’t hold it anymore, instinctively opened his mouth, and swallowed a gulp of water.

Just then, his whole body finally floated above the water surface.

”Ah! Ah! Ah!”

Yang Xiao gasped heavily,

Looking around, dazedly discovered, they were indeed right at the center of the pond, at least five to six hundred meters away from the shore.

”Damn, today is really the epitome of bad luck! All the extreme things are happening to us.”

Before he had time to take a breath, he suddenly felt something bite his foot, dragging his body downward.

”Glub” - Yang Xiao’s whole body was pulled into the water.
