High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2223: Chapter 444: Thursday

Just like Gan Ning and Professor Montreya chose to meet in a small cabin at the Wandering Bar.

All serious discussions about the accident at the end of 2009’s Winter Hunting were confined to a few secret and quiet corners. Although traces of suspected off-campus legendary powers were found at the accident site, it surprisingly did not cause much of a stir within the First University.

Even off-campus, the few reports and rumors focused on some insignificant details.

For example, whether the reform of this Winter Hunting aligns with the development needs set by the Alliance for young wizards, whether money has replaced individual ability as a crucial factor in Winter Hunting, and the fact that Su Shijun once again served as the advisory teacher for the Absolution Hunting Team—especially the latter, which received the most coverage.

Because so far, neither the Greenhill Mansion nor Zheng Qing has directly responded to the vague accusations from the ”Daily Horn Newspaper” article more than a month ago, leaving ample room for rumors to grow.

Additionally, the upcoming final exams and the nearer Christmas also greatly diverted the attention of the young wizards. Compared to these, the school hunting competition in October seemed like a thing of last year.

For the young wizards of the Absolution Hunting Team who signed a comprehensive Silence Contract, this current situation was not unfamiliar. In their brief yet long university life of one and a half years, they had already harbored too many secrets, and even Xin Fat Man, who aspired for the Golden Feather Pen, did not complain much about the school’s arrangements.

In his words, the light in the deeps of the starry sky is too bizarre and elusive; knowing less is beneficial for everyone.

The only thing that bothered everyone was that they could not visit Zhu Si.

”The school stated that everything is under control, and Zhu Si is currently safe and healthy,” Zheng Qing summarized the information he received: ”Dylento, who often visits the school hospital, tried to find out, but couldn’t locate Zhu Si’s ward.”

On Thursday morning after Magic Potion Class, several young wizards from the Absolution Hunting Team gathered to share the information they had gathered. The person who asked Dylan to inquire was Zheng Qing, and as students of the Starry Sky Academy, no one knew the school hospital better than they did.

”If she is indeed very healthy, she naturally wouldn’t be in the school hospital; if she hasn’t recovered, the school wouldn’t risk placing her there either.”

Doctor Xiao adjusted his glasses, making a seemingly reasonable assumption, and then looked at the only witch present: ”Any new information from the Fringe Hunting Team?”

Although where the giant hand fell was the Fringe Hunting Team’s hunting ground, they lost consciousness before the Raven appeared, so they weren’t affected by the pollution from the starry sky and hadn’t undergone the school’s health and safety assessment in the past two days.

”Fifi also said she hasn’t seen Zhu Si.”

Jiang Yu reported the information she got from her witch: ”However, Nicholas has been running to the North District frequently during this period, asking around about the Raven.”

Zheng Qing instinctively glanced at Nicholas’ seat.

It was empty.

When Zhu Si was attacked, as the last conscious hunter of the Fringe Hunting Team, Nicholas caught a glimpse of two figures wearing Raven Masks, which became the only clue he couldn’t forget.

As the campus spokesperson for the ’Give Me a Frog’ movement, Nicholas had already gained considerable popularity among the Northern District Wizards, and the growing number of Northern District Wizards could gradually provide him with more help.

”Those Ravens.”

The leader of the Absolution Hunting Team murmured, shaking his head, not optimistic about the Fringe Hunting Team’s leader’s efforts: ”If they were so easy to catch, we wouldn’t still know nothing by now.”

Whether from the Absolution Hunting Team’s own inquiries or through channels like the Seven Sins or other organizations, they couldn’t find any traces of those Ravens.

But this time, the Ravens reappeared and attacked Zhu Si, confirming one of Zheng Qing’s earlier suspicions.

”The only thing we can be sure of now is the possibility we discussed before—the Ravens are conducting illegal experiments related to demon bloodline.”

The young cost student looked around, deliberating: ”Last time, during the hunting competition, their attack led to us passing out directly on the hunting ground; this time they attacked Zhu Si again... Moreover, if I guessed correctly, the Ogres we encountered during the pre-opening trial and the subsequent accidents during the hunting team training were all their doing... We need to do something...”

Xin Fat Man responded first: ”I will continue to check relevant experimental materials in the editorial department, hoping to find some names of wizards who conducted similar experiments in history.”

”I’ll be in charge of the library.” Xiao Xiao also nodded, but he added a caveat: ”But I doubt the school would place such dangerous materials in the public lending area.”

”I’ll ask my brother for help.” Zhang Ji Xin’s source of information was always so simple and effective: ”This time, the school hunting team also suffered outside, so they will definitely pay more attention.”

Zheng Qing clapped his hands in satisfaction.

”I’ll notify Dylan and the Blue Bird as well, let them keep an eye out too.” As he said this, his gaze turned to the only witch in the team, and looking into her bright eyes, he suddenly felt somewhat guilty, his voice involuntarily lowering a few degrees: ”Uh, and about Doctor Duzem, we should find some time to visit...”

”Mm.” Jiang Yu pursed her lips and agreed softly.

Such a simple word suddenly made the atmosphere become subtle and strange, and everyone else looked away, trying to pretend they didn’t notice this eerie ambiance, even someone as slow as Zhang Ji Xin couldn’t help scratching his head, sensing the unusual air.

”Is there anything I don’t know?” The red-faced warlock asked very honestly and earnestly.

Zheng Qing chuckled dryly.

”Sunday is the first anniversary of D&K’s opening. If your brother has time, he’s welcome to join the celebration.” The young cost student cleverly changed the subject.

Xiao Xiao looked at the warlock in surprise.

”How rare.”

He didn’t hide the sarcasm in his tone: ”You actually remembered the first anniversary... I thought all you had in your mind were Ravens, cats, and foxes.”

That remark was a bit of a hit to the heart.

Zheng Qing glared at him fiercely. Catching a glimpse of a stack of newspapers in the drawer behind the fat wizard, he changed the topic like the wind: ”By the way, Fatty, during the days we participated in the ’health assessment,’ was there any big news from the school?”

The fat wizard glanced at him.

”No news, but there’s an old article.” He waved the stack of newspapers at Zheng Qing, his smile filled with malice: ”Are you sure you want to see it?”

Zheng Qing thought hard for a few seconds.

Unable to remember any trouble he had caused, he sneered, bravely taking the stack of newspapers: ”I really don’t know of any old articles that I wouldn’t dare to read...”
