Super Gene Hunting Ground

David, as the base station manager, certainly enjoyed certain privileges.

This was evident from the quality of his breakfast.

Yang Xiao’s usual breakfast consisted of a pancake, a piece of meat, and a cup of juice, but David’s breakfast spread featured six or seven varieties of food.

”This Thunderbird Egg is quite rare, coming from an Emperor Level Thunderbird, delicious in taste. Try one.”

David personally handed a Thunderbird Egg to Yang Xiao.

Thunderbirds are rare birds, especially the high-level ones. Even though it might be easy to kill a Thunderbird, obtaining its eggs is not, so this delicacy wouldn’t appear in the likes of Luo Meng’s menu.

Initially, two Thunderbird Eggs were prepared for David’s breakfast. After giving one to Yang Xiao and taking one himself, Luo Meng could only salivate in envy.

Fortunately, there was no shortage of other foods, with five or six varieties, enough for three people to enjoy.

The Thunderbird Egg was as large as a watermelon, with lightning patterns on its shell.

Yang Xiao was seeing it for the first time and found it quite novel.

Holding the Thunderbird Egg with both hands, he tapped it against the table, and with a ”crack,” the wooden table was dented, leaving two cracks.

Damn it, was this Thunderbird Egg so tough?

David smiled and gave a demonstration, holding the Thunderbird Egg in his left hand and lightly flicking it several times with the index finger of his right hand, a ”crackle, crackle” of crisp cracking sounds followed.

Soon after, David peeled off the 2-centimeter-thick, hard shell, revealing the glistening inner egg.

”This Thunderbird Egg has been cooked already, thoroughly done, tastes great.”

David said, taking a bite.

Yang Xiao imitated David, supporting the watermelon-sized Thunderbird Egg with his left hand and using Shaolin Nianhua Finger with his right to lightly tap dozens of times on the shell, then gently slapped it with his palm.

With a ”crack,” the entire shell burst open, revealing the sparkling inner egg.

This technique piqued the interest of both David and Luo Meng.

Taking a bite, Yang Xiao found the flavor smooth and fresh, and felt a strong surge of electricity rushing into his body.

It was indeed a delicacy.

Most of the food on the table contained Genetic Evolution Energy and was full of an electric sensation.

For David and Luo Meng, they didn’t care much about the Evolution Energy contained in the food, as it didn’t mean much for their current levels.

But for Yang Xiao, it was significant.

It was a rare opportunity, and Yang Xiao didn’t care about his unseemly eating manner. He wolfed down the food, consuming nearly half of what was on the table and praising as he ate:

”Good, delicious, really nice, I’ve never tasted such wonderful food, it’s incredibly delicious... Station Manager, Captain Luo, I apologize if my eating manners have embarrassed you, haha.”

David watched Yang Xiao’s voracious eating and naturally knew he wanted to gather the Evolution Energy from the food, finding it amusing yet appreciating Yang Xiao’s genuine nature.

A sincere person is always easier to get along with and more acceptable than a hypocrite.

After eating the Thunderbird Egg and a few pastries, David stopped eating.

Luo Meng did the same, setting down his fork after a few bites.

They both watched Yang Xiao eating.

Yang Xiao, completely unconcerned with their amused expressions, devoured the food on the table, leaving nothing behind. His stomach was a bottomless pit meat grinder, capable of consuming even tens of times more food without issue.

After the meal, David asked Luo Meng to go to the mining field to organize work.

Since Yuri lost the bet yesterday, from today on, he would no longer assist in managing the three mining areas under Luo Meng, who needed to arrange the workload temporarily.

After Luo Meng left, David said to Yang Xiao:

”Shall we play another game?”

Yang Xiao was startled, then smiled:

”Of course, as you command, Station Manager.”

Considering that Yang Xiao’s spiritual power wasn’t strong enough, David didn’t use his Heavenly Jade Go set, but instead took out a set of ordinary Go used for everyday play from his room.

The two players took their seats and began the fierce battle.

An hour later, Yang Xiao defeated David with an advantage of five stones.

David paused, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and said:

”Master Yang is indeed skilled at the game. Shall we rest for a bit before the next round?”

Yang Xiao smiled,

”Sure.”

After this round, Yang Xiao won by ten stones.

David felt a sudden sinking feeling in his heart and looked at Yang Xiao in surprise.

Today, after three rounds, he lost three stones in the first round, five in the second, and ten in the third.

He originally thought he could win a round back and save some face, but he didn’t expect to lose more miserably each time.

David had always been the top Go player at the base, but now he was suddenly defeated by Yang Xiao, a miner, which made him feel somewhat humiliated inside.

He and Luo Meng were different; Luo Meng’s Go skills were naturally inferior, so being defeated by Yang Xiao didn’t feel embarrassing, instead, it felt like an opportunity to learn.

Although David was also there to learn, he had also come with the intent to challenge.

After all, he was the boss of the base and had previously been the base’s number one Go player. Now, being defeated by Yang Xiao in three consecutive rounds, and each more disastrous than the last, this made him feel awful inside.

”Let’s play another round.”

David looked at Yang Xiao with a complex gaze, gritting his teeth.

Yang Xiao smiled faintly and nodded his head.

However, this round was even worse. The game had only progressed to one-third when Yang Xiao suddenly launched an attack, one wave after another, consecutively capturing six of his stones and disrupting his original formation.

”Buzz!”

David’s mind vibrated, his heartbeat accelerated, his blood rushed to his head, and the tremendous pressure flooded in like a tide, overwhelming him almost completely, creating a suffocating feeling.

David took a deep breath, tried to stabilize his Divine Sense, mobilized his spiritual power, and launched a fierce offense, hoping to withstand Yang Xiao’s attacks.

Little did he know that Yang Xiao would show no mercy this time around, capturing one stone after another, leaving David trembling in fear and staring in disbelief.

Large beads of sweat rolled down David’s forehead.

Yang Xiao did not give David any chance to catch his breath, and with several brilliant moves, cut off a large number of David’s stones.

”I won’t stop until I make you kneel and lick defeat!”

By the middle of the game, the outcome was almost certain.

David was sweating profusely, his Divine Sense fluctuating violently. After struggling to gather it a few times, it finally collapsed.

In Go, one’s Divine Sense melds with the game, and as one’s game steadily heads towards disaster, their spiritual power gets continuously consumed, even leading to eventual collapse.

The blow of defeat is cruel!

Go may seem to consist only of 361 black and white stones, but in reality, the black and white world of the board is a brutal war, a battle of life and death.

”Sigh!”

David let out a long breath,

”I lost!”

After speaking, he collapsed weakly back into his chair.

Yang Xiao said indifferently:

”If I’m not mistaken, the station manager’s Go skills have not improved for many years, right?”

David was startled, his body suddenly sat up straight, and he looked at Yang Xiao:

”Master Yang, how did you know?”

(End of three updates, stayed up too late last night, not feeling well today, too sleepy, forcing myself to write doesn’t look good, so it’s only three updates today, I’ll aim for two additional ones tomorrow.)
