High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2210: Chapter 431: Storm in a Teacup

Unexpected events in life are like boils on the body; they suddenly appear when you least expect them, making you irritable and just wanting to cut them out along with the surrounding flesh.

Just like Su Shijun’s current mood.

Earlier, when the School Guardian Array was activated, and the Absolution Hunting Team decided to venture into the Silent Forest, this Upper House Member of the Moon Council was enjoying afternoon tea in her own ’bubble’—

When the clock struck four in the afternoon, everything paused instantly for the afternoon tea.

Elegant and lively music flowed from the Speaker Flowers. The white bone china tea set was inlaid with exquisite gold and silver filigree. The hot black tea and the icy dragon-blood condensed milk blended into the perfect temperature, accompanied by finger sandwiches with strawberry jam and smoked Literary Ray, and scones smeared with cream, making her feel like she had returned to her carefree girlhood.

Of course, if she had to choose between the past and now, she still preferred staying at school.

Not because she liked working in the school laboratory.

But because she liked the atmosphere of the school.

No boring conversations and vacuous casanovas, no need to deal with those old folks with stiff grins, no need to consider if the guest invited traced back five hundred years had any unknown vendetta, and no need to change over a dozen gowns in a day to listen to different warlocks speak similar nonsense in the same ballroom.

She could simply be herself happily.

This gave her ample energy to research magic, beauty treatments, and enjoy lazy naps, plenty of time to have afternoon tea, tend to the small garden of the mansion, and even time to make study plans for Poseidon.

Occasionally, when bored, like today, she could participate in the school’s winter hunt, relive not-so-distant campus memories, and enjoy a uniquely private viewing angle.

Compared to the treacherous and perilous real hunt, everything happening now, in Su Shijun’s view, was just a ’tempest in a teapot.’

Unlike Zhu Si, who, as a first-time guiding teacher, diligently kept an eye on the hunting team’s movements, Su Shijun, who had long adapted to council life, was already skillful at balancing the fine line between ’work’ and ’life’—of course, more importantly, she was very confident in the hunting team she was responsible for, not believing that the fringe of the Silent Forest had anything dangerous that could threaten those young mages.

Even if it was a wild dragon of the Great Wizard Rank, these young people might have the chance to bring it down from the sky. Especially since a certain warlock was wielding a terrifying Charm Gun.

Thinking of this, the witch pouted, put down the teacup in her hand, and glanced outside the ’bubble.’ When she had initially sent the Remington out, she hadn’t imagined it could grow to this extent.

Then, she saw those ogres blocking in front of the Absolution Hunting Team and the Victor Patrol Team.

Just one look.

The witch recognized those ogres were Righteous Bodies.

This immediately reminded her of the terrible memories of last year’s winter hunt—the tortuous rescue experience left her deeply offended by the illegal intruding ’Righteous Bodies.’

So, at the first sight of those ogres, the witch crushed her jade pendant and threw down her pretty little teacup.

The leading ogre stumbled when hit.

The eager young wizards seized the opportunity and charged in, subduing the ogres without much trouble, tying them up like dumplings.

Then, Su Shijun furrowed her delicate brows, looking back in the direction of the Winter Hunting Ground.

The spiritual senses of a Big Wizard always surpass those of ordinary registered wizards.

She keenly sensed something was wrong there.

So, after arranging for the Victor Hunting Team to clean up the battlefield, the Upper House Member of the Moon Council led the Absolution Hunting Team straight towards the Fringe Hunting Team’s hunting ground.

There came the brief, intense, and slightly chaotic skirmish in the snow.

This chaos particularly annoyed Su Shijun, like someone repeatedly reminding her of the small mistake she made during last year’s winter hunt—

”Originally thought it was just a tempest in a teapot... didn’t expect a few cockroaches to fall into the teapot.”

The Upper House Member of the Moon Council’s black hair flew wildly, her tall figure appearing and disappearing in the shamanic thunderstorm, a universe of cacophony not masking her clear and angry voice:

”Yin Qi Lei, before this brute!”

Utilizing the principle of transformation between homologous magic, the witch easily swept away the ogre’s summoned lightning and, without wasting much magic power, cast a powerful Thunder Curse.

Standing on the shoulder of the Bo Fu Clan giant, Zheng Qing seemed to relive his first experience at the Great Ming Pavilion last year—every wisp and thread of air silently exploding, the loud thunder leaving little reaction time for the young cost student, swiftly and fiercely descending upon this world already charred black, countless electric lights dancing before his eyes, unrestrainedly unleashing the purest wrath of nature.

Fortunately, Grand Sorcerer Su’s control over magic was quite good.

The green and white elves carefully avoided their allies, concentrating their energy on the ogres, especially the largest Two-headed Ogres.

The foremost Hoop-headed Ogre received the most ’attention.’

In just an instant, it was ripped apart, blood not even having a chance to flow from the wounds, seared by subsequent lightning into wisps of green and white smoke, leaving only pieces of mottled, burnt remains.

”circle-of-life!”

The Hoop-headed Ogre’s hoarse and broken voice echoed in the storm, both heads chanting the same spell, accompanied by the shaman’s gestures and dance. Creamy white brilliance gathered at its feet, like streams running backward, climbing up its feet, shins, constantly repairing the body destroyed by lightning.

Destruction and rebirth, concentrated on the same entity simultaneously, this scene was exceedingly rare.

Meanwhile, the other Two-headed Ogres roared out their adept spells, either summoning massive earth-element puppets to block in front or animating the charred trees beside them to divert the thunder, while others displayed astonishing agility, leaping in knife-edge dances amidst the rainstorm-like lightning.

The witch floating in mid-air silently flipped through her Law Book, preparing the opening gesture of the next spell.

The Hoop-headed Ogre raised its head, the newly born head under its chin emitting a sharp, ear-piercing roar: ”...the path you chose made you accepted by the school... the school you’re in makes you feel powerful... but these are ultimately illusions! Power not belonging to oneself, no matter how splendid, is merely a leaf in the cold wind. The outcome of withering and decay is inevitable!”

”Blood flows from chest to feet!”

”blood-ritual!”

”Inverted stars guide the direction for the ancestors!”

”call-of-the-ancients!”

”Born in the intercourse of blood, flesh, and spirit...”

”pound-of-flesh!”
