High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2250: Chapter 471: Four Little Reindeer

Jingle bells, jingle bells,

Jingle all the way!

Oh, what fun it is to ride

In a one-horse open sleigh

...

The massive Christmas tree, requiring several people to encircle it, stood like a small mountain in the corner of the party, sitting quietly and calmly. Countless tiny lights were set among its branches, and at the ends of the sprawling limbs hung various beautiful gift boxes, swaying gently in the night wind, resembling ripe pine cones, from which every guest attending the party could pick one.

The few thickest branches at the front had most of their leaves cut off, exposing rows of dark green branches, arranged neatly like the gnarled ribs of an old tree—the little witches singing were sitting on these branches, wearing antler hats and blue noses, with red scarves and loose gray checkered robes, each dressed like deer-headed people from Silent Forest.

They danced around, singing happily, with colorful magical sparks scattering behind them, decorating the night even more splendidly.

”Li Meng?!”

Zheng Qing immediately noticed a little witch who was bouncing around on the tree, his voice filled with surprise and unease: ”How did she also come to this party... Is she the person you just mentioned? Did she come alone?”

The last two questions were directed at Dylan.

Mister Wolfman’s expression seemed more surprised than Zheng Qing’s: ”Li Meng is here too? Where? Eh? It really seems like her... but she looks a bit younger than usual... What did you just say? No! Of course not! I mean, I didn’t know Li Meng was coming either, the other person I mentioned, look at who’s beside Li Meng?”

Zheng Qing restrained himself and turned his gaze back to the Christmas tree.

This time, he checked each of the cheerful little faces on the tree, and soon, besides Li Meng, he also saw Lin Guo, Su Ya, and Zhu Si.

As soon as he saw Zhu Si, the young cost student felt a little dazed, instinctively rubbed his eyes, and took a step forward.

”See her?” Dylan’s voice was in his ear.

”Zhu Si? She is now...” Zheng Qing paused here; he actually had a stomach full of questions he wanted to ask—’Is she safe now?’ ’Has she recovered?’ ’Is she free now?’, and so on, but when it came down to it, he only managed to utter four words: ”... Is it okay?”

Saying this, the boy couldn’t help but glance around, as if any moment now the well-dressed guests around him would turn around, revealing evil and terrifying Raven Masks on their faces.

”Don’t know.”

Dylan very frankly shrugged, seemingly stepping out of that depressing hall had soothed his wounded soul, giving him more patience for the young cost student: ”I didn’t notice her for long before I got the news you were here... you know what happened next... um, their performance should be winding down soon, you can ask her yourself.”

Accompanied by the last burst of splendid fireworks, the singing came to a pause, and lukewarm yet polite applause echoed at the party scene, as the little witches on the Christmas tree rose one after another, bowing to the audience below the tree.

”I never knew there were so many kids at First University!” Zheng Qing shook his head, finally thinking of another unusual thing.

”Most of them are from the Beta Town Chamber of Commerce.”

On this matter, Linda Barnes’ information was much more informed than Dylan’s: ”Beta Town is right outside Alpha Fortress, so the two have always been closely connected, adding a bit of affection through small programs at such parties makes everyone happy... The Zhu Si you just mentioned, is she the advisor for the Fringe Hunting Team? So, the details in the post are true; she was the main target of those Ravens?”

At some point, a small palm-sized notebook and a feather pen had appeared in her hands, and she was studying the expressions of the two young wizards with a shrewd look.

The slight guilt Zheng Qing felt from the previous misunderstanding disappeared immediately.

”Sorry, I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He dryly responded, turning his back on the blonde witch, showing a rude demeanor of refusing to converse further with her.

But if he thought this would deter the former ’Golden Feather’ holder, he was underestimating her.

The blonde witch smiled slightly, put away the notebook and feather pen, tidied her long hair a bit, then strode towards the Christmas tree, amidst the expressions of the two warlocks that seemed like they’d swallowed something foul, she brought down the four little witches associated with Zheng Qing.

”What exactly is she up to?” Dylan frowned and asked softly.

”She wants to interview Su Shijun.” Zheng Qing whispered, his eyes scanning sharply left and right, fearing that someone would overhear him uttering the name and react rashly.

”Then there’s nothing we can do.”

Dylan shook his head, sighed, clinked his fingers at a sprite wandering nearby, and said to the young cost student with a tilted head: ”She always had an interest in my mixed blood... I can stall a few minutes for you, ask what you want to quickly.”

The sprites brought large wine bottles in front of the boy.

Dylan took two full glasses of Amber Light, forced a bright smile on his face, spread his arms, and welcomed the little witches being led back by Linda: ”Welcome, welcome back, our teacher Zhu Si... You seem even younger again! And for the three of you, remember not to drink... Barnes, Barnes, let’s have a chat, I remember you were quite interested in the affairs of O’Brien and the Tabbot family!”

The blonde witch looked at the expressionless Zheng Qing, then at Dylan who seemed firm, eventually smiled slightly, accepted a wine glass, and obediently walked aside.

Zheng Qing secretly let out a small sigh of relief in his heart.

Then he looked sternly at the four little ones in front of him—whether it was an illusion or not, he felt these guys looked smaller than he remembered—just at first glance, he couldn’t help but frown, take a step back, and scrutinized them a bit longer.

”Did you guys take the Age Reduction Agent?”

The phrase flashed in his mind, and he immediately raised an eyebrow.

Zhu Si coughed quietly and hurriedly, Lin Guo uneasily tugged at Zhu Si’s sleeve, while Su Ya looked blankly at Zheng Qing, seeming not to understand what he was saying—her expression, paired with her fluffy big tail that was completely different from the other ’reindeer’ short tails, made her look even sillier.

Among the wobbling antlers, only Li Meng beamed with joy at these words.

”Is it that obvious?!”

She shook her small deer tail boldly and spoke proudly: ”See, I said I’m already a college student, I can’t pretend to be a kid singing Christmas songs... Fortunately, Zhu Si was smart and got the Age Reduction Agent, so, how did we sing?”
