High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2251: Chapter 472: The Deer Crying Gently

”Your singing was passable.”

Zheng Qing reluctantly nodded, then turned to the other theoretically more reliable little witch, first expressing concern about her health: ”Is your body alright now?”

Considering the complex environment, he used somewhat vague wording.

Zhu Si’s face immediately fell upon hearing this.

The incident at the Winter Hunting Ground, where she, the guiding teacher, was knocked out instantly by someone’s sneak attack, had become a terrible memory she constantly wished to forget—especially since she had repeatedly emphasized ’be vigilant’ rubbish when coaching the Fringe Hunting Team before. Every time she thought about it, Zhu Si felt a sense of shame.

”I just took a nap, how could anything be wrong!” The little witch replied curtly with a stern face.

Zheng Qing looked her up and down, confirmed she was fine, and didn’t continue to dwell on this issue in such a time and place. Instead, he questioned their use of the ’Age Reduction Potion’: ”Su Ya and Li Meng are novices, but you should know that Age Reduction Agent is a prescription potion, which requires a certified therapist’s approval to consume... Did you get permission from your guardian to use this potion?”

Zhu Si felt a bit guilty under his gaze, put her hands in her pockets, whistled, and avoided the warlock’s smelly look.

”Just reduced a little bit, it’s no big deal,” she mumbled quietly, showing no avoidance of her ’actual violation’.

”What do you mean I’m inexperienced!”

Li Meng was quite displeased by Zheng Qing’s evaluation: ”I can recite by heart the formulas of more than ten common prescription potions! But isn’t life about seeking excitement!”

”I’m not stupid either!” Su Ya angrily clutched her big tail, looking disgruntled.

The young cost student glanced at them, focusing on Li Meng.

”Have you told this exciting thing to your sister?” His lips twisted slightly.

”Probably.”

The little witch’s newly arisen anger quickly extinguished, weakly touched her blue nose, her eyes flitting back and forth with her companions, dismissively waving to Zheng Qing: ”If there’s nothing else... we have to prepare for the upcoming chorus, you can stay here in the cold wind!”

Before the words were finished, she grabbed her two companions and sprinted away as if three frightened little deer encountering a Gray Wolf baring its teeth in the forest.

She had reasons to feel guilty, as a Spirit Witch, her daily life was heavily restricted, and she was extremely cautious in using various potions. Jiang Yu would never allow her to use a high-risk potion for such a minor matter—in a way, Li Meng was quite similar to her cousin.

The Directional Transformation Potion used by Jiang Yu was also illegal.

Zheng Qing silently watched their bouncing backs, wondering if Li Meng’s winter vacation homework might weigh more because of this incident, and whether Su Ya would be punished to wipe the floor all winter.

Regaining his composure, he realized there was another ’little deer’ still present.

”Why didn’t you run?” he raised his eyebrow at the little warlock.

Lin Guo folded his arms, honestly shook his head, and his drooping deer ears and antlers swayed with his movement: ”I’m also a victim, why should I run.”

Zheng Qing knew he was talking about the ’Age Reduction Agent’ issue and couldn’t help but laugh: ”If you didn’t consume it, would they have tied you up and force-fed you?”

”Why couldn’t they?” Lin Guo retaliated sarcastically: ”You were trembling before two witches, didn’t dare to breathe, how dare you mock me for facing three!”

Zheng Qing opened his mouth, intending to say these are two completely different matters.

But after a while, he decided not to say anything unnecessary, closed his mouth obediently, only teasing before he did: ”Truly, you’ve changed in three days, worthy of a new look. You used to not be such a sharp-tongued fellow.”

”If you were trapped on a timeline similar to mine, you would become increasingly snarky too.” Lin Guo sighed slightly.

”I recall the school corrected your timeline?”

”Troubles involving time are not easily resolved... especially when I’m an error on my timeline,” said the little warlock, glancing at the cost student, adding: ”Just like your relationship with Su Councilor. To most wizards at this ball, your presence is an error, a terrible error, that no amount of effort on your part can fix.”

Zheng Qing had no idea why the topic swung back to himself again.

He felt the need to have a serious chat with this young man.

”Why do you feel that way? You’re not other people...” he attempted to reason.

Lin Guo looked at Zheng Qing as if he were looking at an idiot: ”Isn’t it obvious? This is the Moonlight Ball! Everyone here has a kind of fervent emotion towards Su Councilor...”

”Me too,” the young cost student gestured, pondered, and chose an appropriate word: ”I also really admire Su Councilor...”

The little warlock raised a finger, waved it slightly in front of the guy’s nose, and shook his head slightly.

”No, no, no.”

He lowered his eyelids, his mouth curling downward, looking as if he were too naive: ”To many here at the ball, Su Councilor isn’t for ’admiring,’ ’liking,’ or ’loving’... Your words sound like a Christian liking God, a Black Mountain Goat calf admiring Nicolas... You put yourself in the wrong position... you should learn to ’accept,’ ’follow,’ and ’believe,’ and belief isn’t about liking, you must serve your master with all your heart... she’s descended from heaven, a symbol of perfection, extremity, wisdom, and all beauty! Without Su Councilor, you wouldn’t even know what the word ’beauty’ truly means!”

Zheng Qing listened to this passionately fanatical statement, suspecting he was brainwashed when Li Meng or Su Ya gave him the ’Age Reduction Agent’.

”Did you think all this up yourself?” he interrupted.

”Of course not,” Lin Guo looked utterly despondent: ”It was Su Ya, her admiration for her lady penetrates the marrow... and Li Meng, if she joined Atlas, I believe she’d become a very successful clergy. Why didn’t she join Atlas back then?”

”Probably because ’belief shouldn’t be scrutinized, otherwise it isn’t pure,’” Zheng Qing recalled words once spoken by a little monk, chuckled lowly.

”Hello?”

A weak and curious voice interrupted the chat between the two warlocks.

Zheng Qing turned back and was surprised to see a Fox tribe witch in a white robe, a badge indicating a ball staff member pinned on her chest. Noticing the warlock’s gaze, the fox girl softly reminded: ”Zheng Qing, the ball is about to begin, please come with us to prepare.”
