Super Gene Hunting Ground

Yang Xiao lay in the cave, closed his eyes, utterly disheartened.

Seconds ticked by,

and in the cave, coughs echoed one after another,

these helpless and desperate coughs made the atmosphere even more oppressive.

The smell of smoke inside the cave grew stronger.

”Drip!”

A drop of some liquid fell onto Yang Xiao’s face.

Yang Xiao didn’t care.

”Drip!”

Another drop fell onto his face.

”Drip!”

Yet another drop, with shorter intervals between each.

”What the heck is this?”

Yang Xiao wondered inwardly, wiped the liquid on his face with his hand, and sniffed it. It was faint, mixed with the earthy stench of soil.

Yang Xiao strenuously took a flashlight from Chi Lin and shone it above his head.

They had just excavated this spot, where the rock was purple.

However, under the illumination of Yang Xiao’s flashlight, the purple rock gleamed crystalline.

Yang Xiao raised his hand and touched it.

”Water?”

Yang Xiao was shocked and immediately shouted loudly:

”Old Nine, Old Nine, come here.”

Old Nine was not far behind Yang Xiao. Hearing his shout, he opened his eyes,

”Cough, cough, Yang Xiao, what’s wrong?”

”Come over and see, why is there water above this cave? You studied geology, come and see what’s the situation.”

Old Nine didn’t move, lying on the ground, he weakly said:

”What’s so strange about water? It means there’s a pond or something above the rocks, and the water is seeping through,”

Old Nine was suddenly alarmed, sat up straight,

”Water? Did you say something? Is there water?”

”Yes, there’s water, lots of water on the rock wall, more and more, it’s all flowing onto me now.”

Yang Xiao replied.

Beside them, Feng Ming suddenly sat up straight, slapped his head, and shouted:

”We are saved, we are saved, we are saved!”

Feng Ming’s shout, like a spring thunder exploding, woke everyone up in the cave,

A fierce desire to survive suddenly rose in everyone’s heart.

”What’s going on?”

”Tell us!”

”What exactly happened?”

...

”Everyone quiet, let’s listen to Feng Ming,”

Yang Xiao shouted forcefully.

Feng Ming coughed twice and said:

”When originally designing the escape route, I used rest times to stroll around the minefields. There was a pond near the minefield,

I designed the tunnel to emerge above ground before reaching the pond. Now it seems, the angle of the tunnel is off, it got extended, we must be under the pond now, that’s why water is seeping out.”

Beside them, Old Nine, who studied geology, eyes lit up and said:

”This means that there is water above our heads. According to my geological knowledge, the distance from the rock layer to the muddy layer of the pond must not be more than one meter, perhaps even just several tens of centimeters, which is why the water could seep into the crevices of the rock layer and flow down.”

Old Nine’s words were like a torch illuminating the night, exciting everyone all at once.

Du Tianxing said:

”We are all very tired now, how do we dig out, even if we break through, how deep is the water above? Can we swim out?”

”Could there be large mutated fish in the water?”

”That pond isn’t particularly big, there shouldn’t be any large mutated fish, but maybe smaller ones.”

...

Suddenly, Yang Xiao remembered the Small Blood Pill, took one out from the bottle, put it into his mouth, a warm flow entered his body, and he felt much more spirited.

”Everyone take two Small Blood Pills. We must put in our final effort. Since there is hope for escape, we cannot give up.”

After Yang Xiao finished speaking, he took the longsword in his hand and forcefully stabbed it into the rock layer above his head, then pulled out the sword.

”Whoosh!”

A loud, intense sound,

A strong stream of water sprayed into the cave.

Everyone had taken the Small Blood Pills, and their spirits were much improved. Seeing Yang Xiao piercing the rock with his sword and water shooting in, they were all excited, indicating that the rock layer above was very thin.

”Yang Xiao, are we saved?”

”Should there be hope now?”

”Yay, we’re saved!”

