High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2216: Chapter 437: Three Shots

The sky collapsed.

This was the only thought that flashed in Zheng Qing’s mind at this moment.

Without being there, it’s hard to imagine the feeling of an enormous hand falling above oneself—perhaps when a person stands by the sea, watching massive waves tens of meters high rush toward them; or when someone jumps from a skyscraper, each story flashing by as the ground approaches, might experience a similar pressure.

A helplessness and lack of action alike.

Almost instinctively, Zheng Qing skillfully opened the magazine, loaded a blood symbol bullet, then raised the gun, shooting without even aiming—with a bang, fired toward the sky above.

Bang!

A faint red spell light drew a straight red line that pierced the sky.

”Too early.”

Su Shijun’s voice came from behind. She playfully interrupted the young wizard’s gunfire, reminding him, ”You should wait until it’s a bit closer to us before firing, because this Remington doesn’t have that kind of range... Right now, that hand is too far from us, just barely tearing apart the clouds... But then again, if it actually gets close enough for your range, I doubt your fu bullet could break through the force it’s gathered from above.”

As if to underscore the witch’s words.

The blood symbol bullet exploded far from the giant hand, crushed by the overwhelming aura approaching them. The faint red magical fluctuations swept out like a tsunami in all directions, cutting off the golden sunlight, the long-stilled cold wind swirling back to life, whistling through the empty Silent Forest and sending chills coursing through the young wizard’s heart.

An Upper House Member of the Moon Council raised a hand and snapped her fingers.

Five clusters of green flames suddenly lit up around everyone, the thin flames linking together to form a thin yet tenacious translucent barrier, counteracting the heavy pressure coming from the sky and the forest.

Rough panting was immediately heard within the barrier.

Zheng Qing looked around and realized that not everyone could, like him, move easily under such immense pressure, much less fire a shot toward the source of that pressure.

Others, those with strong will like Lecturer Gan Ning or Zhang Ji Xin, could barely stand their ground by clutching their law books, while those who were previously injured, like Dylan, could only lean against a scorched stump, seemingly on the brink of passing out at any moment.

”By the way, there’s still a bit of time.”

Su Shijun shook the snow from her red cloak, took out her wide red glasses again, placed them on her nose, gleefully reminding others, ”If anyone wants to write a will, seize the chance... This is not a joke.”

In her final words, her tone was very serious.

”You should be able to do something,” Zheng Qing said, trying hard to ignore the terrifying pressure above, his voice a bit dry.

He examined the thin barrier around them, licked his lips, gestured toward his companions, and softly added, ”...even if it’s just to protect this small place.”

The Upper House Member rolled her eyes elegantly.

”You’re overestimating me.”

She wrote on a piece of parchment with a feather pen, as if actually writing a will, yet her expression seemed overly relaxed. ”I’m just a small big wizard, not even two years since I advanced, and I haven’t even fully consolidated my true form... And this fellow above us...”

Her feather pen paused as she looked up at the enormous hand drawing even closer, gesturing and confirming, ”This fellow is at least at the legendary level.”

As an initial-stage big wizard, she could only judge up to this point.

”Who is he?”

Xiao Xiao uncharacteristically asked, voicing the collective confusion of everyone else: ”Why attack us... What about the school? How could something like this happen during Winter Hunting!”

”I don’t know.”

The Upper House Member of the Moon Council shook her head decisively, not hiding anything, slightly quickening her words: ”There are too many monsters in the deeps of the starry sky, who knows which one came... And besides, he’s not after us... As for the school, the ones who know what’s going on are not there, the rest are just a few scattered cats, thankful if they can preserve the campus with the Guardian Formation, how could they dare poke a fire dragon’s chin~”

At this point, she glanced at Zheng Qing again and seriously confirmed, ”Are you really not planning to leave a will? You have to leave Poseidon some living expenses!”

This bizarre turn of phrase abruptly interrupted the young wizard’s train of thought.

He was speechless.

After a half-second of being stunned, he regained his senses and awkwardly changed the subject: ”He’s not here for us, then who? Could it be for that?”

The warlock pointed at the mutated ogre, inexplicably finding its fat, ugly form suddenly more tolerable.

”Whoever invited him, that’s who he’s after.”

Su Shijun patiently explained, ”The beings from the deeps of the starry sky are tricky, but they’re lazy, too, they wouldn’t come to the school just for no reason, unless someone gave them the eye or took something of theirs. Then they’d reluctantly make an appearance... If you observe closely, you should be able to notice that the ogre’s aura is somewhat similar to that big guy up there. I’d lean toward the big guy considering it a descendant or a follower, hence popping over to say hello.”

”Say hello...”

Zheng Qing whispered in disbelief at the phrase, finding it hard to grasp the mindset of such beings.

”It’s like a troublemaker breaking someone else’s window,” the Upper House Member of the Moon Council seemed to have found a better analogy, eyeing the young wizard jovially: ”...If they ran away at the time, naturally, no problems arise. But if caught by the owner of the glass, they’d inevitably have to endure some hardship.”

”Those outer gods’ hardships are not easy to swallow.”

She added, looking up at the increasingly looming giant hand, reminding the warlock, ”You could try firing another shot now... Everyone else, put away your wills, take out your law books... Guardian Curse ready.”

The young wizards clumsily draped themselves with earth-toned mountain shadows.

Behind Su Shijun, a tail lightly swayed.

On the barrier, the pale cyan light film split open a crack.

The huge pressure descending from the sky rushed in through the opening, instantly pervading the small barrier, allowing Zheng Qing to deeply feel how precious their serene, brief conversation just now truly was at this moment.

Click!

He effortfully pulled the bolt, aimed upwards without sighting, and simply pulled the trigger.

Bang! Bang!

Two consecutive blood symbol bullets soared skyward, their powerful magical potential clashing with the omnipresent pressure, carving out thin, clear boundaries around the tiny bullets like two small bubbles, enveloping them as they surged against the torrential current.
