High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2231: Chapter 452: Reflections Behind the Guest List

On Friday night, the three warlocks of dormitory 403 spent a long time and finally finalized the guest list for the anniversary celebration of the small shop on Sunday.

In addition to the ten members of the Absolution Hunting Team, ten more guests were invited.

Su Shijun, as the advisor of the Absolution Hunting Team, was listed first; then Sima Yangyun, a lecturer in Magic History, whose identity is also quite special, ranked second; third was Linda Barnes, the former editor-in-chief of the campus newspaper, who attended the opening ceremony last year and has a close relationship with the Fat Wizard; then Nicholas and Liu Feifei, two students from Astronomy Class 08-1 who have a good relationship with every member of the Absolution Hunters; and last year’s shop-opening partners with Absolution against Duke Milton, the Fishman Iseni; Andrew Taylor from Alpha Academy; the Psychic Crystal Granny from the left of the D&K shop; Mu Mingzi, who sells amulets on the right; and the owner of the bar diagonally opposite, the Wandering Wizard.

Every aspect was considered.

It’s just that Old Yao is not at school, and he is now a legend, with a somewhat special status, making it inconvenient to appear in public places, while Zhu Si’s whereabouts are unknown. Otherwise, it would never have come to inviting Andrew and the Wandering Wizard.

In fact, the three warlocks in dormitory 403 had a heated argument about whether to invite the Wandering Wizard.

The Fat Wizard firmly opposed any connection between the shop and the suspected Black Wizard, analyzing in detail from a public opinion perspective the negative impact of associating with a Black Wizard on the shop’s image. Xiao Xiao bluntly showed his divination result, which clearly expressed the concept of ’distant relatives are not as good as close neighbors.’

In comparison, the two of them weren’t too bothered about whether to invite Andrew Taylor.

”That little werewolf cub is thriving in Alpha Fortress,”

The Fat Wizard carefully licked the sugar frosting on his fingertips, smacking his lips nonchalantly: ”He’s rich, knows when to bend and when to stand firm, has a bit of his own principles, and knows how to navigate... especially during this Winter Hunting, he magically managed to bring over twenty Hunters safely back to the Protective Legal Formation at the last minute, winning a wave of loyal fans.”

”He’s also highly regarded by Sepulano,”

Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses and added: ”I guess it’s because of their similar humble backgrounds, having irreconcilable conflicts with the conservatives in Alpha Fortress... which makes him the best candidate to inherit Sepulano’s legacy and career... if you want to maintain internal stability within the school in the future, it’s not a bad idea to interact with him more now, at least you can gather some characteristic information to help us build a more reasonable and accurate divination model.”

Zheng Qing was initially nodding repeatedly.

But as he listened, he felt something was amiss, subconsciously tilting his head, giving his family diviner a sideways glance, smacking his lips, hesitating: ”Hmm, wait, it may sound a bit conceited... but how come I feel like you’re implying something?”

”What implication? It’s a blatant hint.”

The Fat Wizard picked a dried lychee from the fruit box, tossed it into his mouth, chewed, looking very displeased, seemingly disdaining someone’s smugness: ”Looking across the entire Jiuyou Academy, which second-year or below student has more fame than you? ... Don’t mention controversial achievements like participating in the Black Prison Battle; just by being a public-funded student for two consecutive years, plus the title of ’World’ for your magic wand, and having received the Merlin Medal just after enrollment, it makes you the only choice.”

”The only...” Zheng Qing still clung to a sliver of hope.

”The next Lei Zhe.” Xiao Xiao raised his eyelids to glance at Zheng Qing, noticing the warlock opened his mouth, seemingly guessing what he wanted to say, interrupted him in advance: ”I know, you are not a member of the Sacred Will, haven’t participated in any Sacred Will activities, but that’s not an issue...”

”Zhang Ji Xin’s brother wasn’t a member of the Sacred Will in his freshman year either,” Xin Fat Man flaunted his well-connected info: ”The reason why Blood Comrades and Sacred Will, such long-standing large clubs, can persist is mainly because they are not closed-off and exclusive secret societies, they are willing to accept the best young wizards as their leaders...”

Zheng Qing inexplicably thought of the Seven Sins, subconsciously made a comparison.

Xiao Xiao snapped his fingers.

”To put it simply,”

he raised a finger, waved it in front of Zheng Qing: ”Lei Zhe might not be a student leader, but a student leader can certainly become Lei Zhe... the uneven development of wizard magic power determines that this world is always directed by a small cluster of people, and the best solution for the vast majority is to cheer along, shout along with the trend of the times.”

”Magic power might be uneven, but inspiration is evenly distributed though.”

Zheng Qing mumbled a rebuttal—in fact, based on the philosophy knowledge he learned in middle and high school, he wanted to conduct a detailed critique of Doctor Xiao’s erroneous hero-history view, pointing out the countless sparks of inspiration that can emerge from ordinary wizards.

”In this context, the Doctor waves the flag, and I do the shouting.” Xin Fat Man felt empathetic, picking and choosing in the fruit box, selecting a dried date palm to pop into his mouth.

”More importantly,” Xiao Xiao fiercely glared at the two who diverged from the topic, pointed at Zheng Qing, and continued his analysis: ”You are also a rightful member of the Club Union, maybe you’ll even moonlight as the president of the Club Union someday...”

”Why not the student council president?” Zheng Qing sighed.

”Because clubs are fully autonomous student organizations, whereas the student council is semi-autonomous, under dual management by the Professor Joint Meeting and the School Works Committee, thus having less freedom.”

Xin Fat Man evidently studied the various institutions within the school seriously and was exceptionally familiar with organization and personnel, his voice muffled: ”And you are not a student council member... relatively speaking, Liu Feifei, Jiang Yu, and Tang Dun have a higher chance of successfully competing for the student council chairman though.”

An image involuntarily flashed through the young public-funded student’s mind: a black cat and a white cat standing at the highest point of Jiuyou Academy, beneath them a field of flower cats of various colors.

He instinctively shook his head, seemingly trying to shake off this ludicrous image.

Then he remembered someone else.

”Do you think,” he deliberated, carefully choosing his words: ”If no one wants to meet the Wandering Wizard... how about we invite Sister Korma instead?”

”Good idea!” The Fat Wizard clapped his hands powerfully.

”But there’s already a representative of the Northern District Wizards among the guests,”

Xiao Xiao held on to his opinion: ”Moreover, as the North District Great Wise Person, Sister Korma is busier than you think... more importantly, the ’Please give me a frog’ campaign has been going on for several months, it hasn’t exploded into a large-scale event, nor has it been stopped by the school... the atmosphere is very subtle... I strongly advise against the Absolution over-participating in such sensitive events.”
