The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 436: Chapter 436: She Thinks Too Highly of Herself!_1

Winston Sullivan could tolerate no more. He slapped the table and stood up, glaring at Professor Derliand with anger and raising his voice, ”Professor Gober, Nathalie can choose not to join our Chinese Medicine department, but I don’t accept what you just said. We are here to educate students, but more importantly to cultivate their characters first!”

Professor Derliand looked down on his words with a sneer, merely retorting with a light question, ”Does the Chinese Medicine department have the capability to cultivate such a promising young talent? If you can’t help her grow, encouraging her to choose your department is no different from ruining her. Am I not trying to save a promising young talent when I try to educate her properly?”

Winston felt like he had been slapped hard in the face; his expression was incredibly awkward. In the past, with his temper, he would have already started arguing with Professor Derliand, perhaps even come to blows. But now... he clenched his fists tightly, a vein throbbing on his forehead, and had to admit that Derliand’s points were valid.

Over the years, as Chinese Medicine declined, the resources available to their department were extremely limited.

Medical studies are tied to research, and the top fields always have the best research projects, backed by substantial capital investment from major financial entities.

It had been many years since their Chinese Medicine department had received any investment.

As for infrastructural facilities, Chinese Medicine was the worst in the entire school, and in terms of teaching staff, without Mr. Avalon at the helm, none of the younger generation had a reputation to speak of.

With a student as stellar as Nathalie ending up in their care, they could indeed risk failing a promising young talent.

Winston was reluctant to accept this, but when he looked at Nathalie again, the light in his eyes had gone out. He looked at the only promising student willing to choose their department this year and said hesitatingly, ”Nathalie, I don’t agree with Professor Derliand’s words, but some of what he said makes sense. Choosing a major is a significant matter, you... think it through carefully.”

Shawn Norton had been watching the excitement from the sidelines, observing their uncompromising dispute and seeing Winston ultimately take a step back for the student’s future, sincerely advising Nathalie to consider her options. His eyebrows rose, his tensed back relaxed, and he felt less frustrated than before.

He understood Nathalie’s character; she was headstrong, never easily changing her mind.

She had just arrived in Beijing, and he went to see her personally, hoping she would reconsider her major, reconsider her options. She didn’t let his persuasion change her decision, and he didn’t believe that just Professor Derliand’s words would sway her.

Besides, the conditions proposed by Professor Derliand might be tempting to others, but for Nathalie... Shawn looked at the standing figure and only felt like laughing.

To someone close to Owen Yapiter and protected by Silvania Ingram, what weight did the connections and resources brought by Professor Derliand hold?

He must be thinking too highly of himself!

If Nathalie wanted to access the connections and resources of Beijing, he, being somewhat of a mentor to her, would be more than willing to pave the way for her. Did it fall to Professor Derliand to worry about it?

Shawn already had his answer. He picked up his thermos, leisurely twisted open the lid to take a drink, then slowly placed the cup down again. He looked past Professor Derliand and Winston to ask her, ”Have you made up your mind? If you’ve decided, just say it so they don’t have to continue arguing over you.”

Nathalie hadn’t intended to have anyone argue over her. Just now, Professor Derliand and Winston had been uncompromising, neither giving her a chance to speak, so she didn’t interject. Now that they were finished, she tucked away the defiance in her eyes, pushed down her duckbill cap, and stood in an informal, somewhat slouching posture.

”I’ve made myself very clear. I choose the Chinese Medicine department.”
