High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2242: Chapter 463: Shifting the Conversation Again

Professor Montreya was not the only teacher dissatisfied with classroom discipline this week.

On Wednesday morning, Sima Yangyun also rarely lost his temper.

”Zheng Qing! Xiao Xiao! Both of you stand up and listen to the lecture!”

The Lecturer in Magic History snapped shut the lecture notes in his hand, his face gloomy like clouds before a summer storm, and the classroom atmosphere suddenly dropped, scaring the two warlocks into standing up with a flurry.

Zheng Qing was somewhat prepared for being called out as he had practiced dance steps until late at night in Greenhill Mansion, causing him to be severely sleep-deprived. Before entering the classroom in the morning, he warned the Doctor that he was likely to nod off during class, hoping to gain some favor through the Doctor’s ’special connections’.

It seems he didn’t get any favor, instead, he became the example like the chicken to scare the monkey.

He glanced at the short warlock beside him.

Xiao Xiao was likely called out for unapologetically writing assignments from other subjects during the Magic History class — Zheng Qing suspected the Doctor had started taking private orders for writing assignments or papers again — a table full of tools was placed openly, visible to anyone unless they were blind, clearly showing he was neglecting his proper tasks.

”The finals are just a week away, don’t think that just because it’s the end of the semester you can act recklessly!”

She glared viciously at Xiao Xiao, biting out the words ’act recklessly’ very pointedly, and then shifted her gaze toward others: ”Furthermore, you are students of Jiuyou Academy, not Alpha or Atlas students; Christmas isn’t that important! Exam scores are what truly matter! Can receiving a bunch of roses for Christmas help you advance to the third year?”

”No...”

The hall echoed with slightly chaotic, feeble voices.

”Louder!” the Witch raised her voice.

”NO!!”

The classroom of Astronomy Class 08-1 immediately resounded with a buzzing noise.

...

...

”Did you upset her yesterday?”

Just after class ended, Zheng Qing couldn’t help but massage his sore legs, complaining to Xiao Xiao: ”Take care of personal matters privately, don’t bring emotions into the classroom... It could harm the innocent.”

Practicing dance steps for too long last night made his legs somewhat sore even now, and then standing for half the class thanks to Sima made Zheng Qing feel his legs no longer belonged to him.

Hearing the young sponsored student’s complaint, Doctor Xiao adjusted his glasses and looked at him condescendingly with his nose.

”Innocent?”

Disdain almost overflowed from the Doctor’s lenses, his tone filled with annoyance: ”You were snoring so loudly that even the birds outside the window were scared away, I poked you three or four times, and your snoring only got louder! You still have the nerve to tell me ’innocent’? I was the one implicated by you! If it weren’t for sitting next to you, would I have been pulled along?”

”I can vouch for this,” Xin Fat Man eagerly turned around, full of schadenfreude: ”I mean, Duan Xiao Jian was just completing his Potion Making assignment in class, and he wasn’t implicated.”

Zheng Qing wanted to say something more.

Dong Dong Dong!

Suddenly, there came a dull knocking sound on the glass beside them.

The young wizards all turned their heads to look out the window, only to see a green paper crane hovering in mid-air, its sharp beak desperately knocking against the transparent glass.

Zheng Qing immediately recognized it as the paper crane from Greenhill Mansion—he’s been entertaining these little guys quite often lately.

”Paper crane? Looking for you? Why not open the window?”

A melodious voice came from beside him, it was Jiang Yu, she’s here to collect the assignments from the back row. Zheng Qing couldn’t help but sincerely greet the family of the goddess of destiny in his heart.

Fat Wizard and Doctor exchanged knowing glances and promptly handed in their assignments, quickly packing their things and leaving without lingering for a second.

Zheng Qing hurriedly opened the window and grabbed the agitated little paper crane into his palm, not even having time to watch his two disloyal companions sneak away, forcing a smile at Jiang Yu to change the subject: ”Can I give you the assignment a bit later? I haven’t finished summarizing the impact of the Templar Knights on early banking... Time is just never enough recently.”

He tried using a slightly less serious issue to replace the topic about the paper crane.

This tactic usually worked.

But immediately, the Witch told him through reality that changing the topic is not always a good thing.

”Not enough time?”

She raised her chin slightly, exposing her fair neck, and a trace of mockery appeared at the corner of her mouth: ”Are you preparing for the moonlit dance party tomorrow evening? Or are you participating in Alpha’s Christmas Eve moonlit parade?”

The little paper crane in his hand persistently wriggled, finally succeeding in poking its tiny sharp head out of Zheng Qing’s fist and began pecking at his fingers.

The fatigue of his body, mental stress, and itching pain in his palm intertwined, making Zheng Qing feel, for a second, a sense of ’exhaustion’ and ’let it all end’.

”Not just the dance party.”

Zheng Qing spoke dryly. As for this, the young sponsored student saw very clearly that he must not deny entirely but neither could he fully admit: ”Recently including Seven Sins, Wandering Bar, and other places, there have been many leads about ’Ravens’. Everyone is working hard to distinguish the true from the false.”

Since he sold information to Seven Sins, as those ’Devils’ stirred things up, more and more organizations noticed the anomaly masked by First University during Winter Hunting, and there were gradually calls for Trident Sword or Danghag to intervene in the related investigation.

The campus was filled with rumors after public opinion roared, the Raven clues previously scarce started popping up like mushrooms after rain. Suspicious raven cries heard in some grove of the academy, a dead raven appearing outside Alpha Fortress, even rumors mentioning wizards wearing raven masks will cause havoc on Christmas Eve and Christmas.

When the topic turned to Ravens, the Witch finally shifted her attention to the ’serious matters’.

”Indeed, too many groundless leads, the student council is also exhausted from it.”

She nodded slightly, and casually shared new information with Zheng Qing: ”Because of the negative influence of the ’Raven incident’, the student council has temporarily issued a notice prohibiting anyone from wearing raven masks at this year’s Christmas Eve moonlit masquerade and the subsequent parade activities.”

Zheng Qing nodded in agreement, nodding his head repeatedly.

Coldly.

The Witch spoke again, changing the topic: ”That little paper crane in your hand is about to be decapitated... Hurry and open it. Is there some secret message?”

Zheng Qing quietly swallowed his saliva, and under the girl’s sharp gaze, he obediently opened and unfolded the paper crane.

Thank goodness.

The letter from Su Shijun didn’t mention her desire to dye her hair, nor did it talk about last night’s dance collision, only a simple reminder to the boy not to forget practicing table etiquette, to avoid being picked on by those moonlit brats.

”Let’s have lunch together at noon, I can help you check it.” The Witch casually suggested her own idea: ”My moonlit etiquette is definitely better mastered than yours.”

The warlock naturally complied like a stream.
