High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2229: Chapter 450: Mary Sue (Part 2)

Zheng Qing had bought clothes before.

The previous year, before enrolling, Thomas had taken him to the Great Ming Pavilion where he bought the required robes and gloves on his book list at the Cloud Think Boutique; after enrolling, he also went with Jiang Yu to Green Xifang and bought a Bohemian long dress as a gift.

In the wizard’s consciousness, the experience of buying clothes with Jiang Yu was already the limit of his imagination—there were Alchemy-made mannequins showcasing different styles of clothing back and forth on the runway, attentive servants available at any call, with sincere attitudes; there were also sumptuous drinks and snacks, as well as resting booths.

Until this time.

Su Shijun took him shopping for clothes.

In Greenhill Mansion.

Zheng Qing had never known that a clothing store could grow legs and run around following the customer’s preferences.

”Good morning, Su Councilor.”

”Good afternoon, Ms. Su.”

The two middle-aged witches that followed Su Man into the room greeted the mansion owner one after the other. The one standing in front had her hair in a high bun, wore light blue eyeshadow, had thin lips, was wearing a robe with an exaggerated tall collar in light gray, and carried an exquisite Kun Bag, exuding a sense of ’fashion’ from the inside out; while the other middle-aged witch, who stood slightly behind, wore a plain black robe, with no expression and no makeup, like a nanny from a medieval monastery.

Zheng Qing recognized that the badge on the lady in front was from Green Xifang, a store where he’d bought clothes before, leaving a profound impression. So, the one behind should be a tailor from Ground Brush.

He’d always heard that the high-end custom-tailored clothes from Ground Brush were famous, and today he finally had a chance to see it for himself.

”Good afternoon, ladies.”

The owner of Greenhill Mansion nodded politely, tugging the young public-funded student standing beside her to the front: ”Today is to prepare his attire for attending a ball... Of course, a few regular meeting outfits should also be prepared. Just follow the old rules... let’s see the latest models, shall we?”

After some training, Zheng Qing’s heart could now better withstand the occasionally abrupt actions of witches, so when dragged to the two guests, he still felt a bit uneasy, but he strived to muster a slight smile.

He was rather taken aback by the guests’ reactions.

He thought they might show some slight astonishment, but from start to finish, the two witches maintained calm expressions, as if standing before them was a stone statue, not a young wizard.

After receiving the mansion owner’s instructions, the two witches gave a slight bow, each taking a step back, exchanged a glance, then simultaneously raised their Law Books, casting a Silent Spell.

The next second, two ancient and elegant dressing mirrors appeared on both sides of Zheng Qing. The tailors from the clothing store on either side manipulated the mirrors, completely reflecting the boy’s figure, then swiftly adjusted the moving runes around the mirror frames, as varying styles of robes flashed quickly within the mirror, each suiting the wizard’s figure perfectly.

In no time, the two witches stopped almost simultaneously, extending their hands into the mirrors, pulling with force.

With a whoosh.

Expertly styled robes were pulled out from the mirrors by them, forming ’dress dragons’ composed of hangars within, floating quietly and stably at about person’s height, spiraling, showcasing the exquisite robes from various directions.

”Pick one.”

Su Shijun gave Zheng Qing a push from behind.

The young public-funded student timidly walked between the two rows of robes without price tags—he could tell with his heels that these robes must be expensive, but other than slight differences in fabric, he couldn’t really tell the fundamental differences between them, except some had an extra trim, or two more buttons, or perhaps one belt was a finger-width wider than another, and so on.

”What’s wrong, none of these styles suit you? Should we switch out two batches?” Seeing the young public-funded student pacing back and forth between the rows, the owner of Greenhill Mansion finally couldn’t resist asking.

The two guests also fixed their gaze on the boy.

Zheng Qing was startled: ”No, no, I think these styles are all quite nice; I just have a bit of choice paralysis, haha, hahaha...”

”Oh, that’s good then.”

