Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 289: Chapter 161: Men and Women Must Be Equal

Could it be that Lawrence Winters was right?

Is there really no true love? — It’s all tagged with a price.

Kenneth Osborne pulled out a cigarette and lit it.

Thinking of Lawrence Winters’ firm disbelief in love, he chuckled to himself.

He had to admit, Lawrence Winters was good at brainwashing...

After finishing a cigarette, Kenneth Osborne gathered his thoughts and decided not to dwell on these bothersome matters for now, focusing on his work first.

He threw away the cigarette butt, stood up, and opened the window for ventilation.

Just then, there was a gentle knocking on the door.

Kenneth Osborne walked over to open the door and saw Lawrence Winters standing in front of him, holding a large white bowl with red edges and a longevity character pattern.

”What’s up?” he asked with some surprise.

Lawrence Winters smiled and said, ”I knew you didn’t eat enough today, so I just made you a bowl of instant noodles. I used the mushroom oil prepared by Master Grandpa with some mushroom strips, shredded beef, oyster mushrooms, and some greens, with a little crushed peanuts for fragrance. Would you like to try it?”

Kenneth Osborne originally felt heavy-hearted with no appetite at all, but upon seeing this big bowl of instant noodles, he started to feel hungry.

”Come in,” Kenneth Osborne stepped aside to let Lawrence Winters in, gently closing the door behind them.

As he closed the door, he glanced at the small cat-shaped alarm clock on his desk; it was already nine in the evening.

Had he been sitting for two hours?

Feeling regretful, Kenneth Osborne suddenly remembered he hadn’t closed the page on his computer!

Dashing over, it was already too late.

Lawrence Winters had seen it.

She wasn’t particularly thinking much of it, just curiously looking at the smaller house on the screen, asking, ”Kenneth, is this the house you like?”

Kenneth Osborne was a bit uncomfortable, responding with a hum, really wanting to close the page.

But since Lawrence Winters was already sitting in his seat, closing it now would be too obvious.

Wouldn’t he lose face that way?

Kenneth Osborne silently picked up the big bowl of noodles and started eating.

Lawrence Winters, with high interest, finished looking at the three-bedroom house and laughed, saying, ”This house even has fine decoration! It’s really nice! If you buy it, Kenneth, are you planning to bring your mom, dad, and sister Brooke over?”

Kenneth Osborne: ”...”

His lips twitched; he thought he just wanted to get a place to stay, not planning to live with his parents...

But his sister could come for sure.

Swallowing the noodles, Kenneth Osborne said, ”I plan to buy a big house for my parents in River City when I have money again, like a standalone one with a yard, where they can grow vegetables, have something to do every day.”

”As for my sister, of course, if she comes to the Capital City, she’d live with me.”

Lawrence Winters understood.

Kenneth Osborne wasn’t intending to bring his parents to the Capital City.

She had no special feelings about Kenneth Osborne’s parents since they hadn’t interacted much, but she really liked Brooke Osborne, and Brooke was good at cooking.

However, after tasting the dishes made by Master Grandpa, she no longer missed Brooke’s cooking skills.

But mentioning Brooke, Lawrence Winters asked, ”What is Brooke doing now? Have you been in contact with her?”

Kenneth Osborne replied, ”We’ve been in touch on WeChat, but she seems busy, so her replies aren’t very timely.”

”Oh, as long as you’re in touch.” Lawrence Winters felt relieved, saying, ”I hope she has moved on and isn’t held back by that scoundrel Gregory Quinn for life.”

”Let her enjoy herself outside, if it’s really not working out, I’ll bring her here.” Despite being the younger brother, Kenneth Osborne was good at taking care of people, ”She’s my sister, I can’t ignore her.”

As Kenneth Osborne said this, he was still a little worried inside.

Afraid that Lawrence Winters wouldn’t be happy.

Fortunately, Lawrence Winters was indeed different from other girls; she didn’t seem to care at all about these in-law or sister-in-law dynamics.

She laughed and said, ”Of course, if you don’t care about your sister, even I would look down on you. Although we’re good friends, if you’re so irresponsible, you could lose me.”

Kenneth Osborne pinched her cheek, laughed, and said, ”Rest assured, if my sister truly needs me, I’ll buy her another house, so she won’t live with us.”

Lawrence Winters: ”...”

”What are you talking about? Why would I live with you?” Lawrence Winters made a playful face, ”Besides, I have a large flat...”

”You have a large flat, so you look down on our little three-bedroom? Truly heartbreaking...” Kenneth Osborne said, half-joking, feeling a bit down.

Lawrence Winters hadn’t expected Kenneth Osborne to think this way.

She paused, quickly saying, ”No, I don’t look down on three-bedrooms. Look at your house, it’s bigger than where we currently live, how could I look down on it?”

”...But it’s still smaller than a large flat.” Kenneth Osborne’s mind was occupied with the idea of a large flat.

”It is smaller, so come live with us. I won’t feel at ease with you living alone outside.” Lawrence Winters blinked and said seriously.

Kenneth Osborne was slightly taken aback, then smiled and said, ”Why won’t you feel at ease with me? I lived on campus since university, I’ve been doing everything myself.”

”But it’s not safe, and you’re so busy now, working overtime often, not eating well, it’ll ruin your health.” Lawrence Winters unconsciously spoke warmly, ”Don’t trade health for money, it’s not worth it.”

Kenneth Osborne chuckled, rubbed her head, ”Is this really coming from our little miser Nora? Did I hear wrong?”

”No.” Lawrence Winters smiled slyly, ”Look, Kenneth, in my heart, your health is more important than money, isn’t that satisfying?”

”Mm, very satisfying. But if you remove ’health’, I would be more satisfied.” Kenneth Osborne leaned in and whispered in her ear.

His previously down mood was gradually filled with courage again.

Lawrence Winters giggled and avoided him, ”Stop, it tickles my ear.”

She stood up, ”I’m going back to my room. Kenneth, if you have time, why don’t you come house-hunting with us tomorrow? I think you should live with us.”

She looked at Kenneth Osborne expectantly, placing her hands together in front of her chest.

Kenneth Osborne smiled at her, ”How much do you want it?”

”Very much, very much, extremely much, extremely much.”

”Too perfunctory, I can’t feel the sincerity.” Kenneth Osborne wanted to hear something nicer.

Unexpectedly, Lawrence Winters stood on tiptoes and kissed him on the side of his face, ”Is that sincere enough?”

Kenneth Osborne almost froze for a moment, then pulled Lawrence Winters back, kissing her cheek too, ”Men and women must be equal.”
