Super Gene Hunting Ground

Some giant fish leaped out of the water in an instant, measuring dozens of meters in length, leaving Yang Xiao and the others astonished.

Yang Xiao watched the fierce battle in the pool and had a flash of inspiration, saying:

”We shouldn’t go back to the mining camp just yet. Let’s find a relatively safe place to hide and stay the night. We can return to the camp tomorrow.”

”Yang Xiao, why?”

”If we go back now, the monitoring equipment at the mining camp will immediately see us, and David and the others will come to rescue us right away.”

”Wouldn’t that be better?”

”Then how do we explain to David how we escaped?”

”We could say that we dug an escape tunnel that reached the edge of this pool, couldn’t we?”

”Do you think we could dig that far overnight?” Yang Xiao countered.

”Ah?”

Upon hearing this, everyone was stunned.

Yang Xiao continued:

”If we tell David now that we were trapped under the mine by savages and we figured out a way to dig a tunnel to survive, he might believe it,

but if you ask him to believe that we dug a hundred-meter tunnel overnight, would he believe that?”

Everyone nodded in agreement.

”We have already escaped, so we need to think about the future, and not let the hardships we have endured be for nothing.

If we tell David after five or six days that we escaped by digging a tunnel, he will not suspect us of having prepared the tunnel in advance, and he will be moved by our tenacious struggle against death, and he will praise us highly.

In the future, if we can get temporary identification and be recommended to work in logistics or other jobs at the base, David would be very willing.”

Du Tianxing nodded his head,

”That’s the reason. We can’t let David suspect that we had prepared to dig a tunnel to escape, or else today’s sufferings would have been in vain.”

Everyone nodded in agreement.

”There are mountains and forests nearby, let’s look for a relatively safe place. Hopefully, we can spend two or three days there safely.”

So, they wandered around in the forests near the pool.

On a sheer cliff face, a large rock protruded out.

Yang Xiao pointed at the large rock hanging in mid-air and said:

”We’ll stay and rest up there for the next few nights.”

”Why?”

Chi Lin asked, puzzled.

Yang Xiao, with his experience of spending nights in the forests of Shenlongjia Mountain, immediately said:

”This is a sheer cliff with no fierce beasts in the middle to hunt, and typically, monsters can’t climb up there. Spending the night there should be much safer, and there’s no need to worry about attacks from fierce beasts at night.”

After saying that, Yang Xiao leaped up and flew toward the cliff in mid-air, covering about twenty meters before pushing off a protruding rock on the cliff with his toes, and then flying up another twenty meters. After doing this three times, Yang Xiao landed on that large rock.

The rest of the people immediately used their Floating Flight Skill to fly up.

Moments later, everyone had reached the cliffside boulder. The boulder was hundreds of square meters in size, large enough for everyone to rest. As the boulder jutted out from the middle of the cliff face, the same cliff face was above it, blocking many large crawling animals from approaching.

”Let’s check carefully around the stone first to see if there are any ants or other insects that might bite us. It would be very uncomfortable to get bitten.”

After searching, they laughed:

”There’s not a single blade of grass!”

”What do we eat for dinner?”

”That’s simple. There are so many fish near the pool; we can just pick up a dead fish, grill it, and enjoy.”

”Good idea, I like it.”

Everyone rested for a while on the cliffside boulder, then flew down to the base of the mountain. Gu Beifeng led six people to gather branches nearby to start a fire, while Yang Xiao took a few people to the poolside.

The skirmish in the pool was still intense. The group found two giant fish, each ten meters long and barely alive, scooped them up, and brought them back to the bottom of the cliff.

Everyone started a bonfire, took out their swords, cut the fish into chunks, and placed them over the fire to grill.

Yang Xiao remembered the salt and chili peppers he carried with him, took them out, and sprinkled them on the grilled fish, making them exceptionally delicious.

Everyone here can use the flesh and blood of Mutated Creatures to boost the energy for Genetic Evolution; two ten-meter-long giant fish were quickly dealt with by everyone.

Besides initially roasting them to eat, later on we simply ate the giant fish raw, just like eating sushi, and the taste was quite fresh and sweet.

”If only we had wasabi and soy sauce.”

”Damn, I didn’t bring any of that stuff, and besides, there wouldn’t be enough to go around for all of you.”

Yang Xiao said with a laugh.

After everyone finished eating the fish, they all felt very satisfied.

”Throw the fish skeletons into the pond, so we don’t attract any Monster attracted to the smell at night.”

Everyone tossed the fish skeletons into the pond, and then returned to warm up around the campfire, drying off their damp clothes.

Seeing that it was getting late, everyone flew up early to rest on the giant boulders at the cliff.

The giant rock had been warmed by the sun during the day, and lying on it felt quite comfortable.

”Let’s sleep now so we’ll have energy at night; how about we designate two people to stand watch?”

Chi Lin and Lao Jiu stepped forward to take the night watch, so Yang Xiao and the others lay on the rocks and slept soundly.

After an unknown amount of time, everyone was awoken by the roar of a Fierce Beast, reflexively scrambling up from the rock.

Chi Lin, who was on duty, said with a laugh:

”Don’t panic, it’s not a big deal, the boulders are far away.”

After waking up, everyone felt refreshed, and Chi Lin and Lao Jiu lay down to rest.

”Yang Xiao, you’ve picked a good spot, it’s safe, and we can also stargaze.”

Du Tianxing said with a smile.

Everyone looked up and realized that the sky above was filled with dazzling stars. Compared to Earth, the stars here were much larger, with most the size of a fist, twinkling like translucent gemstones hanging in the sky, incredibly beautiful.

”So beautiful!”

Someone exclaimed.

”Why can’t I see the moon?”

”Are you out of your mind? The moon orbits Earth, and this isn’t Earth.”

Everyone burst into laughter.

From the distant forests came the continuous roars of Monsters, along with the sounds of fierce fighting.

Yang Xiao and others chatted and stargazed, undisturbed.

”I feel like all we’re missing now is a woman; if we had a woman to stargaze with, it would be perfect!”

This was said by Feng Ming.

As soon as he finished speaking, he was beaten up by everyone and almost pushed off the cliff.

”Damn it, you admit you’re a single dog, yet you insist on tormenting us with your fantasies.”

Everyone laughed.

The night passed without incident, and by four or five in the morning, the sky began to brighten.

The roaring of Monsters in the nearby forests had quieted down, and the battles had stopped.

Most wild beasts are active at night and rest during the day.

Yang Xiao thought that this might be the dividing line between the worlds of humans and animals.

You rule the darkness; I occupy the light.

On watch with Yang Xiao now was Du Tianxing.

”Stay here, don’t move; I’ll go buy you some oranges.”

”Get lost!”

Du Tianxing cursed him jokingly.

Yang Xiao leapt down from the cliff and ran towards the distant pond.

When he was about a hundred meters away from the pond, from mid-air, Yang Xiao saw the pond turn into a white patch and felt a surge of excitement.

”Damn, I finally waited for this moment.”

(Got up at 4 am to write, hehe, wrote two chapters, going to sleep now.)
