Super Gene Hunting Ground

Everyone followed Yang Xiao to the escape cave beneath and gathered together.

As they thought about the limited air inside the mine, although it wouldn’t run out momentarily, it was hard to say what would happen in a few hours.

Everyone was exceptionally tense, unlike feeling calmly resigned to death in the cave; now, it seemed as though they could die at any second. Their heartbeats quickened, adrenal glands worked overtime, and they were highly strung.

Yang Xiao addressed everyone:

”The only escape method now is to surface through the pool above. Any suggestions?”

Someone immediately said:

”The entrance is too small.”

”Nonsense, I’ll obviously make the entrance bigger.”

”The water pressure will be immense, it will be difficult to squeeze through that small opening.”

”With our current strength from Genetic Evolution, can’t we withstand the water pressure?”

”It’s not that simple. If we were on land, our strength would indeed be formidable, but in the water, apart from initially using the rocky entrance to push off, there are not many places in the water to leverage. Also, do you all know how to swim?”

”Even if we get through the entrance, how long do we need to hold our breath before we surface? Our Genetic Evolution hasn’t improved our ability to hold breath, has it?”

”Typically about twenty to thirty seconds.”

”Holding our breath is the biggest problem; we don’t know how deep the water in the pool is. If we can’t surface before we run out of breath, that would be terrible.”

”Also, are there any monsters in the pool?”

”Yes, we can’t ignore the issue with water monsters. Just as we enter the pool, we might get attacked by a water monster and then it’s game over, right?”

”Are you all that useless? We all are King Level Evolvers, and you can’t even handle a monster fish?”

”This shouldn’t be taken lightly. The Monster Level on this planet is very high. If the pool is filled with King Level Evolution fish, a group of them could easily make us their breakfast.”

...

The discussion among them heated up.

Finally, Gu Beifeng and Du Tianxing said:

”Yang Xiao, you decide; we trust your judgment.”

Yang Xiao bitterly smiled:

”I don’t know much more than everyone else, but one thing’s certain—sitting in this mine is waiting to die. Trying to swim out through the pool, there might be a chance to live.”

Everyone nodded.

”Let’s not say anything more, let’s first climb to the top of the cave.”

The group went into the cave one by one, climbing up the slippery cave walls to the top, where Yang Xiao took out the Bronze Divine Sword and cut a large hole at the top of the cave.

The water flow above suddenly increased, rushing down loudly.

Holding the sword, Yang Xiao was about to make the entrance even bigger when Du Tianxing shouted:

”Yang Xiao, don’t make it too big, or we’ll all get washed away.”

Yang Xiao had to stop,

”The entrance is too small; if we don’t make it bigger, it’ll be difficult to get out.”

A master’s graduate in physics suggested from behind:

”I have a suggestion.”

”Speak,”

”As the mine slowly fills with water, the air pressure inside will increase. When the water gradually backfills into this cave, the air pressure inside will already be very high. At that point, the impact of entering the water through the entrance will be much reduced, and getting out through the entrance will be the easiest.”

Gu Beifeng said:

”In theory, that’s the case, but if we wait until water backfills this escape tunnel, and all dozen of us haven’t managed to crawl through, we’ll be drowned here. So, we must crawl out ahead of time to ensure we have enough time.”

”Let’s do this: there is enough oxygen in the mine for one day, we can wait a bit. I’m guessing Luo Meng and others will arrive soon, maybe they’ll have another way to save us.”

Everyone unanimously agrees to try draining the water for two hours to see how it goes.

...

Luo Meng left the base and took a spaceship, first visiting two other mining sites before arriving at the mining site where Yang Xiao and others were.

”Not good, something abnormal happened at the mine, one of the mine shafts seems to have collapsed, creating a pit forty to fifty meters in diameter.”

The spaceship hadn’t even landed yet when someone in the cockpit saw the situation at the mine through the spaceship’s window and urgently reported it to the dozen or so people on board.

Luo Meng’s heart sank and he immediately said:

”Don’t land yet. Circle around the mine first to see what’s happening.”

Recently, wild people attacking the mining site had been a frequent occurrence. There were several of them now; they couldn’t afford to be surrounded by the wild people.

The spaceship circled around the mine once and then hovered above the large pit of the mine shaft.

Luo Meng could clearly see the big pit through the display screen on the spaceship.

”Damn, Yang Xiao came here yesterday.”

Luo Meng felt panicked and shouted:

”Find a place to land. Why didn’t the surveillance equipment at the base show this place being attacked by wild people yesterday?”

Around the mine, there are spherical devices every few dozen meters on the ground, which are disguised surveillance equipment. Last time when the people from Ice Wolf Island escaped in the middle of night, it was these surveillance devices that raised the alarm.

”Captain Luo, look, those surveillance devices are all covered with huge leaves,” said a man in a black cloak, pointing at the surveillance screen.

Luo Meng and his team descended from the spaceship and went straight to the collapsed mine shaft, gasping in cold air after seeing it.

The mine shaft had collapsed twenty or thirty meters deep from the surface. This hundred-meter-deep mine shaft was beyond their means to handle currently, as they had used specialized machinery to dig this mine initially.

Several men in cloaks checked the remaining three mine shafts below and then came running to report:

”Captain Luo, we didn’t see Master Yang and the others in the other mine shafts, what do you think?”

”Do we still need to talk about it? They are obviously buried in this mine shaft. Report immediately to the base, notify the station manager David, and say the mine was attacked, the mine shaft was blown up, and Master Yang and others were buried in the mine pit.”

One of the men in black cloaks hurried to the nearby spaceship and reported to the base using the equipment on board.

Luo Meng continued to roam around the mining site, inspecting the scene.

Half an hour later, a spaceship landed, and David hurriedly descended from the spaceship, greeted by Luo Meng.

”What happened, the mining site was attacked, why didn’t the surveillance equipment show anything?”

”Last night, the surveillance devices were covered by wild people using leaves. This is not the first time this has happened, and this batch of surveillance equipment is already old and often malfunctions; it was supposed to be replaced a while ago.”

”Haven’t they been asked to be replaced already?”

”The new equipment hasn’t been shipped from Witch Star yet.”

”Alright, let’s not discuss the equipment issue now. What about Master Yang?”

Luo Meng pointed toward the distant pit without speaking.

David ran over, looked at the pit, felt heavy-hearted, hesitated a moment, his eyes slightly closed, his Divine Sense surged, and the space around him faintly fluctuated.

With a gesture from David, a huge stone weighing thousands of pounds in the mine pit erupted with a loud ”Boom,” breaking free from the rubble and flying out of the pit.
