Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 254: Chapter 142: I Heard She’s Your Precious Darling

Edward Foster casually told his mom, ”Don’t listen to that person’s nonsense. If I were to have a child with her, I’d cut it off myself and become a monk!”

Mrs. Foster was stunned by his words and hadn’t recovered when Edward had already hung up the phone.

He immediately dialed his head of Public Relations.

”Warren! Are you trying to quit as the head of Public Relations?! Where are you when something this big happens to the company?!” Edward didn’t give him a chance to explain and launched into a tirade.

Warren was at home, lounging with his iPad and watching the drama between Zoe Johnson and Lawrence Winters like a comedy.

He didn’t expect young Edward would call so suddenly.

Cold sweat dripped down his back as he immediately said, ”Young Mr. Foster, I’m on vacation... I haven’t been checking my phone... you know how I am on vacation...”

”I don’t care if you’re on vacation or the hospital! This is your job! If you’re not around, did you arrange for someone to cover for you? How many years have you been working without even that much awareness?” Young Edward, seething with anger, directed his frustration at Warren.

In a well-organized company, there’s always a contingency plan even though there’s one person per role.

This allows everyone to take turns on vacation without leaving their work unattended.

Warren’s PR department indeed had one, but this time the situation was unusual, so they continued to ”watch from the sidelines.”

However, it seemed the situation was about to backfire.

Sweating, Warren quickly came to his senses and said, ”Don’t worry, young Mr. Foster, I’ll handle it right away. It’s just that the new spokesperson is a bit prickly, doesn’t fit in with the company, and if I weren’t on vacation, it wouldn’t have escalated to this. Don’t worry, I’ll immediately take Becca to your villa and assign someone to take care of her!”

”For heaven’s sake, why would you take care of her?!” Edward wished he could crush Warren through the phone, ”She held a press conference without permission, and I haven’t even dealt with her yet! What does this have to do with your PR department?! Go post on Weibo in support of our spokesperson immediately!”

Warren finally realized he had misread the situation completely...

Clearly, young Mr. Foster had ”shifted his affections.”

Warren, now even more scared, decided he must quickly reconcile with Lawrence Winters to earn some goodwill.

Edward hung up on Warren and called the company’s HR and legal departments, telling them, ”Becca held a press conference without permission, smeared the company’s employee, and violated contract terms. You need to take action immediately, demand compensation based on the contract. —Sell her house and car if you have to, but get that compensation!”

After this series of decisive actions, Edward hesitated for a moment before calling Lawrence Winters.

At this time, Lawrence had just left the Foster building.

The sky outside was getting darker. She stayed back at work to wrap things up and comforted Ms. Zeng before deciding to leave.

Kenneth Osborne arrived punctually in front of the Foster building to pick her up and take her home.

Lawrence got into the car, her cheeks rosy and her spirits high, quite different from the listless state she’d been in on her way back for the past few days.

”Hey? Did something good happen today?” Kenneth asked while starting the car.

Lawrence replied with a smile, ”Yeah, it’s been a day full of good things, I feel so mighty now, I need to puff out my chest for a bit.”

She struck a proud pose and even swayed a little.

Kenneth glanced at her, ”If you’re puffing out your chest, just do that, why are you swaying?”

”I’m not swaying! I’m just so happy I can’t contain all this mischief inside me!” Lawrence laughed happily.

She was able to laugh at herself, showing she really was happy, and any setbacks at work didn’t seem to trouble her.

Kenneth was relieved and didn’t bring up the matter again.

They had just gotten on the highway when Lawrence received a call from Edward Foster.

”Oh? Young Mr. Foster? You’re back from vacation?” Lawrence chuckled, ”It’s Friday, and I’ve already clocked out. You’re not going to make me work overtime on my first weekend off, are you?”

Edward quickly replied, ”Of course not, I just wanted to check in on you. Are you okay? Don’t listen to Becca’s nonsense. That woman has a screw loose despite her good looks.”

Lawrence said, ”...Young Mr. Foster, you’re sure you’re not blaming me? I heard she’s like your sweetheart, you’re not going to make my life difficult because of today’s events, are you?”

Edward nearly burst out laughing, ”Hahahahaha... sweetheart? Lawrence, where did you hear that gossip? Can I, the person involved, officially deny it right here?”

Lawrence: ”...”

”Really not? But she even has your child.” Lawrence blurted out, ”What age are we living in where this kind of thing could be fake too?”