Everyone hugged, shouted, and cheered excitedly.

Water continued to spray down, the water flowed along the cave floor downward, and the air in the cave immediately became more humid, and the coughing didn’t feel as strong.

Yang Xiao did not continue digging into the rock layer above, instead he said loudly:

”Everyone, think quickly. What would happen if I dig open the rock above? How would we escape? You are all university students, educated people, this is the time to use your knowledge, don’t tell me you’ve learned nothing in college other than chasing girls, reading novels, and playing games.”

Someone immediately responded:

”Yang Xiao, if the rock above is dug open, it will create intense water flow with great pressure.”

”We are likely to be washed away.”

”If the cave gets filled with water, we’ll drown in here.”

”There’s one advantage, stab the rock above a few more times to slightly increase the water flow. This way, the fire below can be extinguished, and without the smoke, we can survive longer.

Water flows downward; as long as it isn’t sudden, our cave won’t fill up with water. The water flowing downward will fill the mine shaft first, and only when the mine shaft is full will the water rise here.”

...

Everyone began to brainstorm based on their life experiences and professional knowledge, putting forth many suggestions.

One of them was correct, that is, water can extinguish the fire below.

Yang Xiao picked up his sword and stabbed two more holes, the water flow became larger, rushing down along the cave floor.

”Gu Beifeng, hurry go down, start dismantling the rock pile below so the water can flow there, and at the same time let the air circulate up.”

Upon hearing this, Gu Beifeng immediately slid down the cave wall.

Because there was water on the floor of the cave, he slid down quickly.

When Gu Beifeng slid to the rock pile, there was already a small amount of water accumulated there, blocked off, so the water could only flow down through the cracks in the rocks.

Gu Beifeng pried several large rocks stuck inside the cave, and stepped on them.

The water and rocks rattled as they rolled downward.

...

Ah Bao and others were desperately making fire.

Honestly, the air inside the mine was very bad as well, everyone was continuously coughing, but it was still tolerable, not as bad as the small cave where Yang Xiao was.

”Who the hell came up with this bad idea, are we smoking Earth pigs or ourselves?”

”I feel like we’re going to smoke ourselves to death before we manage to smoke out the Earth pigs, cough cough cough...”

”Guess what, I reckon they’ve already been smoked to death in there.”

”Ha, ha, ha, we’ve been busy all night and feels like we’ve done nothing!”

...

Inside the mine, the primitive people complained non-stop, and Tanaka Jiao, standing aside, looked embarrassed, shifting unconsciously into the darkness. At this moment, he didn’t want to be everyone’s punching bag.

Ah Bao and a few others were closest to the fire-making spot, coughing relentlessly, ash-faced, and in a sorry state.

But they had to constantly keep the Wind Element Technique going to push the thick smoke into the cave. As soon as they stopped, the smoke would backflow.

”Ha, ha, ha, what a bloody bad day, whose doggone idea was it to attack this mine?”

”It was that surrendered Miner, Tanaka Jiao.”

”Where is he? Call him over here to inhale some of this thick smoke with us, haha, he sure is taking it easy, hiding somewhere else.”

Standing in the dark, Tanaka Jiao was suddenly grabbed by one of the primitive people and pulled directly into the mine.

”Oh my, primitive brother? What’s the matter?”

Tanaka Jiao was terrified inside.

These primitive people were capricious, their Evolution Level far exceeded his, he was truly frightened.

Tanaka Jiao was pushed directly into the cave, immediately erupting into severe coughing.

He saw Ah Bao and the other primitive men, ash-faced, and in a wretched state, wanting to laugh, yet he dared not and had to hold it back.

”Chief Ah Bao, did you call for me? Cough, cough, cough.”

”Ha ha ha, you doggone Earth pig, what brilliant idea did you come up with—use Fire Attack for tunnel warfare? Up to now, we haven’t smoked anyone out, what a damn use is that? If you can’t smoke them out, I’ll burn you in the cave!”
