Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 299: Chapter 167: I’m Your True Fan (Part 2)

Kenneth Osborne quickly leaned over, his ear just a few centimeters away from Lawrence Winters’ lips.

Lawrence quietly said, ”...The first time I met him, I looked at his face. That guy... he has a fierce aura. He’s had blood on his hands, but there’s a hint of gold amidst the fierceness. His status is quite high...”

Kenneth felt a shock in his heart. He turned his head to whisper in Lawrence’s ear, ”Really? This afternoon, the whole city had a power outage, and he just happened to be at my company. Regarding the cause of the outage, he said one thing...”

”He said it was still under investigation...,” ”Then I felt something was off. Such words aren’t something just anyone can say.”

”So should I stay away from him? What if he’s not a good person?” Kenneth said worriedly, ”Even if I’m not worried about myself, I have to worry about you guys...”

He’s just an ordinary person without exposure to too high levels.

The highest-ranking official he’s met is just the director of a State Grid lab, supposedly a high rank but still technical, unlike the real top levels.

But Lawrence is different. He’s met people like Christopher Mason and Lydia Graham...

But that doesn’t prove anything, meeting them as passersby is completely different from working with them.

Lawrence thought carefully and suddenly remembered the time he encountered Francis Johnson at Pine Cypress Cemetery, and the ”Sarah White’s Tomb”...

His eyes lit up, and he whispered, ”It’s okay, Ken, Francis is definitely a good man, the kind who bears burdens for us!”

”...Why do you say that?” Kenneth asked in confusion, ”Don’t let your emotions cloud your judgment. Society is so complex, we’re all ordinary people without foundations, we might fall into a trap without knowing...”

Especially now that he has technology and patents, he has to be more mindful.

This time Lawrence directly hugged Kenneth’s arm, pulled his head down, leaned into his ear, and said softly, ”...That day my grandmaster and I went to Pine Cypress Cemetery...”

He recounted in detail meeting Francis Johnson that day.

Kenneth was once again greatly shocked, ”Really? He said his fiancée was a hero, a martyr, who sacrificed her life for our country?!—But I haven’t heard the name Sarah White in the news?”

Lawrence nodded affirmatively, ”Absolutely true, and he said he couldn’t disclose the reason, only that she is definitely a hero. And I believe him, when he spoke, he wasn’t lying. You have to trust me, I’m very good at reading people.”

”Think about it, a man whose fiancée is a martyr, and he seems to have an unusual status. Can such a person be bad?—If he truly were a bad person, that woman who sacrificed her life for the country definitely wouldn’t have pursued him.”

Lawrence, being a woman, uses these small details to support his judgments.

Kenneth chuckled, feeling much more at ease.

He pondered for a moment, then said, ”I trust you, Nora is always right.”

”Well, if you really trusted me, I wouldn’t have to tell you so many things.” Lawrence said with a teasing smile, ”Ken, you’re not my die-hard fan.”

”I’m your true love fan.” Kenneth chuckled as he pinched her cheek.

Nick Zeller, having not heard their earlier conversation, caught this last line and immediately turned around, ”What’s this true love fan? What are you talking about?”

Lawrence and Kenneth exchanged glances and then burst into laughter together.

Lawrence leaned forward on Gabrielle Winters’ seat, laughing as he turned to Nick Zeller, ”Uncle, you’re so outdated. We were talking about fandom jargon, wanna hear it? Buddy?”

Nick made a slight sound of disapproval, continued driving, and said, ”Because your grandmaster is coming, I haven’t invited my friends over. Just a few clients will come tomorrow for a meal and business talks. For tomorrow’s housewarming party, you and Kenneth can invite more friends.”

Lawrence was intrigued and said, ”Ken, should we invite Mr. Zhao? That day he even asked me to start calling him Brother Blake!”

Kenneth laughed, ”We can invite him, but I’m also inviting Blake Leaf, so don’t call Mr. Zhao Brother Blake, that’s too casual.”

Liking such a popular girl, Kenneth wasn’t sure if he had good taste or not, and was feeling a bit of a headache.

This time Lawrence obediently nodded, ”Alright, then I’ll just call him Mr. Zhao for convenience.”

Kenneth took out his phone, ”I’ve invited Joyce Shaw, are you going to invite Crazy Man Sister?”

Lawrence said, ”I’ve already told her, she even wondered if Joyce would show up.”

”Then I’ll invite Mr. Zhao, see if he has any other friends he can bring along for fun.” Kenneth immediately sent a text to Francis Johnson.

Inviting at this time was already a bit impolite.

But Francis still quickly replied: Congratulations, I’ll definitely be there tomorrow.

Kenneth quickly sent him the address, saying: It’s Nora’s family house, and I’m staying there temporarily. Sorry.

Francis replied with a laughing emoji: Good luck sucking up.

Lawrence on his end invited the rich sister, as well as Blake Leaf.

Gabrielle Winters had made a few friends of similar age in the past year, along with their children, all invited for the meal.

Adding it all up, there were over twenty or thirty people.

Kenneth pondered for a while, puzzled, ”...Then is the old immortal going to cook tomorrow?”

”Of course not.” Lawrence shook his head, ”My mom booked catering from a hotel, and they’ll deliver it for everyone to help themselves to.”

”That’s good, otherwise cooking and cleaning up would be too tiring.” Kenneth said with a smile, ”I’ve been learning to cook with the old immortal recently, shall I make you some fried rice sometime?”

”Sure! I’ll be waiting!”
