The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 440: Chapter 440: Mr. Norton took a liking to it too!_1

For so many years, the Department of Chinese Medicine hasn’t received any promising students!

In the past, when it was hard enough to recruit two students, they would apply to transfer to another department after just one semester. Choosing Chinese Medicine was simply a last resort.

The students were disinterested in studying Chinese Medicine, and these teachers, despite their eagerness, had nowhere to apply their efforts.

But this time was different—they had received the top scorer of the examination, the only student from Tsinghua University who achieved a perfect score on the joint exam!

With so many departments vying for this excellent prospect, the fact that this exceptional student ended up in their department was something to be excited about, wasn’t it?

Moreover, today wasn’t just about gaining a student worth cultivating; his own teacher had come out of retirement to take a seat again in the Department of Chinese Medicine and mentor students!

Adelle Wafford listened to his excited words with a sneer on her face, but upon looking at Nathalie Quinlan and Mr. Avalon, she took a deep breath and gradually calmed down.

It didn’t matter if Mr. Avalon had returned. The decline of Chinese Medicine was a reality; even when he was here before, the Chinese Medicine Department hadn’t caused much of a stir. It would be the same this time around. Could a single student really save the entire department? Hah, unless that student was truly a once-in-a-century genius—otherwise, the department would remain the same old Chinese Medicine Department, unable to stand tall!

Having realized this, putting on a face of politeness became easier for her. She smiled at the old man in the classroom and said, ”Congratulations to Mr. Avalon on acquiring another ’good’ student.”

The emphasis she placed on the words ”good student” was clear, and her gaze toward Nathalie Quinlan flickered with scorn and disgust.

Derliand Gober followed her lead, abandoning his previous arrogance and said to Nathalie Quinlan, ”Mr. Avalon hasn’t personally mentored a student in many years. You’re lucky to have caught his eye. You must study hard and not waste this opportunity.”

He completely avoided mentioning his earlier claims about the futility of Chinese Medicine, not to mention connections and resources.

His demeanor seemed genuinely pleased for Nathalie Quinlan, but as for what he truly thought, only he knew.

Nathalie Quinlan didn’t care what these people thought, or rather, from the beginning to end, she had never paid much attention to Adelle Wafford and Derliand Gober, so she didn’t take their prattling to heart. Out of politeness, since Derliand Gober had addressed her, she nonchalantly murmured a ”hmm” in response, which sufficed for an answer.

To others, her attitude might seem a bit careless, almost as if she was showing a lack of respect.

Especially for someone like Derliand Gober, who wherever he went, was respectfully addressed as professor, it instinctively made him frown. Out of respect for Mr. Avalon, he refrained from making a scene, but privately, he also thought that Nathalie Quinlan’s rebellious nature meant she wouldn’t make much of a name for herself in the Department of Chinese Medicine.

Shawn Norton didn’t care what they thought. Once Nathalie Quinlan’s admission into the Department of Chinese Medicine was set, he slowly said, ”If you’re majoring in Chinese Medicine, you should have a minor as well. Have you thought about what you want to minor in?”

Nowadays, it’s common for university students to graduate with dual degrees. Typically, besides choosing one’s major, students would also select a minor around one month after the start of school, often through the student course selection system.

Of course, some popular majors also involve mutual selection issues, such as finance, clinical science, and other sought-after fields, which aren’t so easy to mince into as a minor.

So earlier, when Ghania Quinlan was chosen by Derliand Gober, the question of whether she would minor in Finance caused quite a stir.

Now that Shawn Norton had spoken up, everyone began to realize something, looking over with disbelief—It was one thing for Mr. Avalon to take a disciple, but what did Mr. Norton mean by this? Was he also intending to take on a disciple? And not as a major, but as a minor?!
