Chapter 2217: Chapter 438: The Law Book Reduced to Ashes

Compared to the giant hand that blocked out the sky, the two magic bullets shot by Zheng Qing were like tiny needles made of ox hair.

No, from an onlooker’s perspective, within a larger range of view, those two magic bullets and their trajectory seemed like two specks of dust under the giant hand, almost non-existent.

But their effect was undoubtedly unquestionable.

Crack!

A continuous sound, like silk tearing, came from the air.

It was the sound of the momentum of the descending giant hand being torn apart. The two magic bullets, though seemingly slow, were actually fast. In the blink of an eye, they broke through the ocean-like momentum and appeared at the edge of the giant hand.

But as Su Shijun had speculated earlier, compared to the momentum and force accumulated by the descending giant hand, the two magic bullets were indeed too small. They barely reached the edge of the giant hand and exhausted most of their magic power.

Of course, they had not made a futile effort.

”Hiss...”

A slight yet clear gasp echoed in everyone’s ears.

The giant hand, descending from the sky, seemed to have touched a cactus and suddenly retracted a little upward. At the edge of the palm, where the two magic bullets hit, two clear little red dots appeared.

A faint flame lit up from its palm, spreading to the fingertips in an instant, covering the entire giant hand and burning out the two red dots.

Then it pressed down again, with that faint flame.

Bang!

Bang! Bang!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Zheng Qing, silent yet resolute, fired several shots in succession, depleting more than half of the blood talismans he had accumulated for a long time. The heavy burden made the modified Remington also unable to bear it. The gun’s connections emitted ominous groans, the barrel radiated frightening magical fluctuations, and it had already lost its original jet-black color, flickering with a diamond-like distorted and transparent luster.

The last gunshot sounded like a voice coming from a constricted throat, making everyone who heard it realize its silent protest, as if one more shot and it would quit altogether.

”That’s enough.”

Su Shijun stopped the warlock, who was trying to pull the bolt again, and said, ”These magic bullets might be somewhat useful against big wizards, but they are inadequate against a legendary being... don’t continue wasting them... and take a little care of this gun!”

If it were usual times, Zheng Qing would have been caught off guard by the last words of the witch.

But now, he merely grasped the gun, his face pale, looking towards the sky.

A faint golden barrier abruptly appeared below the giant hand, blocking its further descent, but that barrier was too thin and too faint. The giant hand slightly restrained its size, easily pressing it into web-like cracks.

”As expected.”

The upper house member of the Moon Council murmured, withdrawing his gaze, glanced at the surrounding young wizards, and sighed lightly: ”The school guardian array has to fully protect the campus, the scraps given to the periphery are, as you see... merely symbolic... so, while there’s still a chance, use whatever means you have... I really don’t know if I can keep you safe under its hand... your best hope of survival is if it ’doesn’t care’.

Just like pedestrians not caring about ants on the roadside.

Naturally, they wouldn’t deliberately crush them because of their occasional aggressiveness.

The young wizards watched silently as more cracks appeared on the golden barrier overhead—everyone present, including Gan Ning, had more or less one or two fallback plans, but the most they prepared for was against a big wizard, not many would be insane enough to face off against a legendary rank being.

Of course, the harsher reality was that few people could prepare a contingency for dealing with a legend.

”I might have a way.”

The captain of the Atonement Hunting Team murmured softly in reply.

”You’re at it again!” The fat wizard interrupted Zheng Qing with an ugly expression, seemingly wanting to say more, but the words remained lodged at the tip of his tongue without spilling out.

Yes, at a time like this, what else could he say?

The other hunters of the Atonement Hunting Team also looked uncomfortable but were surprisingly in unison, not asking about Zheng Qing’s method—even Su Shijun did not question it—much to the amazement of the magical zoology lecturer, giving him an odd feeling of being an outsider.

His gaze fell on Zheng Qing.

He saw the young cost student take out a law book with a white cover from a grey cloth bag. Removing the leather clasp on top, he flipped it open, and a pale red spell appeared between the pages, vague and three-dimensional, but it flashed and vanished in an instant, shattering into countless fine red light spots before falling back into the law book.

Even though it was just a moment, the lecturer sensed a faint but chilling aura from that pale red, exceeding the pressure exerted by the giant hand overhead.

This moment brought him newfound understanding of many of Professor Montreya’s previous actions, amidst his shock and joy.

”Looks like your book isn’t ready yet.” Su Shijun craned her neck, examining the looming lines of spells on the law book, with a hint of tease in her tone.

Zheng Qing was stunned for a few seconds before he came to his senses.

It had only been half a year since this ’trigger’ was last pulled. Coupled with the fact that he now had a little green snake inside him regulating the forbidden spell aura, significantly reducing the rate of forbidden curse power dissipation, it had not yet absorbed enough forbidden spell power to restore to a usable state.

”You might consider another approach.”

From his ear, a lazy little snake watching idly gave its suggestion: ”...For instance, I can help channel some forbidden curse power outward, substitute your own magic power to draw a few talismans or incantations, which would certainly be more effective.”

The reason why the blood talismans were so powerful was because Zheng Qing’s blood was imbued with the forbidden spell aura. Directly using forbidden curse power, without a doubt, would be more apparent than merely being stained with the forbidden curse aura, and the power would certainly be greater.

”What should I do?” The warlock instinctively asked.

”Just stay beside me, don’t move around.” Su Shijun thought they were talking to her.

However, in his ear, the little snake knew Zheng Qing was asking it.

”Take out a pen, and a piece of talisman paper... you do know how to make talismans, right?” The little snake propped up its body, casually swaying its tail back and forth: ”...then just draw the talisman as usual. When you mobilize your magic, I will help replace it with forbidden curse power to channel it.”

Without hesitation, Zheng Qing flipped out his law book and feather pen.

Guardian, I need the power of guarding.

He murmured to himself, recalling the spell formula of the Guarding Curse, picked up the pen, and placed it on the blank law book page. As the pen’s tip touched down, an indescribable hot aura gathered from all over his body to his right hand, then flowed towards the green feather pen through his fingertips.

The feathers on the pen stood up one after another, turning bright red.

The pen shaft became transparent, with a crimson swirl inside.

The pen’s tip began to melt.

After just making a dot, the feather pen in Zheng Qing’s hand ignited into a long, thin flame and, with a whoosh, vanished with the wind. The dot on the law book also followed suit, turning charred, and in the warlock’s horrified gaze, that charred dot gradually expanded. In less than a second, it engulfed the entire law book.