Su Shijun nodded seriously, then switched her tone, turning to the heads of the two shops: ”Since they all seem nice, let’s wrap up this row, and this row, as well.”

The young public-funded student was instantly dumbfounded.

”Too, too much!” he involuntarily exclaimed softly.

”It’s not too much, not at all.” The owner of Greenhill Mansion shook her head slightly, her face serious: ”Besides this ball, you’ll inevitably meet other Big Wizards, or other members of the Moon Council, and you can’t buy a new one every time... Wearing the same robe twice isn’t very polite either.”

No, it doesn’t feel impolite at all.

Furthermore, Mr. Wu, Professor Yao, or Rat Immortal, they never required him to wear a robe when meeting them!

Zheng Qing roared wildly in his heart, but as words reached his mouth, it transformed into a weak utterance: ”I, I don’t have a wardrobe in my dormitory big enough for so many clothes...”

”Oh, don’t worry,” the witch responded nonchalantly, waving her hand: ”Leave the clothes here at the mansion, I’ve reserved a room for you next to the room in Poseidon’s quarters, come and change when you need.”

Then she gave a slight nod to the two witches from Green Xifang and Ground Brush, signaling that the decision was final.

Immediately, the ’dress dragons’ were quietly led away by several Fox Maids — Zheng Qing guessed they were probably heading to the room that Su Shijun mentioned.

He intended to struggle a bit more, but the mansion owner didn’t give him the chance.

Because after choosing clothes, shoes and cufflinks were next.

This time, Zheng Qing came prepared; before the dizzying selection on several rows of shelves, he accurately picked a pair of shoes that looked the most unadorned, a Yellow Gem Daisy Brooch, and a pair of exceptionally ordinary Obsidian cufflinks.

”These shoes, this brooch, and these two cufflinks, all look quite nice!” The boy breathed a slight sigh of relief, inwardly congratulating himself on his cleverness.

”This pair?” Su Shijun took those cufflinks, examining them carefully, giving a slight nod: ”Indeed, these cufflinks are well-made.”

Zheng Qing let out a small sigh of relief inwardly.

The next second, the owner of Greenhill Mansion waved her hand: ”Then wrap up all these shoes and cufflinks as well... um, including these two.”

She pointed at the two sets Zheng Qing picked.

The young wizard’s face turned ashen: ”No, no need... one pair of cufflinks is enough...”

It was completely different from what he had imagined.

”Cufflinks don’t take up space; put them in a small box, occasionally playing with them is quite fun.” Su the Beauty provided her suggestion for passing time enthusiastically, then sudden recollection dawned on her: ”By the way, you have a Law Book, right?”

”Yes, yes, I have several spares, and one is custom made!” Zheng Qing nodded eagerly, feeling he finally had an edge.

Just as he was about to produce the brass book he’d found quite handy these past couple of days, he suddenly remembered that when Jiang Yu gifted him the book, Miss Su stood witnessing.

She undoubtedly knows he has a brass Law Book.

The young wizard firmly shut his mouth, nearly biting his tongue, tears welling from the pain.

”No need to be so emotional.”

The Upper House Member of the Moon Council patted his shoulder soothingly: ”I, too, like to prepare several Law Books just in case... I just didn’t expect you also enjoy custom-made Law Books.”

Speaking, she joyfully snapped her fingers, looking at Su Man at the side: ”Did you hear that? Instruct Lower Yuan Bookstores to send over a copy of the latest custom edition for this season.”

The Head Maid quietly departed after performing a courtesy.

Then the mansion owner turned to Zheng Qing, blinking: ”I’ll let you in on a small tip, if we buy out all the pre-made high-end editions, others can only buy the standard version!”

The young male wizard understandingly, apathetically pulled at the corners of his mouth in agreement.

What kind of bizarre Marisou development is this, oh, perhaps for a male wizard it should be written as ’Malisou’ or ’Mali Su’?

How could he not know such a simple ’tip’?

Is this ’tip’ small!

But no one could hear the frustrated screams in his heart.
