Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 295: Chapter 164: A Feng Shui Treasure Land Brimming with Auspicious Energy (First Update)

”Come on, Lawrence, sign your name first. Once the other party agrees, we’ll go to the bank for the loan and then proceed with the transfer,” Nick Zeller said happily. ”If everything goes smoothly, we can move in by the end of the month!”

There are only two weeks left until the end of the month.

...

Dusk was falling, and the people from Victory Wise Corporation had almost all left.

Thomas knocked on the door of Joyce Shaw’s office and said with a smile, ”Don’t work too hard. If you can’t finish, you can continue tomorrow.”

He winked at her, ”Work is never-ending; we have to learn to prioritize.”

Joyce: ”Prioritize, my foot!”

Does he enjoy working overtime?!

Even though Thomas did offer her a high salary...

Of course, Joyce said nothing, just waved with a smile in response to Thomas.

After Thomas left, Joyce went for a quick stroll, ensuring there was no one else in the company, before returning to her office and carefully closing the door.

Sitting back at her computer, Joyce furrowed her brow again.

This time, Thomas wanted her to do data analysis, not ordinary data but rather using reverse engineering to see the proportion of artificial intelligence in the opponent’s system.

Frankly, if it were just about checking the proportion of artificial intelligence in the opponent’s system, there are other, simpler methods.

But by using reverse engineering, not only can they find out the AI proportion, but they can also reconstruct the entire operating system of the opponent.

If the AI-based operating system is restored, it means all the opponent’s trade secrets are exposed to them.

They could identify the opponent’s suppliers and clients, pricing, internal personnel structure, and even obtain the most secretive financial data from the opponent’s ERP system, provided their ERP system is integrated with the AI system.

However, because reverse engineering is inherently challenging, it’s even harder if the opponent has a true AI system.

Joyce had been working on it for several days and had only managed to create a model to estimate the workload, with no actual data analysis done yet.

She needed to estimate the workload and divide it by their current CPU processing speed to get a rough timeframe.

Just running this model on the computer had already taken her two days, and it wasn’t completed yet.

Joyce spent a night in the office; nearing dawn, she was so exhausted that she laid her head down on the desk for a moment of sleep.

When she woke up, the sky outside was bright.

Her colleague in charge of equipment, surnamed Saunders, was nicknamed Joseph Saunders, and Joyce didn’t know his actual name, so she just followed everyone else in calling him that.

At this moment, Joseph Saunders and the office assistant Mary Palmer arrived at the company chatting and laughing.

Seeing Joyce tiredly emerging from her office, Mary Palmer quickly said, ”Director Joyce, did you pull another all-nighter? Tsk tsk, how can your body handle this? I brought you freshly baked meat floss rolls, they’re delicious, especially for you.”

Joyce felt a bit dry-mouthed and was indeed starving, so she took it without hesitation, smiling and saying, ”Thanks, I’m heading to the restroom.”

”I’ll heat up a glass of milk for you!” Mary Palmer called out behind him.

Joyce didn’t turn around, just waved her hand back to acknowledge.

She went to the bathroom, took a quick shower, changed into a company T-shirt, and returned to her office with the meat floss rolls, finding a warm glass of milk already on her desk.

Joyce smiled and sent Mary Palmer a WeChat message: ”Thanks for the milk and meat floss rolls.”

Mary Palmer immediately replied: ”No worries! It’s the least I could do!”

Joyce finished the meat floss rolls, drank the milk, and made herself a cup of coffee, feeling revitalized.

Upon checking the computer, the program had finally completed.

She looked at the result computed by the computer: Three years, five months, eleven days, eight hours, thirty-three minutes, and twenty-one seconds.

This means that if she were to complete the ”data analysis” Thomas required, given the existing software and hardware conditions, it would take over three years.

Joyce laughed bitterly and shook her head, even though she had optimized the algorithm with Kenneth Osborne’s help.

She printed out the result and went to talk to Thomas.

Thomas had just finished his coffee and, seeing her come in, said happily, ”...No way? You’ve finished it all?!”

Joyce sheepishly shook her head, handed over the printed results, and said, ”I’ve quantified the data analysis you asked me to do, and according to the conclusions drawn, given the current software and hardware conditions, if you want to complete that reverse analysis, it will take more than three years. — Can the company wait three years for an acquisition?”

”Of course not!” Thomas shouted immediately, his eyes moving quickly, glancing at Joyce’s printed report.

Hmm, clear structure, workload classified by urgency, very reasonable and effective.

But because the workload needed is too much, and the computer’s processing power is insufficient, it resulted in this outcome.

While Thomas was reading the report, Joyce analyzed with him: ”If we had a supercomputer, the processing time could be reduced to a year.”

”If we had a quantum computer, it could be shortened to a week. — The question is, do you currently have a supercomputer or quantum computer available?”

Thomas’s face turned somewhat grim.

He could borrow a quantum computer, but even the best quantum computers in their country couldn’t guarantee accurate results.

And for this reverse engineering of the AI system he wanted to do, nothing could go wrong.

”...Is there no other way?” Thomas put down Joyce’s report and asked slowly.

Joyce tilted his head and thought for a while, saying, ”It’s not that there are no other ways.”
