The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 423: Chapter 423: What a Coincidence, Just Bumped into _1

Candice Yancey was attending a social event outside when she received the text message. The private room was filled with about a dozen people, immersed in the banquet’s revelry; amid the clinking of glasses and laughter, a business deal worth over a hundred million could be reached.

Candice had sipped a couple of drinks and, upon seeing the message, stood up, pushed back her chair, and said to everyone at the table, ”Excuse me, I need to make a phone call.”

Everyone at the feast knew the Yancey family’s young lady; upon hearing her, they promptly responded, ”Mr. Yancey, please, feel free.”

”Yes, feel free, it’s just an ordinary meal for us.”

”Go ahead, go ahead.”

Candice didn’t stand on ceremony with them; she picked up her phone and coat and pushed through the door out of the private room.

Once outside, she immediately called Amadeus Yancey back.

The call connected instantly.

Without any hesitation, she cheerfully asked, ”Why the sudden need to see Mr. Avalon? Could it be that Nathalie’s exam results are out?”

Alfred Garland had told her that Ghania Quinlan had come to Beijing to attend Tsinghua University’s independent recruitment exam, and she had been wanting to invite Nathalie for a meal but hadn’t found the opportunity.

Candice calculated in her heart; today seemed to be the day for Tsinghua University’s independent recruitment exam, and her nephew suddenly sending her a message must hold some significant meaning.

”How did Nathalie do?” She was more concerned about this.

As she spoke, she walked toward the exit, coincidentally encountering a few people also coming out of a private room, seemingly heading in the direction of the restroom.

She glanced at the girl, who was quite pretty. Candice seemed to have seen her somewhere before; she looked somewhat familiar.

Candice gave a longer look, but they were quite far apart, and she focused more on the ongoing phone call, giving only a cursory glance before brushing past the girl.

Just then, something said on the phone caused her face to show a look of surprise. She couldn’t contain her emotions and blurted out, ”You’re saying she got full marks? She scored full marks on the independent recruitment exam?!”

There were many people dining at the Imperial Hotel, and the corridors were filled with waiters. Her voice was louder than intended and drew the attention of many towards her.

Feeling the curious gazes from around her and unable to hide the joy in her expression, Candice pressed the phone to her ear and hastened her pace to walk outside.

As she hurriedly walked, she continued talking on the phone, ”You didn’t tell me before that her grades were so good. I was thinking about whether I should pull some strings in advance; you had me worried for nothing. Right, tomorrow morning...”

...

As she hurriedly left, Ghania Quinlan only saw her back but noticed the coat in her hand.

Having been in Beijing for a month, Ghania usually followed Ivy Wilmar. Although Ivy didn’t involve her in socializing and seldom let her go out, Ghania still had occasional encounters with famous ladies and society women from Beijing’s upper echelons. What these women wore, what they carried, were all beyond Ghania’s previous experiences in McKinney!

What Ghania thought were designer brands were seen as no different from street stall goods in the eyes of these women; even a phone case they casually held could be a design from some master.

The coat she had just seen was the same; a collaborative collection from Balenciaga, a globally limited edition, and there seemed to be only one piece!

As for the price, well, with it being a globally limited design, the price was naturally staggeringly high.

Aside from paying attention to the coat, Ghania was also intrigued by the phone call she had accidentally overheard. She turned around and asked seemingly offhandedly, ”Auntie, I think I just overheard someone mentioning someone scored full marks? It couldn’t be from this year’s Tsinghua recruitment exam, could it?”

Ivy Wilmar had found it stuffy to stay inside the private room eating, so she came out for some fresh air and was heading to the restroom to touch up her makeup, but Ghania insisted on following.
