Super Gene Hunting Ground

The spectators surrounding the game closed their eyes as they saw Luo Meng place that white piece.

”It’s over, the brothers Yuri and You Jue are destined to lose.”

Finally unable to withstand the immense pressure, Yuri and You Jue mentally collapsed and fell to the ground together.

Instantly the hall erupted into chaos as everyone rushed to help the two up from the ground, each feeding them a Small Blood Pill.

Luo Meng sat in front of the chessboard with a wave of his right hand, a Defense Light Screen enveloped the entire board, ensuring the pieces could not be disturbed amidst the chaos.

After a short while,

Yuri regained consciousness and You Jue also stood up.

Both their faces were ashen and they trembled all over. They glanced at the chess game, and then at Luo Meng, who sat there composed before the board, before turning their gaze to the station master, David.

David sighed and said,

”The game isn’t over yet. I’ve been watching the whole time, and Luo Meng used the Defense Light Screen to cover the board, no one has touched the pieces. Yuri, continue and finish the game.”

Hearing David’s words, the brothers Yuri and You Jue felt truly desperate.

David had no thoughts of favoring either side, only caring about the result of the bet. Who wins, who loses, how the bet was made—beyond that, everything else was of no concern to him.

Everyone knew of David’s stern impartiality.

Yuri took a deep breath and sat listlessly in front of the chessboard.

Luo Meng smiled slightly, stretching out his hand to dispel the Defense Light Screen from the board, he said:

”Yuri, don’t rush, winning and losing is common in games, don’t get agitated, take it easy, slowly.”

Yuri glanced at Luo Meng and pleaded in a low voice,

”Captain Luo, I was wrong, please spare me this once.”

”Yuri, don’t say that, the game isn’t over yet, the outcome is not decided, come on.”

With no options left, Yuri knew the game was lost but still braced himself to continue playing.

Luo Meng did not show any mistakes through to the end of the game.

Finally, Yuri gave up in despair,

”I lost!”

The entire venue was silent as the grave.

Everyone sighed and left quietly.

After all, they were all acquaintances, no one wanted to stand there as witnesses to either side, to avoid awkwardness.

In the end, only station master David, Luo Meng, Yuri, and You Jue were left in the hall.

David spoke indifferently,

”As the witness of your bet, I declare that Yuri has lost, and Luo Meng has won.”

Yuri and You Jue looked as if their faces were covered in ashes.

”As part of the bet, You Jue should compensate Luo Meng with one billion Crystal Coins.”

”Thump!”

You Jue knelt in front of David, begging,

”Station Master, I know I was wrong, I am willing to accept the loss, but I really can’t come up with so many Crystal Coins.”

Yuri also knelt down.

”That’s your problem, since you initiated this bet, you should accept the loss willingly.”

”Me?”

”Station Master, please spare me!”

David’s face bore a frosty look as he coldly said,

”If you’re really begging for mercy, you should be asking Luo Meng, not me, I am just a witness.”

You Jue and Yuri immediately knelt before Luo Meng, begging,

”Captain Luo, Brother Luo, we were wrong, we’re sorry, please spare us!”

Luo Meng was in a very good mood, but still he suppressed his excitement and pride, and said indifferently,

”This doesn’t seem right, does it? You two were full of bold vows when making the bet, but now that you’ve lost, you’re playing the poor and dishonest card. This really tarnishes the grand image I had of you two in my heart!”

Yuri and You Jue hung their heads in silence, enduring Luo Meng’s ridicule.

”I just want to ask one thing. If I had lost, would you have let me off the hook?”

Hearing this, Yuri and You Jue felt even more ashamed.

You Jue pleaded:

”Brother Luo, you know the situation of our family. Over the years, to break through to the Emperor Level Evolution Stage, we’ve exhausted a great amount of wealth. I really can’t come up with so many Crystal Coins, I couldn’t even if I bankrupted my family!”

”If you can’t pay, why did you set up a bet of one hundred million Crystal Coins? Even if your family can’t pay, when your two families put their resources together and sell everything, it should be almost enough.”

”Ah?”

Yuri and You Jue collapsed to the ground, looking at Luo Meng in despair.

Because of greed, a moment’s mistake led to the loss of both families’ fortunes, which was devastating to them.

David, standing to the side, glanced at Yuri and said coldly:

”Yuri, from beginning to end, this was all your fault. It’s good for a young person to aspire for success, but you shouldn’t scheme against your superior. If one day you became my deputy, would you scheme against me too?”

”Absolutely not, absolutely not.”

Yuri immediately straightened up and kowtowed to David.

David glanced at the kneeling You Jue and Yuri. Both were young men, just the kind of talent the base needed, and he didn’t want things to get too stiff.

”How about this, Luo Meng, I’ll play the peacemaker. Yuri and You Jue together will compensate you with fifty million Crystal Coins, how about that?”

Luo Meng let out a chuckle,

”If the Station Head has spoken, what can I say?”

”Of course, Yuri will be temporarily transferred from your team to work under You Jue’s direction, and I’ll reserve your Captain position for five years, with only promotions and no demotions, how’s that?”

Upon hearing this, Luo Meng immediately said joyfully:

”Station Head, can you really do that?”

David’s expression turned stern, and he cleared his throat softly,

”I am the Station Head, what do you think?”

”Haha, then many thanks, Station Head!”

Having said that, Luo Meng turned to You Jue and asked:

”You Jue, when are you going to pay me the fifty million Crystal Coins?”

”I only have twenty million on hand, and Yuri has ten million here. We’ll give you thirty million now, and we’ll figure out the rest. We’ll try to gather the other twenty million within half a year, is that okay?”

”Alright, then give me the thirty million now.”

The two reluctantly took out their respective Black Crystal Cards and transferred thirty million to Luo Meng using the portable transfer device in the hall.

For them, it was an agonizing loss; it was a sum they had been saving for a while, intending to use it to enhance Genetic Evolution.

Their monthly salary was five million Crystal Coins, which might seem like a lot, but for them, most of the Crystal Coins had to be spent on Genetic Evolution.

If you don’t enhance your Evolution Level while those around you do, you’ll eventually fall behind.

In other words, their salary was basically impossible to save up; it had to be constantly invested into the endless pit of Genetic Evolution.

Luo Meng put the Black Crystal Card into his Space Ring, chuckled, and said:

”Don’t forget about the remaining twenty million.”

After saying this, he turned and left.

Reaching the door, Luo Meng suddenly stopped, turned around, and said:

”Yuri, in the future, you can challenge You Jue. I wish you luck in taking over his Captain position, haha!”

The Yuri brothers were at a loss for words.

The bet they had engineered themselves, originally thought to be an attack on Luo Meng, had backfired terribly and left them utterly defeated.

Suddenly, Yuri remembered something and stood up to speak to David:

”Station Head, I want to report Luo Meng. He has been secretly hiding a human Go master!”
