Chapter 2213: Chapter 434: Not Making Trouble

Charred stumps are scattered randomly and haphazardly across this pale, withered world; on top of each stump sits a gray-white, ghost-like entity, each holding an equally shapeless shakuhachi, playing that sharp and faintly mocking music continuously and uninterruptedly.

Although these shapeless performers have obscure appearances, based on their rough forms, it’s possible to deduce that they are the other missing members of the Ogre Tribe.

Clearly, at this moment, all the ogres in this tribe have been merged together through some eerie and terrifying magic. The gray-white shadows left outside are as fragile as soap bubbles in the sun, so vulnerable that a gust of wind or a flying stone could shatter them to pieces.

Then, amidst the flute’s wailing tones, the shattered gray-white pieces slowly gather together again, their forms becoming increasingly thin, continuing their monotonous and dreary spectral existence.

The last sound they leave in the world is the sharp and piercing noise produced by the shakuhachi, as if thousands of birds are chirping in unison.

On this backdrop of sharp noise, the words of the magical zoology teacher seem quite gentle.

And very reasonable.

Yet they are still not enough to convince Zheng Qing.

The young cost student gripped the charm gun, his finger on the trigger, his expression somewhat hesitant, until someone spoke for him about a certain concern he was reluctant to voice.

”Sir, you are making things difficult for Poseidon’s father.”

A chubby face protruded laboriously from the Blue Giant’s chest, its expression somewhat obscure, but the words were articulated very clearly, with a hint of schadenfreude in its tone: ”...If Mr. Zha doesn’t act today, he’ll probably be knocked out by someone with a club tomorrow night.”

Zheng Qing glared angrily at that chubby face.

”Mr. Zha?”

Gan Ning took a few seconds to realize what the code name meant, and then he remembered the special relationship between the ’plain and unassuming’ little warlock in front of him and the dazzling witch in the sky, so he couldn’t help but look up again.

Above, the crisscrossing spell lights made him squint.

”You don’t say, I don’t say, no one will know you didn’t act today.” After a while, the young magical zoology teacher lowered his head, sighed, and then asked Zheng Qing: ”...Or do you think I need to sign a Silence Contract before you are willing to stay put?”

Zheng Qing sheepishly lowered the gun barrel, finally giving up on the idea of taking a potshot that kept popping into his head moments earlier.

On one hand, Su Shijun now seemed to be handling things with ease, in a dominant position from above. While not suppressing the monsters on the ground, he could be said to be ’taking strategic initiative.’ If he were to make a move now, it would be a mere embellishment—a not particularly pretty one at that.

He realized more clearly than ever that rushing into the battlefield of two Big Wizards with only a hot-blooded impulse was very unwise. The Black Prison Battlefield had taught him this lesson very deeply. Sometimes, goodwill can lead to bad outcomes; the magic you release might not defeat your enemies but could backfire on your teammates instead.

On the other hand, the intricate magic runes floating and flowing on the monster in front of him were like a twitching cat’s tail, continuously stirring the young cost student’s curiosity.

With his deep foundation in runes, Zheng Qing had already deciphered many ’details’ on the monster.

For example, the small, fleshy tendrils protruding from the monster, like snail antennae, seemed to be able to extend indefinitely, weaving into large, scale-armored arms like muscle fibers. These arms, now raised high in the air to fend off Su Shijun’s spells and to grab at the green fox tails, were birthed in this way.

Zheng Qing had seen these arms torn to pieces by Su Shijun’s spells several times, only to transform back into worm-like, small fleshy tendrils, crawling back onto the monster and regenerating.

Furthermore, every time the monster roared or used its magic power, a dense array of small runes would surface on its skin—some golden, some silver—interwoven like a series of cages or chains, binding the demon bloodline and the starry sky pollution separately, maintaining a delicate and fragile balance within this already deformed body.

The young cost student widened his eyes in amazement.

He admired himself, having discovered so much merely through ’observation,’ but felt there were still more details to be unearthed—such as further interpreting those runes—and given some time, he was sure he could understand more!

”Enough.”

Gan Ning’s not-so-tall figure blocked in front of the young cost student, obstructing his view. He glanced meaningfully at him a few times before finally reminding him gently: ”Many times, learning and exploration are not entirely positive concepts. Much knowledge, even just understanding it, requires you to pay a painful price... Do not be swayed by the knowledge actively poured into your mind, maintain sufficient vigilance against it!”

”Yes, teacher.”

The young cost student squeezed the charm gun in his hand, withdrawing his gaze with disappointment and caution. The disappointment lay in the feeling that he was just about to grasp the essence of the monster; the caution stemmed from his realization that the speed at which he was acquiring knowledge was abnormally rapid!

These two urgent yet conflicting thoughts were fiercely clashing in his mind, as if the two heads of a two-headed ogre were quarreling. Zheng Qing even began to wonder if he was experiencing schizophrenia or if the mutated two-headed ogre opposite him was using some bizarre curse to try and transform him.

He glanced around irritably, then suddenly paused and unconsciously opened the magazine, ejecting the Blood Symbol Bullet and replacing it with an ordinary Anti-evil charm bullet.

Then he steadied himself.

Raising his hand, he aimed at a charred locust tree stump in the oblique direction and pulled the trigger.

The stump looked very normal, similar to the hundreds of other charred stumps around it, all products of the duel between the two Big Wizards. The upper part of their tree bodies, which had disappeared, had turned into swirling ashes under the mutual effects of Thunder Curse and Destruction Curse, vanishing from this world. Only the broken roots remained, barely surviving.

Bang!

The crisp gunshot startled the other two onlookers. The Fu Bullet, wrapped in milky white anti-evil spell light, accurately hit the charred tree stump, undoubtedly smashing it to pieces.

”What are you doing?” The magical zoology teacher frowned, looking at the somewhat worrisome warlock beside him.

”I just wanted to try.”

The young cost student squeezed the charm gun in his hand, his tone somewhat uncertain: ”I was just observing the runes... Those stumps and the gray-white ghosts seem to be located at a node of a larger system... To this extent, it shouldn’t cause her any trouble, right.”
