High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2239: Chapter 460: About Insurance

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale again, then exhale again.

”Will, logic, and patience—only by balancing these three concepts can you find true inner peace.”

The diviner of the Absolution Hunting Team muttered, repeating this sentence several times—this was a new trick Xin Fat Man had recently summarized for finding inner peace—until the agitated magic power within him slightly calmed down. Xiao Xiao then raised his head, looking calmly at his team captain:

”Do you think it’s because you don’t understand table manners that you’re being excluded?”

He first repeated his previous rhetorical question, then began to analyze by himself:

”Friedman, the Blood Race representative of the First University Moon Council, comes from the Karen family. It’s widely known that his uncle, Duke Milton Karen, is pursuing Councilman Su Shi Jun.”

”Commander, the Zombie Clan representative of the First University Moon Council, comes from the Jiang Family of Beimang Mountain. His Clover Hunting Team has failed to pass the official registration audit for two consecutive years and is still considered a reserve hunting team. Meanwhile, another hunting team younger than Clover easily obtained registration eligibility... By the way, Arthur Ness and Sima Yi are in that hunting team.”

”Andrew Taylor, a werewolf, has had more than one conflict with us. Maybe you can greet him in private, but if he wants to continue to stay peacefully in Alpha Academy, don’t expect him to smile at you at the party.”

”And then there’s Sepulano, or should I say, the current Mr. Augustus... Think about it, both the incident before you entered the school and the school probation lingering over you now, who are they related to? With your situation, do you still hope those white-robed wizards won’t exclude you?”

”Not to mention you’re going with Councilor Su!”

As they spoke, the three had already entered the library, heading to the seats they had reserved in the morning—like usual, Xiao Xiao chose a corner surrounded by bookshelves, giving them more freedom.

Taking advantage of a pause when the doctor put down his book, Xin Fat Man glanced at Zheng Qing and smirked: ”’First Gentleman,’ ’Prince of Jiuyou,’ ’Young Master of Green Hills’... haha... In the entire Jiuyou Academy, no, the whole First University, you cause more trouble than anyone else, stir up more issues than anyone else, and make more enemies than anyone else, so if those white-robed folks exclude you, is it wrong? Don’t even mention them; listening to you makes me want to exclude you too!”

Saying this, he wiggled his huge butt, making a gesture of exclusion toward Zheng Qing.

The young cost student made a dry laugh twice.

”Ha, haha, thank you for being so honest... but I was just joking earlier.”

He clasped his hands together, desperately trying to make his tone a bit more sincere: ”Heber Tru said, ’Self-deprecation is the highest form of humor’... Have you become so sensitive that you can’t distinguish between seriousness and joking?”

”I think when you said those words earlier, your eyes were shining, it didn’t look like you were joking.” Xiao Xiao had already opened the exercise set of ”Standard Spells,” and upon hearing this, glanced at Zheng Qing with a very affirmative tone: ”There was a similar description in ’Awakening Spiritual Power’... This is a characteristic that occurs with heartfelt expression.”

Zheng Qing didn’t know who wrote the book the doctor referred to.

But he thought it was well-written.

Just as he planned to critique it a bit, Xiao Xiao made a gesture for him to shut up.

”Alright, let’s end the chit-chat here.” The diviner of the Absolution Hunting Team seriously adjusted his glasses: ”Since the topic’s already here, we should seriously discuss the matter of you attending the moonlight party... Besides the skills required by the Greenhill Mansion, the Absolution Hunting Team’s advisory joint meeting also has some insights to add...”

”Wait, Absolution Hunting Team’s advisory joint meeting?”

Zheng Qing repeated the name, looking puzzled: ”Our hunting team has this kind of meeting? When was it held? How come I didn’t know? Our hunting team only has seven people, so why do we need a joint session?”

”A voluntarily initiated, freely participated meeting is called a joint meeting.” The doctor first introduced the concept to Zheng Qing, then explained concisely: ”Last night your mouth was swollen, so we didn’t call you for the discussion.”

The young cost student licked his still somewhat numb lips, feeling a bit speechless.

The fat wizard quietly corrected from the side: ”Including the two hunting team managers, there are nine people in Absolution. Eight people attended the joint meeting... Keep your voice down; be careful, or an octopus might come and throw you out!”

Zheng Qing lowered his voice, showing an understanding expression: ”Got it, so I’m the only one in Absolution unaware of this meeting, right? You know, on a ship during the Age of Discovery, this kind of behavior would be called mutiny!”

The two hunters from the Absolution Hunting Team ignored their captain’s protest.

”Anyway!”

Xiao Xiao slightly intensified his tone: ”Once you enter the moonlight party venue, we strongly advise you to stick close to Councilor Su and not to engage in conversations exceeding three minutes with any unfamiliar students, not to eat snacks handed to you by others, not to drink beverages offered by others... In fact, if possible, we suggest that you refrain from eating, drinking, or even excreting during that night; if you can maintain internal breathing, that would be even better.”

Zheng Qing no longer knew what kind of expression he should have: ”It sounds like I’m attending not a party, but a feast of betrayal.”

”It’s not much better than a feast of betrayal,” Xiao Xiao said, pulling out a piece of parchment and shoving it under the young cost student’s nose, indicating: ”By the way, sign this today.”

”What is this?”

”Personal accident insurance, bilateral, it ensures that if you’re seriously injured, your medical bills are covered, and it ensures that if you go mad, you won’t go bankrupt from the party’s organizer and victims’ claims... Rest assured, the related costs can be charged to Absolution’s public accounts, unanimously agreed upon at the joint meeting.”

”Should I show a grateful demeanor then.” Zheng Qing mocked as he signed, while dramatically shivering: ”Really terrifying, it sounds like someone plans to chew me up piece by piece at the party along with peanuts and Sea Monster Langmu.”

Xin Fat Man, having a remarkable understanding of food, commented: ”It’d be even better if they paired some side dishes, but I suspect they prefer the pure, unseasoned taste of you.”

”Oh, that’s disgusting.” Zheng Qing made a gagging gesture, stuffing the signed insurance document back to Xiao Xiao.

Xiao Xiao checked his signature, sneering: ”Hopefully when you’re lying on a hospital bed or in a grave, you’ll remember your current carelessness. Ultimately, one day, you have to take responsibility for your own actions... in every sense of the word.”
