High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2220: Chapter 441: After the Winter Hunting

The pollution from the starry sky can fundamentally change a wizard’s nature of magic, behavior habits, level of rationality, and even the clarity of their soul. Therefore, when the Protect Legal Formation of the First University was opened again, the hunting teams and patrol personnel participating in the outer Winter Hunting were quickly taken away by the arriving school staff to undergo a two-and-a-half-day health and safety assessment.

During this time, the young wizards also needed to undergo an investigation by the Professor Joint Meeting, complete a special presentation on Winter Hunting for the hunting teams, record sightings of Outer God for the Trident Sword, and submit a report of high-intensity curse applications to the Alliance and relevant departments, among other tasks.

When Zheng Qing left a certain secret experimental base and returned to the academy, the sixteenth week of the first semester of his sophomore year had already passed halfway, with less than two weeks remaining until the end of 2009.

Honestly, Zheng Qing was very grateful for the school’s cautious handling plan.

Not because this plan could greatly help him avoid pollution from the starry sky— in a certain sense, Zheng Qing didn’t particularly need this kind of help—but because during these two and a half days, it could greatly weaken the grievances entwined around him on the day the giant hand descended.

No matter who those grievances came from.

Time is the best means to dissipate them, without exception.

In any case, by Wednesday noon, when the exhausted young cost student walked through the familiar campus, the world felt much brighter to him.

Of course, it might also just be because today’s sunshine was exceptionally bright.

Although it’s winter, because last week’s Big Snow festival consumed a large amount of wind snowballs for the weather monitor until the period of Winter Hunting, they now only had a few types of weather balls like cold waves, frost, overcast, and sunny days left to use.

Given the accidents during this Winter Hunting and the upcoming final exams, school administrators believed that good weather could effectively alleviate the anxiety permeating the campus. Therefore, since Monday, sunshine had been pouring over the winter campus as if it were free of charge. However, winter sunshine is ultimately somewhat indifferent, leaving many dark corners of the academy with thick snow by Wednesday noon, adding some chill to the sunny day.

The warlock tightened the robe around him, stomped his feet, and walked a few steps, the white breath he exhaled fluttering joyfully in the sunlight.

He was the first to return to Dorm 403.

After being away for a few days, the room was clean as ever, without a trace of mustiness. Sunshine filtered through the window, leaving a slightly trembling spot of light on the desk, where the Fatty Cat Tuan Tuan was curled up, enjoying the afternoon tranquility.

Whoosh.

The sprites swarmed to the door, chattering and jostling to be the first to complain to the young cost student about everyone’s disappearance. Some clever ones had already brought warm towels and fruit plates, ingratiating themselves with their owner.

Zheng Qing accepted the steaming towel, placed it on his face, the pleasant sound of the busy He’s echoed in his ears, suddenly making the whole world feel much fresher, even that plump cat on the desk seemed much more attractive.

”I’m back!”

He raised the towel in his hand and shouted energetically.

The sprites were startled and scattered, while the Fatty Cat lying in the spot of light lazily lifted half an eyelid, glanced at the silly little wizard at the door, and then nonchalantly went back to dozing, without even bothering to wag its tail.

After all, it was winter now.

Every ray of winter sunlight is especially precious and not worth wasting over some small noise.

Wednesday afternoon was an elective class.

Zheng Qing was taking magical zoology with Jiang Yu. At this thought, the young cost student’s just-relaxed mood stirred a bit anxiously again, and he subconsciously touched the grey cloth bag at his waist.

The grey cloth bag contained a beautifully crafted copper-plate law book, a Christmas gift from the witch. Over these days, except for the nerve-wracking task of writing various reports, this gift was the most troubling—there was the discomfort of accepting the gift in front of Su Shijun, the tension of being seen by others, and the dilemma of how to reciprocate.

Especially the last point.

From last year to this year, whether it was his commonly used charm gun, the exquisite amulet, or that fluffy white mane collar, the gifts from Jiang Yu had always been thoughtful.

So this time, he couldn’t just casually pick a few gemstones from the offerings of the Cat Fruit Tree to make do.

Time slipped away quickly as the warlock sighed repeatedly. Originally, he wanted to wait for Xiao Xiao to return and hear his suggestions, but by two in the afternoon, none of the others had returned to the dorm, so Zheng Qing had to carry his full mind to class.

Considering the experiences from this Winter Hunting, he was originally prepared to be questioned and even watched by others—under normal circumstances, two and a half days would have been enough to ferment into a relatively stable rumor among the students—but to the young cost student’s surprise, many of his classmates didn’t show much curiosity. Some approached him only to indirectly hint at some gossip about Su Shijun.

”Everyone doesn’t know what happened in the Silent Forest.”

Due to being a class committee member and having Li Meng as a ’sidekick,’ Jiang Yu had slightly more information than Zheng Qing: ”Those who went out, including us, all signed the Silence Contract; nothing unusual appeared within the school... As for the Protect Legal Formation being deployed, the school prefers to let things settle peacefully... Many people see the deployment of the Protect Legal Formation each year as a rehearsal; this time it just coincided with Winter Hunting.”

”Beta Town Post didn’t cause any trouble?” Zheng Qing was astonished.

”Professor Emma is already the university’s vice principal; she has a strong influence over all of Alpha’s institutions.” The witch explained succinctly, ”The Post just likes to pick on Jiuyou Academy, not to oppose the First University.”

The warlock tried hard to control himself from making a disdainful sound with his nose.

Jiang Yu was somewhat amused by his expression.

”Sometimes you and Li Meng seem very similar.” She teased, wanting to say that the warlock was somewhat naive.

”That’s why you have a firm grip on me.” The warlock replied without blinking an eye, then immediately realized that this response might not be appropriate.

He wanted to correct himself but soon realized that doing so would be even more inappropriate.

Jiang Yu was obviously caught off guard by his words, her ears turning slightly red, and began fiddling with the book and homework in front of her, which were already neat.

For a while, the two fell into an awkward silence.

Gan Ning once again saved Zheng Qing.

”Class is starting!”

The magical zoology teacher shouted, breezing past the two young wizards, seemingly taking away the awkward atmosphere in the air, allowing Zheng Qing and Jiang Yu to breathe a sigh of relief.

”This lesson, we will learn about the living habits and talent abilities of the Zhu Yan,”

Gan Ning stood on the podium, speaking briskly, unaffected by the bad experiences of the past few days: ”As far as I know, there are several adult Zhu Yan in the Silent Forest...”
